On 23 October 2019, 33 ComfortDelGro Taxi staff and cabbies received the National Kindness Award – Transport Gold 2019 from Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport & Ministry of Health at the Capitol Theatre.

Of these, (from left to right) Cabbies Dhanabalan S/O Shunmugam, Ong Swee Ker, Mohammad Suhaini Bin Abdul Ghani, Anthony Chee Han Men and Seet Choo Tong received the Outstanding Award in the Taxi Operations category!

今年 10 月 23 日在首都剧院举行的颁奖典礼上,共有 33 名康福

德高德士师傅和职员获颁 2019 年全国行善运动-公共交通金牌奖。

颁奖嘉宾为交通部及卫生部高级政务部长蓝彬明医生。

其中,德士师傅 Dhanabalan S/O Shunmugam、王順踞、

Mohammad Suhaini Bin Abdul Ghani、钱翰明和薛聚铜获颁德士

运营组的杰出奖!

Cabby Dhanabalan S/O ShunmugamA kind act can be as simple as carrying items for someone.

And that’s exactly what Cabby Dhanabalan S/O Shunmugam did when he ferried passenger, Ms Vani and her two young children home. As Ms Vani was alone with her two young children, none of her hands were free to carry all the items that she had bought.

So despite being older than Ms Vani, Cabby Dhanabalan quickly helped her load her items into the taxi boot. Even though she took some time to board the taxi with her young children, he waited

patiently without hurrying them. He also made the journey a pleasant one by sharing life’s positive anecdotes with Ms Vani and made them feel so comfortable that she felt as if she were in her “very own vehicle”, driven by a “relative”. He even volunteered to carry her items up to her house.

She later wrote to the Company to convey her appreciation. She said: “It’s very rare to find such a taxi driver who doesn’t only work for money but also serve his customers as best as he could. He was old yet he took his energy to help me… I would like to thank him for his help.”

Cabby Ong Swee KerCabby Ong Swee Ker, two-time Outstanding Award winner, first came into the limelight in 2017 when passengers were amazed at the "treasure trove" of provisions that he stores in his taxi during emergencies. The 65-year-old has even gone as far as to give away 150 umbrellas in the last two years.

It all started in 2010 when a passenger on board Cabby Ong's taxi discovered her phone cable was broken while on the way to the airport. Cabby Ong had none to spare her then, but immediately lent his own to her. Since then, he has gone on to store umbrellas, tissue paper, bottled water, sour plums, medical oil and lozenges in his taxi so that he could give them away to passengers. In fact, he has even equipped his taxi with Wi-Fi and two charging ports!

德士师傅 Dhanabalan S/O Shunmugam

帮忙别人提携物件,也是一件善举。

当德士师傅 Dhanabalan S/O Shunmugam 载送 Vani 小姐和两

名年幼的子女回家时,眼见 Vani 小姐带两名小孩,便毫不犹疑地为她提携

物件。

尽管比 Vani 小姐年长,Dhanabalan 师傅赶紧帮她把物件放进德

士车厢。虽然她和子女花了一些时间才上车,但他还是耐心等待,没有催促

他们。此外,他也和 Vani 小姐一人分享人生哲理,让后者有宾至如归的感

觉。他甚至主动帮忙把物件提到她的家中。

过后,她特地写信到公司致谢。她说:“如今已经很少看到不仅为车资

工作,同时也尽心尽力为乘客提供优质服务的德士师傅。尽管他已经相当

年长,但他还是尽力帮助我… 我要衷心感谢他的帮忙。”

德士师傅王順踞第二次获得杰出奖的王师傅于 2017 年首次受到瞩

目。当年,王师傅在车内为乘客准备了一堆应急“宝

物”,让人留下深刻的印象。过去两年,这名 65 岁的

德士师傅已经送出了 150 把雨伞。

一切都是从 2010 年开始。当时,在前往机场途

中,王师傅的乘客发现她的手机充电线断裂。于是,

王师傅马上借出自己的手机充电线。自此以后,他便

开始在车内放置雨伞、纸巾、瓶装水、酸梅、药油和

喉糖,以满足乘客的需求。实际上,他甚至还为乘客

提供免费无线网,以及两个充电口。

一名在去年 7 月乘搭王师傅德士的乘客说:“我

非常享受这段车程… 德士师傅竭尽所能地让乘客感

到舒适,提供瓶装水、饼干、雨伞、纸巾等等。为了让

乘客感到宾至如归,他确实落足心思,十分用心。”

A passenger who took Cabby Ong's taxi last July said: "I very much enjoyed my trip... the driver was serious about making his passengers comfortable, providing bottled water and biscuits on top of umbrellas, tissue paper and a whole lot of other things. He has obviously put a lot of thought into how he can make his passengers feel good."

Cabby Mohammad Suhaini Bin Abdul GhaniSometimes, things do not go according to plan. However, Cabby Mohammad Suhani Bin Abdul Ghani knows just how to find a way around it and to make it work!

It was raining cats and dogs, and Cabby Mohammad Suhaini received an app booking from a passenger that was heading in the same direction as he was. It was near the end of his shift and he was looking forward to calling it a day.

However, when the passenger boarded, she told him that she wanted to go somewhere much further. Knowing he could not fulfil this trip as it was in the opposite direction, Cabby Mohammad Suhaini immediately explained the situation to

his passenger. He also knew that the least he could do was to send the passenger to the nearest taxi stand. When he learned that the passenger had not eaten, he detoured to a taxi stand that was near a coffeeshop, just so she could grab a bite. Cabby Mohammad Suhaini even offered the passenger an umbrella, and declined to accept payment for the short ride.

Impressed, the passenger wrote in to commend Cabby Mohammad Suhaini. She said: “I write to acknowledge Cabby Mohammad Suhaini’s grace, humanity and attentiveness. Thank you for hiring the right kind of people to get us around safely, even when things do not go quite as planned.”

Cabby Anthony Chee Han MenLittle acts of service go a long way.

This is especially true of Cabby Anthony Chee. When he saw a passenger having difficulty boarding the taxi on his own, he quickly got out of the taxi, carried him safely into the taxi, and kept the wheelchair properly. He also shifted the front passenger seat to make room for the passenger and to ensure that he is comfortable during the journey.

Upon arriving at the destination, Cabby Chee got out of his taxi, carried the passenger out of the taxi and into the wheelchair, before pushing him to the lift lobby. This kind act meant the world to the passenger, who later called to commend Cabby Chee.

尽管有时人算不如天算,但德士师傅 Mohammad Suhani Bin Abdul

Ghani 总是善于变通,解决问题!

当天下着倾盆大雨,Mohammad Suhaini 师傅接到一名乘客的应用程

序电召。由于乘客要去的地方和他顺路,他便接下工作,并准备载完这趟后下

班。

不过,当乘客上车时,她告诉他自己要去更远的地方。由于乘客的目的地

在反方向,Mohammad Suhaini 清楚自己不能完成行程,并马上向乘客解

释情况。与此同时,他也打算送乘客到最靠近的德士站。当他得知乘客还未

用餐时,他便开车到一个靠近咖啡店的德士站,方便她进餐。Mohammad

Suhaini 师傅甚至主动为乘客送伞,并拒绝为这一小段的车程收取车资。

这名乘客过后写信表扬德士师傅 Mohammad Suhaini。她说:“德士师

傅 Mohammad Suhaini 展现的风度、热忱和周到服务,令人印象深刻。感谢

贵公司聘用如此专业的德士师傅,为我们提供安全的服务,即使事情并不如计

划中的顺利,我们也不会觉得有任何不便。”

德士师傅钱翰明举手之劳,也能发挥举足轻重的作用。

德士师傅钱翰明就是最好的例子。当他看到一名乘

客无法自行上车时,立即下车搀扶,确保对方安全上车,

并将轮椅收好。此外,他也调整前座乘客的座位,为乘客

腾出空间,确保他享有舒适的行程。

抵达目的地后,钱师傅下车搀扶乘客坐上轮椅,再

推他到电梯间。他的善举令乘客深受感动,并在事后拨

电表扬钱师傅。

平日总是笑脸迎人的钱师傅,进一步提升服务素

质—尽可能下车为乘客开门。其中一名乘客对此留下了

非常深刻的印象,并写道:“微不足道的举手之劳,也能

为乘客带来大大的不同。身为一名德士师傅,钱师傅充

分体现了真正的服务精神。”

Always armed with a smile, Cabby Chee takes service quality up a notch – by getting out of his taxi and opening the doors for his passengers whenever possible. One passenger was so impressed, that he wrote in: “Little acts of service go a long way, and it is drivers like Cabby Anthony Chee, that truly exemplifies the true spirit of service.”

Cabby Seet Choo TongStrong people stand up for themselves but the strongest people stand up for others.

Mild-mannered Cabby Seet Choo Tong was one who stood up for a mother and her daughter when they were caught in a bad situation with two delivery van drivers during Chinese New Year this year. The mother could not find an available parking lot and had parked in a loading/unloading lot before picking up her daughter. When she came back to the car, she found it blocked by two vans. Despite her apologies, both van drivers refused to give way. That was when Cabby Seet stopped to help.

The two drivers refused to move the van. Although there was just a three-inch clearance on each side of the car to the vans, Cabby Seet took over the mother’s car and manoeuvered it out of the parking lot safely!

Her husband later wrote in to commend Cabby Seet: "We are not your taxi passengers but were accorded with such great kindness and this reflected how your Company nurtures your cabbies. My wife, daughter and I hereby salute your Company and please, on our behalf, convey our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to this kind, calm and helpful cabby from your Company."

助。原来,那名

母亲因为找不到

停车位,只好把车停在上下货的车位,再去接女儿。

当她回返取车时,却发现车子被两辆货车阻挡。尽管

母亲向两名货车司机道歉,对方却不肯让位。这时,

薛师傅决定下车帮忙。

他代为出面干涉,希望获得司机的谅解,却不得

要领。尽管车子两侧与货车之间只有区区三英寸的空

间,薛师傅还是安全地将车子从停车位开了出来!

薛师傅此举令妇女的丈夫留下深刻的印象,特别

写信表扬。他说:“ 我们不是贵公司的德士乘客,却

获得德士师傅如此善待,这正反映出贵公司如何培

养你们的德士师傅。我的太太、女儿和我谨此向贵公

司致敬,请代我们向贵公司这名善良、冷静和热心助

人的德士师傅,转达最衷心的感谢之情。”

Going the Extra MileHe is no bicycle expert but that didn't stop Cabby Mak Ut Chin (right) from spending 30 minutes fixing the wheel of a bicycle for his passenger.

Cabby Mak had asked the passenger to have one of the wheels removed first at the bicycle shop so that he could load the whole bicycle into the boot. At the destination, Cabby Mak spent half an hour fixing the wheel back into the bicycle when the passenger didn't know how to.

The passenger was so impressed that he wrote in and commended Cabby Mak for being “one of the best examples of a taxi driver".

Well done, Cabby Mak!

竭尽所能服务至上 尽管德士师傅麥活泉 (右)不是脚车专家,但他

还是花了 30 分钟为乘客装置脚车轮子。

当乘客在脚车店上车时,麥师傅要求对方

拆下其中一个轮子,好让他把脚车装进德士车

厢。到了目的地后,由于乘客不晓得如何装回

轮子,他便花了半小时将轮子装好。

乘客对此留下了深刻的印象,写信表扬

麥师傅为“德士师傅的好榜样。”

When Mr Chalmers Chin (right) selflessly allowed his car to be rammed by our taxi so as to stop it from swerving, it could have very well been a scene from the movies.

Fellow motorist – Mr Louis Chin (left) – also stopped to help the cabby and even sent the passengers to the nearest MRT station.

To thank them for what they did, Mr Ang Wei Neng (middle), CEO of ComfortDelGro Taxi, personally presented tokens of appreciation to both gentlemen on 4 October 2019. The Company also made arrangements to repair Mr Chalmers Chin's car for free the following week.

We had also reached out to the cabby's family. Though saddened by what had happened, we are thankful for Mr Chalmers Chin and Mr Louis Chin for being heroes in our midst.

It was smiles all around as we welcomed our September monthly winners – Ms Sun Mu Xin Michelle (second from right), Ms Angela Looi Yu Xian (not in picture) and Mr Ramachandiran Agathiyan (second from left) - who walked away with $888 worth of ComfortPoints!

Said Ms Sun who is in sales: “The amount is equivalent to about 60 free taxi trips, which will last me about a month or so as I take taxi quite often.”

Mr Agathiyan was surprised by the win. He said: “I take taxis twice a day, to and from work so I’m glad to have won!”

The three cabbies who had picked them up - Cabbies Ng Kong Wah (left) and Tam Yue Mun (right) - also took home $88.80 in cash!

Said Cabby Ng: “I feel lucky to have won! I get more ComfortRIDE trips now and I think it’s good that the Company has given this opportunity for all to win!”

Cabbies Tan Boon Tong (top right) and Low Siang Lee (middle) have not had a single accident for 28 and 24 years respectively!

For keeping such impeccable accident-free records, both cabbies were awarded the ‘Safe Driver Award’ - Champion and Merit respectively, by the Singapore Road Safety Council on 25 October 2019. The Company also rewarded Cabbies Tan and Low for their achievement.

Do take note that under the Smoking (Prohibition in Certain Places) Act, anyone caught smoking in a prohibited place or a public service vehicle may face a composition fine of $200, or up to the maximum court fine of $1,000. Taxis are considered public service vehicles. As such, smoking in the taxi is considered a violation of the law.

ComfortDelGro Taxi Receives Distinction at the Singapore Health Award

Our “Check Car, Check Body” programme is still making an impact.

The health screening and coaching programme, which started in 2014, has benefited 12,300 cabbies to-date. As a result, ComfortDelGro Taxi was given a Distinction in the Special Mention Award category at the Singapore Health Award 2019 ceremony organised by the Health Promotion Board on 4 October 2019.

Two more rounds of health screenings will be held at the health check centres in both Sin Ming (November) and Braddell (December). Cabbies who have been invited to participate in the programme are encouraged to attend before they end in January next year.

康福德高德士获颁新加坡保健奖我们的“车检加体检”计划仍然深受欢迎。

自 2014 年推出以来,这项健康检查和辅导计划已经让 12,300

名德士师傅受惠。为此,在今年 10 月 4 日由保健促进局所主办的

2019 年新加坡保健奖颁奖典礼上,康福德高德士获得特别荣誉奖组

别中的杰出奖。

ComfortDelGro Taxi Named ‘Friend of Singapore Red Cross’Ever wondered where all unclaimed items go?

They are donated to the Singapore Red Cross if they are unclaimed after three months.

In 2018 alone, ComfortDelGro Taxi donated 40,792 unclaimed items, including baby strollers, luggage, guitars and pillows to the Singapore Red Cross. These items are then retailed at the Red Cross’ thrift shop.

For its contribution, ComfortDelGro Taxi was named ‘Friend of Singapore Red Cross’ on 30 September 2019.

The Company has been introducing different rental and incentive contract schemes. CABBY talks to those who have benefited from some of them.

12/24 Months Contract SchemesIn August 2019, many cabbies turned up at the office in Sin Ming to sign up for the new 12/24 months contract schemes in which they would be paid cash incentives.

Cabby Patrick Fernando was one who had signed up for a two-year contract without hesitation.

Said Cabby Patrick: "I joined ComfortDelGro in 2014 and I find it to be a good company that maintains its taxis well. I am happy with the Company so why not sign for two years? And the cash incentives are good."

On top of the contract schemes, the Company is still offering cabbies who have converted their existing diesel taxis into hybrid taxis a daily $5 hybrid rebate.

Cabby Patrick who qualifies for the hybrid rebate said: “It’s a bonus to get both the cash incentives and hybrid rebate. Every saving counts and a little goes a long way.”

12-Day Rental Free SchemeCabby Goh Boon Teck had obtained the Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence (TDVL) through the Company and wanted to try out first before signing on full-time as a hirer.

So, the 12-day rental free scheme was the most suitable. He trialled taxi-driving without paying rental for 12 days, found it suitable and signed up for the rental scheme for new TDVL holder promotion for one year. As a result, he will enjoy savings of up to 40% of the total rental for the whole year.

He said: “As someone new to taxi-driving, the 12-day free rental allows me to experience what it is like to drive a taxi without worries. And the promotion helps me save on rental for the whole year.”

Fare Share SchemeFor Cabby Howard Teo, the Fare Share Scheme works like a charm.

Under the Fare Share Scheme, single hirers of Hyundai i-40 taxis that are less than four years old like Cabby Teo, can switch to a lower daily rental when they share 15% of their revenue with the Company.

This has given Cabby Teo the flexibility of planning his week better and to stop his shift when he reaches his target earlier.

He said: “Even though I have to share the revenue, I still hit my weekly target earlier as the rental is lower. So it’s a win-win arrangement for me. I feel that I am able to plan my schedule better and achieve a work-life balance.”

A new in-app cashless payment feature – NETS Click – has been introduced to make NETS payment more convenient.

It allows passengers to add their bank cards with NETS function into the ComfortDelGro Taxi Booking App and works in a way similar to

Passenger selects NETS Click as payment type via the ComfortDelGro Taxi Booking App for either a booking or street hail trip.

The MDT displays “NETS CLICK” as the payment mode for this booking.

NETS Click It! Masterpass. Passengers only need to select NETS Click as the payment method before booking a trip. It also works for street-hail jobs when passengers pair their ride on the App while on board the taxi.

The MDT will then display NETS Click as the payment mode for this booking. At the end of the trip, cabbies simply tap on NETS Click on the cashless payment terminal to confirm payment and refund will be processed by the next working day.

CabbyCare cabbies took time off their busy schedules to provide two-way transfer for patients.

On 21 and 22 September, CabbyCare ferried nine patients from HCA Hospice Care (Star PALS) to Genting Hotel Jurong to spend precious time with their families at Family Camp. They even drove the patients home when the camp ended.

A month later, CabbyCare again sent 22 patients from the Kidney Dialysis Foundation from their homes to Tampines Hub and Jewel Changi Airport for an outing before driving them home.
