Senior career and miscellaneous information

Ivica Vukusic was born in Rijeka, Croatia. At an early age I developed an interest for football and goalkeeping and so I started training with my local team HNK Rijeka. Since the competition for the clubs 1st team goalkeeper was fierce I decided to enlist in another local team playing in the 2nd tier NK Opatija from 1983. – 1987. and after that I got a call to be the 1st team goalkeeper for OFK Bor, a very perspective club from 1987. – 1989.

Injuries stopped me from achieving more in my senior career and prevented my transfer to the German Bundesliga. Thus I decided to remain in football, get a proper football education and to what I always felt I did best, teaching and coaching.

In 2010. I managed to acquire my UEFA Coach B licence while working for HNK Rijeka at the clubs Youth Academy but I didn`t stop there. In 2012. I got the UEFA Goalkeeper Coach A licence and am looking forward to getting an education for the PRO licence. In 2011. Marijan Vlak invited me to teach and coach at his academy, The “Marijan Vlak” Academy for Goalkeepers, which proved to me that I was going the right way with my career.

I am constantly active in keeping my fitness and keeping in touch with the modern training methods for players and goalkeepers. I am married to Adriana and have two children.
