Notice to ship owners and persons with interest toward the delegation of statutory certification. EVALUATION, TESTING AND APPROVAL OF LIFESAVING APPLIANCES AND ARRANGEMENT The purpose of this notice is to specify requirement as regard to lifesaving appliances and arrangements provided on Malaysian ships for compliance of Chapter III, SOLAS. All lifesaving appliances and arrangement shall be evaluated, tested and approved by Recognized Organizations acting on-behalf of Malaysian Government not inferior to recommendation adopted by IMO as follows; i. Resolution MSC.81(70) - Revised Recommendation on Testing of Life-Saving Appliances, ii. MSC/Circular.809 - Recommendation for Canopied Reversible Liferafts, Automatically Self-Righting Liferafts and Fast Rescue Boats, Including Testing, on Ro-Ro Passenger Ships iii. MSC/Circular.1006 - Guidelines on Fire Test Procedures for Acceptance of Fire- Retardant Materials for the Construction of Lifeboats iv. MSC/Circular.810 - Recommendation on Means of Rescue on Ro-Ro Passenger Ships v. IMO Resolution A.520(13) - Code of practice for the evaluation, testing and acceptance of prototype novel life-saving appliances and arrangements vi. IMO Resolution A.752(18) - Guidelines for the Evaluation, Testing and Application of Low-Location Lighting on Passenger Ships Life Saving Appliances Approved by competence authorities in accordance with the respective resolutions as listed above are accepted for Malaysian Ships. EVALUATION, TESTING AND APPROVAL OF LIFESAVING APPLIANCES AND ARRANGEMENT

The purpose of this notice is to specify requirement as regard to lifesaving appliances and arrangements provided on Malaysian ships for compliance of Chapter III, SOLAS.

All lifesaving appliances and arrangement shall be evaluated, tested and approved by Recognized Organizations acting on-behalf of Malaysian Government not inferior to recommendation adopted by IMO as follows;

i. Resolution MSC.81(70) - Revised Recommendation on Testing of Life-Saving

Appliances,

ii. MSC/Circular.809 - Recommendation for Canopied Reversible Liferafts, Automatically Self-Righting Liferafts and Fast Rescue Boats, Including Testing, on Ro-Ro Passenger Ships

iii. MSC/Circular.1006 - Guidelines on Fire Test Procedures for Acceptance of Fire-

Retardant Materials for the Construction of Lifeboats iv. MSC/Circular.810 - Recommendation on Means of Rescue on Ro-Ro Passenger

Ships v. IMO Resolution A.520(13) - Code of practice for the evaluation, testing and

acceptance of prototype novel life-saving appliances and arrangements vi. IMO Resolution A.752(18) - Guidelines for the Evaluation, Testing and

Life Saving Appliances Approved by competence authorities in accordance with the respective resolutions as listed above are accepted for Malaysian Ships.
