IT for the Visually Impaired Based at Highbury City of Portsmouth Centre with a designated classroom,Highbury has excellent provision for students with visual impairments andoffers first-class support through one-to-one teaching. Excellent facilitiesaid students’ learning, including a text-magnifying machine and specialisedsoftware such as Zoom text, Supernova and Jaws. These programmes canzoom in on the text to make it up to thirty-two times bigger than normal,and Jaws has a speech facility so that blind students can listen to what ison the screen.

Train to Gain is a Government initiative to help businesses improve theirperformance and boost competitiveness by ensuring their staff have thenecessary skills.
The main priority of Train to Gain is to enable more adults to achieve a firstfull Level 2 qualification and to help improve basic literacy, numeracy andlanguage skills. For those in a supervisory roll that require their firstqualification to be a Level 3 this is also fundable.
Train to Gain is designed to combine the requirements of the employerswith the skills that colleges deliver through an independent and impartialskills brokerage service.
