Digital Natives OR Digital Immigrants (OR MORE NUANCED?)
1. The terms Net Generation and Digital Native do not capture the processes of change that are taking place
2. Age related component - Social Media, Multimedia and Mobile3. Students appreciate and make use of the foundational infrastructure for
learning 4. Students will respond positively to changes in teaching and learning
strategies that are well conceived, well explained and properly embedded in courses and degree programmes
5. Personalised Learning captures the intention of the institution in the type of learning they wish to provide

“Students today can’t prepare bark to calculate their problems. They depend on their slates which are more expensive. What will they do when their slate is dropped and it breaks? They will be unable to write!”Teachers Conference, 1703

c. 1650 – The Horn-Book
Wooden paddles with printed lessons were popular in the colonial era.
On the paper there was usually the alphabet and a religious verse which children would copy to help them learn how to write.

“The Head of Innovation at CBA, discussed the word "INNOVATE", which originated in the mid 16th century from Latin "innovat" meaning ‘renewed, altered’. She defined INNOVATION as "adding new value". Innovation doesn't have to be complex or expensive. Even a small change is Innovative if it adds new value.
