100 Black Men of Triangle East

100 Black Men of America, Inc. is committed to the intellectual development of youth and the economic empowerment of the African American community based on the following precepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice and integrity.

The Triangle East Robotics Club was designed to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in mentor-based programs. These programs help youth build on science, engineering and technology skills.

ACE Mentor Program

Founded in 1994, the ACE mentoring program stands for Architecture, Construction and Engineering. The mission of the program is to encourage high school students to pursue careers in design and construction by providing a hands-on experience.

The program runs throughout the school year and students meet approximately 15 times for 2 hours after school. During these meetings students stimulate design teams, working in groups of 15-25 with industry professionals. Mentors of the program introduce students to various careers, college programs and internships. Over 30,000 students have participated in the program since its establishment, and many remain active alumni through scholarships they receive or employment opportunities they exercise.

African Diaspora Coalition

The African Diaspora Coalition is dedicated to the social and economic development of the African Diaspora community. Part of the organization’s objectives is to provide programs to support women, youth and children. Additionally, they assist African immigrants in overcoming barriers that prevent them from being fully integrated. All Things New, Inc.

All Things New is a Christian based organization which provides assistance to youth aging out of the NC Foster Care System, and/or are transitioning into adulthood. They offer assistance with job searching, resume building and interview preparation. Assistance with GED preparation, college applications and Adult Education.

Alliance of Disability Advocates

The mission of the Alliance of Disability Advocates is to assist individuals with disabilities in overcoming barriers that prevent them from fully participating in their community. Part of their work is helping these individuals successfully transition from school into the workforce. Their Independent Life Skills, School-to-Work and SUITcessful training programs focus on this objective. Mentors of the programs provide coaching and training to support individuals’ transition. They help them search for jobs, fill out applications and develop the skills necessary for employment. The organization’s recent partnership with Men’s Warehouse now provides suits to men with disabilities. Backpacks to Briefcases

Backpacks to Briefcases was developed by the Capital Area Workforce Development Board and EDSI in conjunction with NCSU Career Development Center and Economic Development Partnership. The program matches recent college graduates who are unemployed or under-employed with internships in their field of study. Participants of the program attend a 5-day intensive training workshop in job readiness, interviewing preparation, resume writing and building techniques. The program concludes with a networking event with area employers.

The Encouraging place is a nonprofit women’s outreach organization operated through the Raleigh Mennonite Church. They offer a program called Females Reaching for Excellence & Empowerment (F.R.E.E) in collaboration with JOBSTART, for formerly incarcerated women. Carolina Trucking Academy

Carolina Trucking Academy offers on the job CDL training. Convenient scheduling allows students the option to participate in a 4 week, weekday training course, or, a 16 week, weekend course.

Students are placed with a trucking company prior to enrollment, and career counselors are available. The Academy has successfully placed 100% of their graduates seeking employment and provide continued employment support after graduation.

Carroll’s Kitchen

Carroll’s Kitchen is a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness for women in Raleigh. Women enter the program through a referral partner and spend a year with the organization. They provide affordable housing, job-training and life skills.

Centro Para Familias Hispanas

The Center for Hispanic Families is dedicated to providing educational, health and job training programs which develop the Latino community. The goal of these programs is to better integrate Latino families and improve their quality of living. The Center provides specialized counseling, case management and various immigration services.

The organization has established a designated Job Training Center which is open to area residents. The purpose of Colonial Job Seekers is to provide ministry and services to unemployed

Community Partnerships serves children and adults who suffer from disabilities, mental illness or substance abuse. Raleigh Community Workforce Solutions provides services to adults with disabilities and those who face barriers to employment. These services include, but not limited to: vocational evaluations, work passages, on-site training to improve skills, individual supported employment, job placement and coaching.

Community Workforce Solutions Placement Services program provides job placement and training support. Participants of the program receive a variety of services to help them obtain and maintain employment. Including assistance with writing a resume and cover letter, job seeking, completing job applications, interview preparation and assisting with arranging reliable transportation.

Connected Women of North Carolina offers unpaid, customized internships to women. These internships give women the opportunity to gain valuable work experience needed to transition into their desired career field. Cornerstone Center is a multiservice center for homeless individuals. Their employment services are aimed at empowering homeless individuals to obtain and maintain employment. This is done through outreach, engagement, education and ongoing evaluation. Additionally, the Center provides linkage to community partners which offer assistance in job searching, writing a resume, developing skills and preparing for an interview. Culinary Job-Training program

The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Culinary Job-Training program trains unemployed and underemployed adults for meaning careers in the food service industry. This hands-on program runs for 11 weeks and is taught by industry professionals. The program helps individuals obtain employment through partnerships with over 60 employers in the Triangle. Over 70% of individuals who graduate from the program are employed within 18 months.

Continuing Education Certificates are available to graduates of the program. These multi-session training classes allow individuals to develop their skills in specific area. Such as in Line Cooking, Baking/Cake Decorating, Breakfast Cookery, Buffet/Platter Presentation, Deli, and Butchery.

Diversity Community Foundation

The mission of the Diversity Community Foundation is to encourage, empower, educate and enrich youth ages 8-21. The organization provides a number of services including a Career Readiness program. Dress for Success

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools to help women thrive in work and life. Dress for Success Triangle focuses on employment acquisition by providing clients with career coaching, a resume, a cover letter and technology skills with trained volunteers on her first visit. Additionally, Dress for Success offers an intensive 10-week job acquisitions skills course, the Going Places Network, that provides in-depth job skills assessment, mentoring for moral support, and mock interviews offered by community business volunteers to provide skills and confidence throughout the job seeking process. A second track Dress for Success is launching this year is the REAL program, a ten week job acquisition program with a focus on careers in retail and customer service. Seventy-four percent of women who graduate from GPN find employment within three months. Coaches also provide guidance in the use of Strength Finders and instruction in financial literacy.

Employment programs help individuals identify career interests, develop skills through on-the-job training and maintain employment through continued support.

ECPI College of Technology

Girl Develop It

Girl Develop was founded in New York City, in 2010. Today, it has chapters in 53 communities across the nation and over 55,000 members. It is a nonprofit organization which provides affordable, hands-on technology programs to adult women. Their mission is to empower women to learn about software development to help them improve their confidence and careers.

Girl Develop It also offers salary and negotiation workshops. These workshops teach women and men learn how to evaluate the value of their position and negotiate salary. During these workshops participants role learn basic negotiation tactics, questions to ask and role play.

Goodwill Industries

Goodwill offers employment opportunities in a retail setting for individuals with disabilities or social disadvantages. The organization also provides career services to local community members which include assistance with resume writing, searching for a job and preparing for interviews. Additionally, Goodwill provides free skill training classes in introductory healthcare, office technology and skilled trades.

Hire Level Ministry

HOPE Evangelical Presbyterian Church is a faith-based organization which operates a computer lab on Saturday mornings at the Church. The program is aimed at helping people in the Community with computer skills, online job applications, and job searches.

Inmates to Entrepreneurs

Inmates to Entrepreneurs is a community outreach program established and funded by Sageworks. Their mission is to reintegrate former offenders by providing information to inmates who are interested in starting their own business. The program leads hour-long educational seminars in correctional facilities in the community and throughout the state. They are free to the institution and participants.

Online resources including videos and questions most commonly associated with starting a business are available on their website in the “Start a Business” section.

Additionally, monthly chapter meetings are held at their headquarters in Raleigh. At these meetings individuals have the opportunity to meet successful entrepreneurs, usually former offenders, and receive mentoring and feedback.

Interfaith Prison Ministry for Women

The mission of the Interfaith Prison Ministry for Women is to assist women who have been previously incarcerated. The organization aids women in their reintegration by providing chaplaincy, transitional programs and re-entry support. Their re-entry support programs provide services that help women secure employment, housing and transportation.

Jobs for Life

Established in Raleigh in 1996, Jobs for Life is national non-profit organization which partners with local Churches to address the impact of poverty and joblessness. Jobs for Life addresses these issues by equipping local churches and community organizations with the materials needed to implement and teach Jobs for Life classes.

Individuals in the program participate in a 16-week intensive course designed to help them obtain and maintain employment. Through work readiness training and volunteer mentoring, the program teaches essential workplace fundamentals.

Keystone Community Partners provides supported employment programs to adults with disabilities. Their Work-Adjusted Program/Job Coaching Program offers vocational rehabilitation services to individuals to help them develop the skills needed to obtain and maintain employment. The mission of StepUp Ministry is to transform the lives of adults and children through
