Liverpool“The clubs, the bands, trend-setting fashions, world-class architecture and a thriving economy, all came together to make Liverpool the success story of the Swinging Sixties... Liverpool was at the centre of a decade that shook the world.” (Claire Brown, 2009)

“Part of me would like to be accepted by all facets of society and not be this loudmouthed lunatic poet/musician. But I cannot be what I am not ... I was the one who all the other boys' parents—including Paul's father—would say, 'Keep away from him' ... The parents instinctively recognised I was a troublemaker, meaning I did not conform and I would influence their children, which I did. I did my best to disrupt every friend's home ... Partly out of envy that I didn't have this so-called home ... but I did ... There were five women that were my family. Five strong, intelligent, beautiful women, five sisters. One happened to be my mother. [She] just couldn't deal with life. She was the youngest and she had a husband who ran away to sea and the war was on and she couldn't cope with me, and I ended up living with her elder sister. Now those women were fantastic ... And that was my first feminist education ... I would infiltrate the other boys minds. I could say, "Parents are not gods because I don't live with mine and, therefore, I know.”- John Lennon (Sheff 1981, pp. 134–136.)

Who he was John Lennon was known as the “Smart
Beatle”(Anthony DeCurtis, 2012)
“It was a Messianic attitude, to be sure, but one that was tempered by an innate inclusiveness and generosity. If he saw himself as larger than life, he also yearned for
a world in which his ego managed at once to absorb everyone else and dissolve all differences among people, leaving a Zen-like tranquility and calm.” (Anthony
DeCurtis, 2012)
“In fact, he was a far more complex and difficult person, which, in part, accounts for the
world’s endless fascination with him.” (Anthony DeCurtis, 2012)

“Let It Be”This was really a breaking point for The Beatles.
They were fighting, John was no longer interested in the Beatles, and they would be parting soon.
“By this time, John had found the great love of his life, the woman of his dreams, the enigmatic Yoko
Ono, and the sad truth was he just didn't care much about being a Beatle anymore. Also, John's
growing drug use, especially his current experimentation with heroin, definitely added to
his growing disenchantment, paranoia, and hostility.” -Eddie Deezen
