It gives access to knowledge andtools and hence promotes the development ofHaredi hi-tech enterprises.

KAMATECHThe hi-tech industry is the jewel in the crown

of the Israeli economy. Its rapid growth hascreated a continuous demand for talentedentrepreneurs and engineers. This ever-expanding job market serves the critical needfor many in the Haredi community as a viableemployment opportunity to earn a respectablewage. Employment of Haredim in hi-tech

companies promotes their integration in both theIsraeli economy and society and brings togetherHaredi and secular sectors. It is a win-winapproach to cultivating a healthier and strongersociety on a whole.

KamaTech was founded by Zika Abzuk, a

business development senior manager atCisco Israel and Moshe Friedman, a Haredientrepreneur and with the assistance of Dr. YossiVardi.

A coalition of 40 of the largest hi-techcompanies operating in Israel joined togetherto assist KamaTech in achieving this goal.Companies such as Cisco, Google, Microsoft,IBM, Citibank, Variant and others have joinedefforts to encourage the integration of Haredimen and women in signicant positions in their

companies.

In addition, KamaTech brought together

venture capital funds and investors, includingPitango Venture Capital, Vintage VenturePartners, Canaan Partners and others alongwith a network of 60 mentors of senior hi-techprofessionals, successful entrepreneurs, investorsand senior managers. This prestigious andaccomplished group assists Haredi entrepreneurs

and supports them in various ways.

To date, more than 3500 00 Haredi hi-techprofessionals have approached KamaTech forassistance in nding a job. Hundreds have

been hired by leading hi-tech companiesthanks to KamaTech’s training, workshops, and

professional placement services. Over 1,000Haredi entrepreneurs have participated inworkshops, lectures, events and conferencesorganized by KamaTech.

Each cycle of the KamaTech acceleratorprogram ran for 4 months, During this time,participants received:

• A grant award of $5,250 ;• Work space on the premises of the adopting

start-ups;• Legal counsel and accounting services with

senior level associates;• Mentoring by senior hi-tech

professionals;Assistance in business

development, technological development,and marketing;• Programming services in cooperation with

the Lustig Campus for Haredi women;• Opportunities for presenting their start-ups

to top local investors; and• Participation in demo days in New York

and London where they meet investors and Jewish leaders in nance and business.

An astounding 224 applications were receivedfrom Haredi entrepreneurs. A board of eightjudges, led by investor Izhar Shay, selected sixstart-ups who were deemed to have the highestpotential of success in the accelerator.

The Kemach Foundation, a grant makingbody, was established In 2007 by Mr. Leo Noé.Its goal is to increase the levels of Haredim inthe Israeli workforce. Kemach accomplishes its

objectives by individually addressing nancialand academic challenges and facilitating jobplacement to confront critical issues of socialmobility, equal access to higher education andworkforce participation. The denitive catalyst

for its creation was to stimulate governmentfunding for the long term with interimphilanthropic investments that will signicantly

scale the number of Haredi individuals inemployment, as to have the greatest impact.

The vision for Kemach was borne out of anacute understanding of the micro and macroneeds of the Haredi community in Israel andits juxtaposition within Israeli society. Kemach

provides academic and vocational universityscholarships within a sophisticated matrix of jobreadiness, placement and personal/professionaldevelopment. Kemach’s multi-tiered solutionaddresses individual penury and capabilitiesas well as encouraging a generation of newemployment positions commensurate with the

needs of the Israeli job market.

Kemach works in partnership and a matchedfund scheme with government and otheragencies, to advance the provision of generousstudy and training scholarships, support for new

employment initiatives, in-depth aptitude careertesting, personal counseling and job placement.Its professionalism, specializing in the nuancesand sensitivities of the Haredi community,have provided Kemach with an unparalleledreputation as the focal point for every Harediindividual looking for the support and trainingrequired to join the Israeli workforce.

Since its inception, over 26,000 Haredim haveapproached Kemach. More than 93% of ourgraduates are in gainful employment with 83%on track for career advancement and increasedpay.

Currently there are 7,200 students enrolled inthe scheme, with a projected intake of 3,000applicants who have met the criteria for ascholarship in September 2015. To meet theenormity of potential, Kemach operates a $26mbudget annually with 56% matched by the Israeligovernment.
