Elliot Rodger killed six people on May 23, 2014 during his rampage in Isla Vista, Califorina, in southern Santa Barbara County. He also injured several more. In the final minutes of his murder spree, he struck Keith Cheung, who was riding his bicycle after a lifeguarding shift. Even though Cheung was seriously injured, a deputy placed Cheung in handcuffs. Rodger committed suicide minutes later.
