El pasado mes de Marzo, se llevo a cabo Spring Touch (Toque de Primavera) 2013, evento que se realizó, con la finalidad de jun-

tar a diversos grupos de artistas y compañías para dar a conocer sus productos de joyería y otros a toda la comunidad. Esta actividad se llevo a cabo gracias a Hands with a Plan (Manos con un Plan), que promueve la ayuda a los centros de refugio de la comunidad y tiene proyectado ayudar a centros de alimentación en otros países.

Touch Spring 2013 was held this past March with the purpose of bringing together a diverse group of artists

and companies to present their fashion jewelry and other small businesses to the community. This activity was organized by Hands with a Plan, promote the Arts and Crafts to help the Shelters of the community and has a plan to help feeding stations in other countries.

El Día de la Tierra es un día celebrado en muchos países el 22 de abril. Se dedica este día para crear una conciencia común a los problemas de la superpoblación, la producción de contaminación,

la conservación de la biodiversidad y otras preocupaciones ambientales para proteger la Tierra.Una conciencia común sobre los problemas de la contaminación, no se despierta solo en un día, es necesario que nosotros mismos pongamos nues-tro granito de arena e inculquemos en nuestros hijos la necesidad de cuidar y respetar el planeta desde que son muy pequeños, tanto en casa como en el colegio, la buena salud de la Tierra depende mucho de nuestras actitudes frente al medio ambiente y es necesario que los niños adquieran hábitos positivos en lo que se refiere a la naturaleza. POR EJEMPLO: Utiliza Menos Agua1.Ahorra agua siempre que puedas. 2.Mantén cerrado el grifo mientras no necesites el agua que sale para no desperdiciarla.3.Riega por la mañana o bien tarde para que el agua no se evapore ense-guida. Ahorra Energía Eléctrica1.Apaga las luces. 2.Utiliza bombillas de bajo consumo. 3.Evita utilizar electrodomésticos y energía innecesariamente. 4.Aprovechar la luz natural. 5.Desconecta todo aparato eléctrico que no este en uso, aun cargadores de teléfono.Contamina Menos1.Ahorra combustible. Planifica tus viajes diarios. Comparte carros.2.Gasta menos gas. Recicla todo lo que puedas1.Cuida y reutiliza las hojas de papel2.Separa la basura. (Latas, basura biodegradable, plásticos)3.Evita usar recipientes de aluminio y de plástico. Genera menos desperdicios1.Utiliza pilas recargables. 2.Evita usar productos desechables. Los adultos debemos dar ejemplo, los niños nos imitan en lo bueno y en lo malo. A cuidar la Tierra se ha dicho!

environmental concerns to protect the Earth.A common awareness of pollution problems takes more than one day to be widespread. We all need to contribute and teach our children since they are very young, at home and school, that the well-being of the Earth depends heavily on our attitudes towards the environment. It is necessary for children to acquire positive habits in regards to nature. FOR EXAMPLE:

Use Less Water1. Save water whenever possible.2. Keep tap off until the water is needed to avoid waste.3. Watering plants or grass in the morning or evening so that the water

does not evaporate quickly.

Save Electricity1. Turn Off all Lights.2. Use energy-saving light bulbs.3. Avoid using appliances and energy unnecessarily.4. Harnessing natural light.5. Disconnect every electrical chord when not in use even phone chargers

Pollute Less1. Save fuel. Plan your daily trips. Carpool2. Spend less gas.

Recycle everything you can1. Take care and reuse paper sheets2. Separate trash. (Cans, biodegradable trash, plastics)3. Avoid using aluminum containers and plastic.Generates less waste1. Use rechargeable batteries.2. Avoid using disposable products.

Adults are the example. Children will imitate the good and the bad. So lets take care of the Earth!

En muchas ocasiones, desde muy pequeños empezamos a conoc-

er y a desarrollar cada una de esas metas y sueños que con amor y dedi-cación nos gusta alcanzar y cumplir, tal es el caso de Angélica Juárez una mu-jer Texana pero con raíces Mexicanas, desde hace mas de 15 años se ha dedicado a la gran labor de enseñar a los niños.

Desde sus comienzos, como asistente de maestra en difer-

entes escuelas, en Colo-rado y Texas, Angélica nos comparte que “el cuidar los niños es una gran labor que se hace con amor y dedicación”. Trabajo que sin duda alguna ha de-sempeñado durante todos estos años con el objetivo de cumplir lo que anhela, enseñar a los niños.

Desde hace mas de 7 años se mudo a La-fayette, y hoy en día

ha iniciado Lil Angels, (pequeños angelitos) un cuidado de niños de 0-5 años, para brin-dar a cada niño que lo integre, la oportunidad de desarrollar sus ha-bilidades, disciplina y educación en Ingles y español, con diferentes actividades diariamente. each of these goals and dreams with love and ded-ication we like to achieve and accomplish, as in the

case of this Texan woman with Mexican roots, Angeli-ca Juarez, who for over 15 years has been dedicated to the great task of teach-ing children.

Since her beginnings as an assistant teacher in different

schools in Colorado and Texas, Angelica shares with us that “the care of children is a great work that is done with love and dedication.” Work that she has certainly performed over the years in order to fulfill what she loves: teaching children.

It has been 7 years since she moved to Lafayette, and now has started Lil Angels care for children 0-5 years, where she provides care for each child as she integrates the opportunity to devel-op their skills , discipline and education in English and Spanish, with differ-ent daily activities. 6 Razones para Reportar sus Impuestos (Hacer sus Taxes)6 Reasons to report your Taxes

The following are some of the most important reasons why we should

all fill out and send our Tax forms every year:

1.Be prepared to apply in case of an immigration

reform: In the last months the United States Government has made two significant immigra-tion reforms in favor of immi-grants. It is expected for these reforms to continue. Among the pre-requisites usually es-tablished whenever a migratory petition is presented is from 2-3 years of presentation of Tax forms.

2.You are adding to your retirement pension-

Even if you are not a Resident or American Citizen, if you work and report your income for 10 working years, you will qualify to get your retirement check when you become 65, even if you go back to your country, that pension is yours. Imagine yourself receiving a $500 or more monthly pension in your country in your senior years!

3.It is the only way you can receive your Id ITIN

number for your taxes with the United States government. If you do not have your Social Security number, whenever you send your tax forms for the first time, you can apply for your ITIN (Individual Tax Identi-fication Number). You get this number assigned, and today even banks will open accounts

and give you loans with an ITIN number.

4.You may qualify to receive money even if

you have not contributed all year. The income tables the government provides, have credits according to your in-come level. There are certain credits that are available only for Citizens and Residents but there are other that apply to the non-resident.

5.You may fill your tax forms even if you have

only earned cash. – The law states that if you work on your own and earn more than $400 in a year, you must present your taxes.

6.You may present pre-vious years taxes. The

government allows you to fill and send tax forms for the past 30 years, but will only reimburse or give you credits for the last 3 (2011, 2010, 2009). If you are the one that has to pay then you will have to pay with penalties and interests for the late pay-ment.

Entre los requisitos comúnmente pedidos cuando se somete una solicitud migratoria es: 2 a 3 años de los formularios de los impuestos (taxes).

2.Usted estará aportan-do hacia su pensión de

retiro- Aunque usted no sea Residente o Ciudadano Ameri-cano, si usted trabaja y reporta sus ingresos llenando los taxes por 10 años laborales, usted va a calificar para su cheque de retiro cuando cumpla 65 años, aunque usted se haya regresa-do a su País, esa pensión de retiro le corresponde. Imagínese a usted recibiendo $500 o más mensuales en su País durante sus años de tercera edad!

3.Es la única forma de recibir su numero propio

de identificación ITIN para impuestos con el gobierno de Estados Unidos. Si usted no tiene su numero de seguro social, cuando usted envía sus formas de los taxes por primera vez, usted puede solicitar su ITIN (numero individual de iden-

tificación para taxes). Se le asig-na este numero de identificación para llenar sus impuestos, pero hoy en día hay instituciones bancarias que le abren cuentas y hasta hacen prestamos de casa con el ITIN.

4.Usted puede calificar para recibir dinero aun-

que no haya aportado du-rante todo el año- La tablas de ingreso del gobierno proveen créditos de acuerdo al nivel económico suyo. Hay ciertos créditos que son solo para Res-identes y Ciudadanos, mientras que algunos créditos también incluyen al no residente.

5.Usted puede llenar sus formularios de taxes

aunque haya ganado dinero solo en efectivo (cash)- La ley estipula que si usted trabaja por su cuenta y gana más de $400 en todo el año, usted debe hacer sus taxes.

6.Usted puede hacer los taxes de años anteri-

ores- El Gobierno le permite llenar y enviar las formas de taxes por los pasados 30 años, pero si le toca recibir dinero de créditos y rembolsos, el gobi-erno solo le enviara el dinero de los últimos 3 años (2011, 2010, 2009). The medicine of a hard-ened heart: To be broken. It can be either by you coming to an under-standing that you need to humble yourself and obey Him, or because you find yourself in a difficult situation where there is nowhere else to turn more tan seeking God.

Para nadie es un secreto que los EE.UU es una nación formada por inmigrantes. A estas tierras han estado emigrando por casi tres siglos, personas de diferentes países y partes

del mundo. Personas con diferentes motivos y obje-tivos, con diferentes culturas y lenguas; pero todos con un propósito en sus vidas: UNA OPORTUNIDAD PARA PROSPERAR ECONOMICAMENTE.Esa oportunidad y posibilidad, se convirtió en el punto de UNION de todas estas personas. Todas tra-bajaron en función de cumplir sus objetivos y vivir en la mayor armonía y prosperidad posible. Esta unidad fue posible gracias a una comunicación constante, que se logró mediante el uso de un lenguaje común: El IDIOMA INGLES. Idioma que se enriqueció por el aporte hecho por todas las lenguas y culturas que convivían e interactuaban en conjunto.

Esta interacción de culturas y lenguas durante años, permitió la integración de todas ellas y la formación del idioma y la cultura que representan y dignifica los valores de los ESTADOS UNIDOS DE AMERICA, desde sus inicios como nación, hasta el presente.

Los LATINOS también hemos estado haciendo nues-tro aporte a la cultura y al desarrollo de esta nación. Pero nos hemos rezagado con respecto al idioma, principalmente los adultos. ¿Entonces que nos ha estado pasando como

comunidad? R/ En mi opinión es que la mayoría de los inmigrantes Latinos e Hispanos, no han tomado conciencia, de que si hemos emigrado a los EE.UU, es porque queremos vivir en este país, adoptar sus valores y convertirnos en CIUDADANOS AMERICA-NOS. Por supuesto que manteniendo nuestras raíces e idiosincrasia como Latinos e Hispanos que somos.

De esta reflexión es que me surge la idea de dar un paso hacia adelante como comunidad y priorizar el estudio y aprendizaje del idioma INGLES. No lo pienses más, comienza hoy mismo a hacer la diferencia, pon en práctica las 7 leyes de todo inmigrante.1 – APRENDER INGLES.2- TENER TRABAJO ESTABLE Y/O ABRIR TU PROPIO NEGOCIO.3- ECHAR RAICES COMPRANDO CASA Y TENIENDO FAMILIA (HIJOS)4- RESPETAR LAS LEYES.5- APRENDER LA HISTORIA, LA CUL-TURA Y LA IDIOSINCRACIA DE LOS EE.UU.6- PARTICIPAR EN LA VIDA SOCIAL, ECONOMICA Y POLITICA DEL PAIS.7 – CONVERTIRTE EN CIUDADANO NOTEAMERICANO; SIN PERDER TU IDENTIDAD E IDOSINCRACIA.

Language which is enriched by the contribution made by all languages and cultures that coexist and interact together.This interaction of cultures and languages for years, has allowed for the integration and formation of the language and the culture that represents the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, from its beginnings as a nation, to the present.Latinos also have been making our contri-bution to the culture and development of this nation. But we have lagged behind in learning the language, mainly adults. So what has been happening as a

community? In my opinion is that most Latino immigrants and Hispanics have not become aware that if we emigrated to the U.S., it is because we want to live in this country, adopt their values and become American citizens. Of course, keeping our roots and idiosyncrasies as Latinos and Hispanics. From this reflection is that I have the idea for me to step forward as a community and prioritize the study and learning of English. Do not hesitate, start today to make a difference, put into practice the 7 laws of all immigrants.1 - Learn English.2 – Have stable work and / or open your own business.3 - Take estate buying your home and making a family (children)4 - Respect the laws.5 - Learn the story, culture and idio-syncrasy of the U.S.6 – Get involved in the social, eco-nomic and political affairs of the country.7 – Become a U.S citizen; without losing your identity and idiosyncrasy.
