Our house was situated in an area nicknamed Westcliff by its residents,

after the fancy white suburb to the North. The rent of our new house was

17s.6d. per month. The house itself was identical to hundreds of others built

on postage-stamp-size plots on dirt roads. It had the sams standard tin roof,

the same cement oor, a narrow kitchen, and a bucket toilet at the back.

Although there were streetlamps outside, we used parafn lamps inside, as

the homes were not yet electried. The bedroom was so small that a double

bed took up almost the entire oor space...it was the very opposite of grand,

but it was my rst true home of my own and I was mightily proud. A man

is not a man until he has a house of his own...

-Long walk to freedom.

Let us built the bridge between the Indian Dalits and African blacks to

enjoy our real freedom in practice.

FORMATION OF NEW STATETHREAT TO UNITY

India is a union of states. Article 3 ofthe constitution of India provides for the

formation of stats by altering the bounda-

ries of the existing states. The demand for

creation of new states has become regular

phenomenon in our democratic polity. And

in the line present demand for the creation

of new state of Telangana, from the existing

state of Andhra Pradesh is due to the resent-

ment and discontented among the people of

Telangana. The unacceptable attitude of the

other region in the distribution of resources

and wealth is stated as the main cause for resentment. In these circumstances it is not

fair on the part of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions people demanding united

province without taking appropriate steps to resolve their discontent.

Constitutionally speaking when it comes to creation of new states, the central gov-ernment has to act with greater responsibility by coming up with a policy, particularly

because the Constitution has not entrusted any role for the State Assembly beyond

merely expressing its view. There should be some valid basis like language or ethnicity

or backwardness or need to create smaller states.

Further separate Telangana movement cannot be looked as secessionist movement,

creating as many as states will not hinder the unity of India. Article 3 of the constitution

of India is not against the unity of India. The government of India can form a new State

by separation of territory from any State or by uniting two or more States or parts of

States or by uniting any territory to a part of any State. And more over unlike United

States upper house, the senate, which is based on equal representation, Indian Rajya Sab-

ha is not based on the

equal representation,

bu t on ly on prop or-

tionate representation.

So the creation of new

state would not affect

the system or structure

in any way. Moreover,

when there is a right

of separate state out

of Madras State in the

year 1953, why not the

Telangana from Andhra

Pradesh, do they not

have the right to govern

themselves? India is a

Democratic Country and it is the rule and will of the people that should prevail. And if

one region dominates and exploits another region it is natural that the effected people

will have resentment. The people seeking unied state should fulll the aspiration of

the discontent region. Unity and peaceful co-existence will not come just because of

being one state. The brotherhood, patriotism, nationalism are eternal concepts and do

not change, but the boundaries are bound to change. Telangana, erstwhile state of Hy-

drabad State was joined with the present state of Andhra Pradesh only in the year 1953.

The formation of new states is not a threat unity. But the central Government should

exercise the power in more accountable manner. India lives on unity in diversity. Reli-

gious, cultural or linguistic diversities have not hampered unity of our country. In the

same time the formation of new states for the vested interest of the few groups shouldnot be permitted. Jai Hind.

HONBLE MR. JUSTICE KAILASH GAMBHIR22. It is often found that the malaise of the interference

of parents in the married life of their daughters has become

a major cause playing havoc with the matrimonial lives of

young couples. All the parents guide, teach and discipline

their daughters and are concerned about her welfare after

marriage but it is imperative for the parents to draw a line

as the prime concern should be that their daughter is hap-

pily settled in a new atmosphere at the husbands place but

not with dayto-day monitoring of the affairs taking place at

the matrimonial home of the daughter. Parents should not

become uninvited judges of the problems of their daughter,

becoming an obstacle in the daughters married life, to

plant thoughts in her mind and gain control over her and

promoting disharmony in her family life. They are expected

to advise, support and believe in their upbringing maintain-ing a discreet silence about the affairs of the matrimonial

relationship. The present case is an unfortunate example

where the parents of the appellant, instead of putting out

the re have fuelled and fanned it, resulting in the disruption

of the sacred bond of marriage.

The recent elections to theLegislative Assemblies at Bihar,

Uttranchal, Delhi, Rajasthan and

Mizoram is Indicative of the results

of the forth coming elections to Lok

Sabha. Sonia took over the National

Congress leadership, there is a slide

in the policy of the congress and the

people are now want this policy to be

rejected and reversed.

After Indias woke to freedom

when the whole world was asleep, in

1947, the governance of the country

came under leadership of Pandit

Jawaharlal Nehru. He was the prime

minister of India till 1954 till his death.

He came from the freedom move-

ment and thought of India and wanted

to make India a strong economic

power. He wanted the unication of

India which has a large number of

languages, castes, religions. He saw

the poverty of the people. He felt that

he can make India strong only if hecan water down these differences

and get the association of the entire

people to build a strong India. Thus

he adopted the socialist pattern of

social order.

Fortunately for him, he had a

gallant political leaders who also

saw like wise and gave a full hand

to him in his ventures. He learned

towards the economic policies of the

communities and thus the budget of

Dr. John Mathai was procialist. From

then onwards successive financeminister stood rm in this concept

and the best Finance Minister was

T.T. Krishnamachari. Pandit Jawa-

harlal Nehru had a particular friend in

V.K Krishnan menon he shaped the

policy in foreign affairs and economy

affairs for Nehru, unfortunately we

dont have a Krishna menon to guide

these nation, he was able to build

industrialisation and at the same time

keep the prices under control. He was

able to carry the people with him. The

progress made in India during this

period was phenomenal.

Very unfortunately the succes-

sive finance ministers could not

realise this fact and the economic

development of sections of the peo-

ple, regions and a planned growth

. T.T. Krishnamachari took the rst

shot with the nationalisation of the

insurance business and The large

money cornered by the private sector

insurance companies, were used by

the promoters for their own advan-

tage. T.T.Krishnamachari stopped the

monopoly tendencies and created acompetitive economic sector.

The monopoly tendencies were

restricted. Thus political power con-

trolled and kept the economic power

under control. From 1950 onwards

from the days when Pandit Nehru

was the prime minister of India and

later When Smt. Indira Gandhi was

the prime minister parliamentary bod-

ies were not kept outside the scope

of the industrial house, and members

from the lm industry. industrialists

and monopoly sector. perhaps theonly exception was the nomination of

of Rajiv Gandhi and the change of political parties taking over the

government, and the introduction of coalition government to run

the government, there became lapses in the economic system.

corruption and nepotism became the by product of the coali-

tion compulsions. The country is facing an economic / nancial

emergency.

There was not a single member of the business houses or the

lm industry in Rajya sabha during the times of the days when

freedom ghters who sacriced their lives for the country, were in

charge of the country but to day the Rajya sabha is lled members

of the industrial houses, business house, lm industry. There are

reports that the lm industry in India, is controlled by funds from

overseas. Thus Indian administration is seemed to be under the

control of foreign powers and the economic policy of the govern-

ment of India is directed/ dictated by foreign countries . India has

to return large foreign loans in 2014. if these loans are not repaid

in time, India is facing the possibility to declare insolvency. All

these climate has come only after the government of India has

come under the guidance of roman inuence. Sonia Gandhi had

been a housewife till the time Rajiv Gandhi fell a victim to the

barbaric human bomb. Rajiv Gandhi was a great leader with a

vision. To make India powerful nation. He was the hope of the

incoming generation for making a prosperous nation. This veryunfortunate that this young charismatic leader has fallen victim to

a human born. The vacuum created by the death of Rajiv Gandhi

will never be compensated.

Till 1996 the prices of essential commodities were normal

and the rupee had a respected value. with the Indian economy

leaning towards American, price level of essential commodities

has risen beyond the touch of a ordinary man without the ability

to control and the rupee has lost his strength. today the whole

nation is witness to corruption at all levels, 2G spectrum, Bihar

coal mines scandals, and sluing parliamentary and democratic

values. Parliamentary bodies could not function properly, there

are no debates. the emergence is Adami party is the result of

the frustration of the people and their helplessness to correct thedeterioration. All these because there is not a Prime Minister

who is elected by the people and a Prime Minister who has not

faced the people at all.

In no parliamentary democracy, there can be a Prime Minister

who has not faced the people and elected by the direct vote of the

people. Sonia Gandhi has managed to get a puppet as Prime Min-

ister of India and she was directing the government from behind

this puppet. This should go and 2014 general elections will get rid

of such a situation. The congress is responsible for the constitu-

tional evolution. It was when Gopala Krishnan Gokhale was with

the congress, he carried on negotiations with his friends morley

who was Secretary of State for India and secured them into morley

constitutional reforms, The agitation for a purna swaraj was still

going on. Therefore the British came with another constitutional

reforms in 1918. This is called 1918 government of India Act and

chemford Montague constitutional reforms. It was under this 1918

act, India was madwa a federation, power was transferred into

Indian hands and this system was termed Diarchy, Montague rmly

told the House of commons that His Majestys intension with

which the then government of India was in full agreement is have

gradual association of Indians in all branches of administration

with a view to have self government as an integral part of British

Empire. Then as stipulated in the 1918 Round table conference

was called in London.

As the congress did not compromise anything less than a

sovereign state, for India, the conference failed. But again another

Round Table conference was called in 1930 and this conferencealso failed. But the British came out with the Mc.donald award

and the 1938 Government of India Act was adopted and provincial

autonomy was granted, The Legislative Councils were enlarged

and inverted into Legislative Councils. The congress wanted

full freedom and entered the Assemblies. It was at this time the

second world and the congress wanted full freedom and entered

and the congress refused to assist the British in the war effort and

vacated the ofces in 1939. The British administration deputed sir

Stafford crisp to meet the Indian leaders and for a constitutional

change. Cripps trip did not make any impact. At this time the

Muslim League adopted the Lahore Resolution demanding thecreation of Pakistan. In 1941.

The Congress session was called in August 1942 to discuss

the political situation. Mahatma Gandhi himself tabled the resolu-

tion, guilt India and all the congress leaders were arrested and

detained in prison. But there were massive agita-

tion in the country. So in 1946, after the end of

the second world war, when there was change

in British administration with alee as the Prime

Minister, Cabinet mission was sent to India to

prepare the transfer of power to Indian hands.

As the Muslim League were rm on Pakistan,

India was divided and Pakistan was separated

from India . Pandit Nehru was made the Primeminister and a central government fully

run by only Indians took charge of the

country. And the constitution making

body prepared the Indian constitution

and the India came under the new

constitution in 1051. I do not think

the Sonia is aware of these facts.

The president of the congress

should know these facts. Only

a person who is conversant with

these knowledge can guide

the congress and congress led

government. When Rajiv Gandhi

was assassinated and when the

congress wanted Sonia to accept

the president ship of the AICC,

the people of India considered her

as their Annai and called her Annai

Sonia. But today disappointed by her

performances, the people of India has

removed Annai from their lips and

heart. In this vacuum created people

has lled the name Amma referring to

Jayalalitha has a mother care for all

and every one. From the infants to the

aged. she has tolerance and patience.

she can care for the poor, the aged, theoppressed and helpless. this character

of Jayalalitha has made her Amma by

and for all. Today she is not referred

by name but she is referred as Amma.

Sonia is no more in the hearts of the

Indian people, she has done nothing to

be referred as Annai.

And in the place of Annai, people

has placed be AMMA. There can be no

Annai any more, there is only Amma al-

ways. Amma is in the mind of the people

and shall be always. Amma always and

Annai over.Posterity will recordthis change.
