Wednesday 8th June 2016 Message from Mrs Hill: I hope you like the format of our new newsletter – Leamore Life? In future issues, we will continue to share news and information from different members of staff so that you can find out a little more about them as well as their role here at Leamore Primary School. Hello. I’m Mr Ellison and I am the Year Four class teacher. I joined Leamore Primary School in 2010 as an NQT after completing my final teacher training placement here too. My favourite things are Football and reading. I also like to swim, so I'll be glad when the leisure centre re-opens! Some of you might not know that I am also the subject leader for Modern Foreign Languages. Here at Leamore Primary School, we teach French to all pupils in Key Stage Two. On Friday, I will be delivering a special assembly to kick-off the start of Euro 2016. In this newsletter – the first issue of Leamore Life – I will share some of the French vocabulary, phrases and sentences you will need to get you through the Euro 2016 tournament

Twiddle Muffs!

The mum of these two sisters is a nurse at Walsall Manor Hospital and she has challenged us to collect as many ‘bits and bobs’ as we can to decorate Twiddlemuffs for the elderly patients who she works with.

In case you didn’t know, a Twiddlemuff is a knitted hand muff with a variety of embellishments (buttons, beads, ribbons, charms, pom-poms) attached inside and out. It is designed to provide a stimulation activity for patients suffering from dementia. People with dementia often have restless hands and like to have something to keep their hands occupied. It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation and at the same time keeps hands snug and warm.

Please raid your cupboards and drawers for any bits and bobs that would make a great addition to Twiddle Muffs! A large

plastic jar will be kept in the front office to collect your contributions. Thank you in advance for supporting this extremely

worthwhile cause.

Kindness Day

Well done to this Y4 pupil (and his mum) for sharing this year’s first ‘random act of kindness’ for Kindness Day.

Please forward your entries over the next few days in preparation for Kindness Day on Friday 10th June.

Ten Dojos will be awarded for each entry!

Sun Safety

May we remind you that now that the weather has improved, it is important to send your child to school with a sun hat to wear at playtimes (please make sure their name is inside!). We do have some caps for sale in school, priced at £1.00.

It’s also important to make sure that your child brings a bottle of water to school to remain hydrated throughout the day.

It is also a good idea to apply sunscreen to your child before they come to school each morning to give skin protection.
