Salvation is being saved from our sin. We are saved by believing in Jesus, the Savior.

Our sin is a big problem! We cannot keep God’s law. The penalty of our sin is

physical and spiritual death. Because God is holy and we are sinful, the wrath (anger) of

God is upon us. If we don’t believe in Jesus, we are already condemned. We will receive

God’s judgment. We will be separated from God in hell for eternity.

on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. He rose again from the dead to take our sins

forgiveness of sin, and the privilege to become the children of God.

There is DARKNESS in the world around us and in our hearts! We need someone to take

away the darkness and bring us the light! Our eternal destiny depends on it!

1. The Bible is a light to our path. God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

2. There was darkness over the earth, but God said, “Let there be light.” and there was

light.

3. Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and fell into sin. That brought

sin, spiritual darkness, and death into the whole world.

4. Moses entered into the darkness where God was. Then God gave us His law through

Moses. Afterwards Moses’ face show with the glory (light) of God. God’s law is good. It

shows us our sin and leads us to Jesus, who wants to be our Savior.

5. Jesus came as the Light of the world, to save us from our sin and darkness.

6. Through believing in Jesus, we can cross over from the power (control) of darkness into

the Kingdom of Light!!

7. Christians no longer walk in the darkness. They walk in the light, in fellowship with

God. Christians are God’s lights in the world. Their mission is to let their light shine, so that the people in darkness will see their good works and turn to Jesus.

8. Hell is a place of fire and darkness. Heaven is a place, where there will be no need for

the sun or moon, because God will be the light. There will be no night there.

9. The Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. Believers will be ready for

that day, because they are sons of the light.

10. We need to prepare for the Day of the Lord. We can believe in Jesus, the Light,

before the darkness overtakes us. Then we will be ready for the Day of the Lord!

Thank God for Jesus, the true Light! Jesus offers light to every man, who is born into this

dark world. We can take the light by believing in Jesus and receiving Him.

only in English. The Japanese translations of the English pages can be put in the binder

side by side. That way they can easily refer to the Japanese translation during class, if

they don’t understand the English very well. You can teach this course in English, in

verses that are in parentheses, but you may do it just as you like.

The chartchartchartchart is basically a reference page, but you could use it for review. If you have time,

you might like to review the previous lesson, letting them give comments about what they

learned and answering their questions. You could even have them memorize the key

verses for each lesson.

from Sunday School materials and a Bible Panorama book. You may like to follow up the

ten lessons with one more time together, when you serve a meal and watch applicable

sections of some DVD, CD, or video, like God Story or Hope, to wrap it all up in their

in the Lord” and “I Come to the Cross”.

Tea timeTea timeTea timeTea time is a good time to get to know your students better. Tea time can be before or after

the lesson, depending on the time of the lesson.

When inviting peopleinviting peopleinviting peopleinviting people to this Bible study, I found it helpful to not give a set time for the

study, but to decide on a time together, that would suit both teacher and students. This

method lends itself to private classes, which have the advantage of being able to adjust the

schedule as needed, without them missing any lessons. Private students may also feel

freer to speak from their heart. Sometimes you may also find several people who want to

study together.
