    In the presidential election of November 6,1860 Lincoln won 39.82% of the popularvote (1,865,908 votes), Douglas tookthe 29.46% (1,380,202 votes),Breckinridge won 18.10%(848,019 votes) and Bell took a 12.62% (590,901votes).The three opponents of Lincoln had added nearlythree million votes to less than two million Lincoln, but inthe Electoral College Electors Major Lincoln had

    180against 123 opponents totaling (152 needed towin). So Lincoln was the victor and was elected president.
