Sixteenth–Stage Bleed Manifolds

A 16th stage bleed manifold kit assembly is available to the Purchaser as an optional equipment item for use in adapting to the LM2500 gas turbine 16th stage bleed ports in those applications requiring bleed air extraction. A complete physical description of the manifold assembly, including customer interface detail, is shown on Drawing No. 537L327.

The maximum allowable unbalanced external loads at each of the customer interface flange connections on the manifolds are ±300 lb axial, 200 lb shear, and 1000 in–lb bending moment. Note that the configuration of the flexible sections provided by the Purchaser to compensate for engine thermal expansion can have a significant effect on the magnitude of the hose arrangement for adapting to the 16th stage bleed manifold assemblies. The bleed flow must be extracted equally from the two manifolds.

Since the 16th stage bleed manifold assembly is offered as an optional equipment item, the 16th stage bleed pressures presented in the LM2500-PE Performance Cycle Deck is referenced to the 16th stage strut ends, rather than the manifold exit. By knowing the percent bleed flow, bleed temperature, and bleed pressure at the strut ends from the performance data, the manifold exit pressure can be determined by calculating the corrected bleed flow and entering the Figure 1 curve to obtain the manifold/strut pressure ratio. Bleed temperature does not change between strut end and manifold end. These manifolds cannot be used when CDP steam is required.
