Jess has been in Mrs Robinson’s classroom on her first teaching practimum. Update on Mrs Robinson Mrs Robinson had to undergo emergency surgery last Friday evening to have her appendix removed. She will not be back to school until next term. We all wish her well in her recovery. Regional Spelling Bee Yesterday Luke, Bradley, Brodie and David went to Nemingha Public School to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee. David misspelled ‘souvenir’ on round four and Brodie misspelled ‘octave’ on round five. Unfortunately Luke misspelled ‘intranet’ on round one (he thought he heard the word internet) and Bradley misspelled ‘kabuki’ on round five. We all did our best on the day to make it through to the next level. We had lots of fun and all of us were happy with the outcome. By Luke and Bradley Students’ Work Work from students in Mrs Wilson’s class is attached to this newsletter. SRC Movie/Popcorn Day Next Friday, 19 th September (last day of term) the SRC are holding a movie/popcorn fundraiser. Students will be able to watch a movie on the smartboard and enjoy a bag of popcorn for $2. Students can also come out of uniform on this day. If your child has received two detentions this term they will not be attending the movie/popcorn session. These children will be working with a teacher in the library. Students who will not be attending the movie/popcorn session will be informed next week. Unclaimed Property There is now a box on the office verandah for all unclaimed lunch boxes, drink bottles and any container that your child/children may leave at school. Please check this box if your child/children have ‘lost’ a container. At the end of each term all unclaimed items will either be thrown out or sent to an op shop. Picasso Cow Update In the last week all students have been given an assignment on cows. K-1 are recording their daily intake of milk and milk products in a chart they took home and Years 3-6 choose a topic from the list on their assessment to research. Information can be found on the Dairy Australia website which can be accessed by going to Google and typing in Picasso Cow 2014. Students can work on their assessments over the holidays. The students with the best assessments will then have the opportunity to represent the school at the Presentation and Awards Day on Monday November 10th.
