## Low Battery Communication [ Christian ] Wireless communication devices often operate on batteries. When the state of charge of a battery gets low, the provided voltage is decreasing rapidly. At some point of time, it approaches the cutoff voltage of the electronic components. Goal We study wireless communication of devices that operate close to the cutoff voltage. To that end, we measure the relation between battery voltage and bit error rate for 802.15.4 based sensor nodes. Procedure a) Measure the discharge curve of AAA batteries. b) Drain batteries close to the cutoff voltage of the wireless sensor node. Do experiments to measure the bit error rate of wireless communication links of devices operating close to the cutoff voltage in different scenarios (e.g., sender low receiver high; sender highreceiver low; sender and receiver low) and radio channels (e.g., varying distance).
