1 IntroductionDordi Khola Hydropower Project developed by Himalayan Power Partner Ltd. (HPPL) Kathmandu, Nepal is a Run-of-River type hydroelectric project with generating capacity of 27 MW in Lamjung.

The initial completion date was scheduled in June 2017 but due to massive earthquake, blockade of the India-Nepal border and delay in the construction of NEA’s substation, the RCOD of the Project has been extended to 12th April 2020.

Facility agreement to provide Term Loan of amount NPR 3,170 million, 75% of total project cost including IDC, NPR 4,235 million, was concluded with Bank Consortium led by Prime Commercial Bank Ltd. on 7 November 2013.
Financial progress up to Mangshir end 2076 ( 16th December, 2019) is NPR 3,175 million (74.10%).
6.2 Physical ProgressThe Project construction works have been splitted in different contract packages according to the nature of the construction works. Contract package I includes the construction of infrastructures, contract package II includes all the surface civil & hydro-mechanical works, contract package III includes all the underground civil works and contract package IV includes supply and installation of electro-mechanical works. Rasuwa Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Machhapuchhre Metal and Machinery Works (3MW) as nominated subcontractor for all the hydro-mechanical works and Machhapuchhre Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (MEPL) for civil works of penstock and water conductor pipe alignment.

• Diversion Weir, Intake and Feeder Pipe
The construction works of the diversion weir, intake and feeder pipe has already been completed. The hoisting
structure and hoisting equipment of the gates and stoplogs of undersluice, intake and desilting basin have
already delivered at site and the installation will begin very soon.

The construction of desilting basin structure has almost completed including embedded metallic parts. The
surplus channel and remaining part of the installation of the flushing pipes will be started after completeting the

Desilting Basin
• Water Conductor Pipe & Penstock Pipe Alignment and Valve House
The excavation works for the trench of water conductor pipe has already completed except at the areas;
beginning and end of headrace tunnel which shall be done only after completion of tunnel lining works. All
together 2600m water conductor pipe and 550m penstock pipe has been installed. The rocky portion area
excavation has already completed and the installation of pipe is going on. The 1st stage concreting work at
the trifurcation is going on and soon trifurcation manifold will be installed along with 2nd stage concreting. The
construction works at valve house will start only after completing the tunnel lining works.

The civil works of the powerhouse building is almost completed. The roofing works and interior finishing works
are also almost completed. The draft tube gates are being installed with hoisting strutures. Powerhouse EOT

The excavation works for the switchyard foundation has completed and already started laying of earthmat with 3m long electrodes. The concreting of foundation of different switchyard equipment including transformers will start soon.
6.2.3 Underground Civil Works/Tunnel The contractor Multi Infrastructure Development (MID) Company is continuing the tunneling works since May
2017. Despite all the adverse geological conditions, on 1st September 2019, precise break through of the
tunnel became possible. The concrete lining of the tunnel has already started from two faces and about 840
m (30.20%) has been completed.

A pilot hole from top of the surge shaft to the headrace tunnel level has been completed. The headrace tunnel
has been also connected with the base of surge shaft. The full diameter of 8.0m excavation of surge shaft is
going on.

6.2.4 Hydro-Mechanical WorksFabrication of water conductor and penstock pipes almost completed. The fabrication of trifurcation manifold
has completed at the workshop in Pokhara and ready to dispatch to the site. Metal parts along with gate/stoplog
frames at undersluice, Intake, desilting basin and draft tube at powerhouse has been completed. The hoisting
systems for different gates and stoplogs are already delivered at site. The installation of draft tube gate along
with hoisting structure is going on at the powerhouse site. The installation of hoisting system along with
stoplogs, gates and trashrack at headworks structures will also start soon.

Private Ltd. Almost all the major equipments have been delivered at site and remaining minor equipment such
as dewatering system, ventilation system etc. are waiting for customs clearance at boarder. The EOT crane
has been already installed. Voith team has already mobilized at site and erection works has started from
control room. The control panels are being shifted to the control for checking and installation.

Panels to shift to control room and PH EOT Crane6.2.6 Transmission Line/ Power EvacuationGrid connection agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority was concluded to evacuate the generated power in proposed Udipur Hub by 3.0 km 132 kV single circuit Transmission Line. Due to delay in completing the Udipur hub by NEA, a contingency plan has proposed by NEA and signed. As per the contingency plan, the Power generated from Dordi Khola HEP will be evacuated to the Middle Marsyangdi Substation through Kirtipur Substation of NEA. NEA will complete the construction of Kirtipur-Udipur-Middle Marsyangdi Transmission Line by March 2020. For the construction of 3.0 km transmission line up to Udipur connection point, HPPL has started acquiring lands for tower locations and giving compensation for the land along the ROW. Urja International (P) Ltd., the contractor for transmission line, has completed detailed design and accordingly importing the required materials from India and China.

Geo-environmental Unit Geo-environmental unit in the project site has been already established to address environmental mitigation works. Mitigation WorksBio-engineering and slope stability works are going on along water conductor/service road alignment, powerhouse area.

7.2 Social support
Social support to local communities in the project affected areas such as construction/ improvement of local
roads, drinking water schemes, support to community schools, rural electrification etc. are going on under this
heading.
Bal Bikash Ni.Ma.Bi. School Building at Ramchowk Besi built with the support of the project
Drinking Water Storage and Distribution Tank built with the support of the project at Syaut.
8 Events8.1 Site Visit by Chief Minister
Chief Minister Rt. Honorable Prithvi Subba Gurung along with other MPs and local authorities visited project
sites on 11 May 2018. Problems and social issues faced by hydropower developers were widely discussed and
Chief Minister assured to solve problems and facilitate the project implementation.

8.2 Site Visit by by NEA MD Kulman GhisingThe Managing Director, Mr. Kulman Ghishing of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has visited the projects on 26th May and observed the status of the project construction progress. The issue of transmission line and power evacuation was discussed during the visit.
