Most of fatal accidents occurred at :

‐ Road Geometry : Straight road, bend area , intersection and others.

‐Road markings : Center line marked, double line, without line and others

‐ Road Surface : Dry, wet, sandy, and others ‐ Road defects : Insufficient delineation, improper road

shoulder, potholes, slippery road, guardrail and others


OBJECTIVE

• To highlight the initiatives implemented by PWD Malaysia in contributing to safer road infrastructure thus reducing the number of accidents caused by road engineering aspects.

Maintaining the Blackspot Database

“at least three (3) numbers of similar type of accident occurred within 3 years or at least five (5) numbers of accident with different types occurred within 50m radius”

Maintaining the Crashes Locations Database

• Updating crashes location through official Police Report –POL27.

• Updated by District Police to District PWD

• Will be considered into yearly road safety programs



Handling Public Feedback, Public Complaints and Requests

• One Call Center – handling manage complaints, feedback and request from public.

• Received information and convey to relevant parties. • Give feedback back to the complainer• Systematic way of handling public and data gathering

• Consist of 3687km of selected highways and Federal Roads in Malaysia.

• Produced star rating for 4 road user groups

• Estimated cost of initial investment : RM550 million

• Estimated 3,000 lives and 29,000 of serious injuries saved in 20 years.

• 30% reduction in road trauma on the roads surveyed.
