    Beore use, the washer must be properly installed asdescribed in this manual.

    Do not wash articles that have been previouslycleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted withgasoline, dry cleaning solvents, or other fammableor explosive substances, as they give o vapors thatcould ignite or explode.

    Do not add gasoline, dry cleaning solvents, or otherfammable or explosive substances to the washwater. These substances give o vapors that couldignite or explode.

    Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may beproduced in a hot water system that has not beenused or 2 weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS ISEXPLOSIVE. I the hot water system has not beenused or such a period, beore using the washer,turn on all hot water aucets and let the water fowrom each or several minutes. This will release anyaccumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is fammable,do not smoke or use an open fame durin g this time.

    Do not allow children to play on or in the washer.Close supervision o children is necessary when thewasher is used near children.

    Beore the washer is removed rom service ordiscarded, remove the door to prevent children romclimbing inside.

    Do not install or store the washer where it wil l beexposed to the weather or reezing temperatures.

    Do not tamper with controls.

    Do not repair or replace any part o the washer orattempt any servicing other than as described in thismanual. We strongly recommend that any service beperormed by a qualied individual.

    ALWAYS ollow the abric care instructionssupplied by the garment manuacturer.

    Do not place items exposed to cooking oil in yourwasher. Items contaminated with cooking oils maycontribute to a chemical reaction that could cause aload to catch re.

    Use abric soteners or products to eliminate staticonly as recommended by the manu acturer.

    This washer is not designed or maritime use or ormobile installations such as in RVs, aircrat, etc.

    Turn o the water taps and unplug the washer i themachine is to be let or an extended period o time,such as during vacations.

    LARGE-CAPACITY STAINLESS STEEL DRUM

    The large capacity stainless steel drum oersextreme durability and is tilted to improveeiciency and allow easier access or large items.

    DISPLAY WITH LOAD SIZE INDICATOR

    The load size is set automatically based on theweight and size o each load or optimal washingand abric care.

    LEVELING FEET

    Four leveling eet (two in the ront and two inthe back) adjust to improve washer stability onuneven loors.

    DRAIN ACCESS PANEL

    Provides access to the drain line and drainpump ilter.

    When removing the washer rom the cartonbase, be sure to remove the oam tub support inthe middle o the carton base.

    I you must lay the washer down to remove thebase packaging materials, always lay it careullyon its side. Do NOT lay the washer on its rontor back.

    IMPORTANT: To prevent internal damageduring transport, the washer is equipped with4 shipping bolts and plastic retainers. Thesebolts and retainers MUST be removed beoreoperating the washer.

    Failure to remove shipping bolts and retainersmay cause severe vibration and noise, which canlead to permanent damage to the washer. Thecord is secured to the back o the washer witha shipping bolt to help prevent operation withshipping bolts in place.

    Remove the retainers by turning themwhile pulling. Rotate and press the hointo the shipping bolt holes.

    Starting with the bottom 2 shipping bolts,use the included wrench to remove the4 shipping bolts by turning themcounterclockwise.

    NOTE: Save the bolts and retainers uture use. To prevent damage to intecomponents, the shipping bolts andretainers must be installed whentransporting the washer.

    NOTE: Please note that the loor must be strongand rigid enough to support the weight o thewasher when ully loaded, without lexing orbouncing. I your loor has too much lex in it,you may need to reinorce it to make it morerigid. A loor that is adequate or a top-loadingwasher may not be rigid enough or a ront-loading washer, due to the dierence in the spinspeed and direction. I the loor is not solid, yourwasher may vibrate and you may hear and eelthe vibration throughout your house.

    3 Attach the hot water line to the hot watertap. Attach the cold water line to the coldwater tap.

    Tighten the ttings securely. Open the watertaps ully to check or leaks.

    NOTE: Do not cross-thread the hose ttings.

    Attach the hot water line to the red hot waterinlet on the back o the washer. Attach thecold water line to the blue cold water inlet onthe back o the washer. Tighten the ittingssecurely.

    WaterInlets

    IMPORTANT: Use new hoses when installingthe washer. Do NOT reuse old hoses.

    IMPORTANT: Use ONLY the inlet hosesprovided by LG with this laundry product.

    Atermarket hoses are not guaranteed to it orunction correctly. Other hoses may not tightencorrectly and could cause leaks. Subsequentdamage to product or property will not becovered under the terms o LG's warranty.

    Water supply pressure must be between14.5 PSI and 116 PSI (100~800 kPa). I thewater supply pressure is more than 116 PSI, apressure reducing valve must be installed.

    Periodically check the hose or cracks, leaks,and wear, and replace the hose i necessary.

    Make sure that the water lines are not stretched,pinched, crushed, or kinked.

    The washer should never be installed or storedin a location subject to reezing temperatures.Damage to the water lines and internalmechanisms o the washer can result. I thewasher was exposed to reezing temperaturesprior to installation, allow it to stand at roomtemperature or several hours beore use.

    The drain hose should always be properlysecured. Failure to properly secure the drainhose can result in fooding and propertydamage.

    Do not install the end o the drain hose higherthan 96 in. (244.8 cm) above the bottom o thewasher.

    The drain must be installed in accordance withany applicable local codes and regulations.

    Make sure that the water lines are not stretched,pinched, crushed, or kinked.

    LEVELING THE WASHER

    Loosen the locknuts on all 4 leveling eetuntil you can turn the eet with the includedwrench. Turn clockwise to raise the washeror counterclockwise to lower it.

    2 Once the washer is level rom side to sideand ront to back, tighten all locknutssecurely.

    Make sure that all 4 leveling eet are in irmcontact with the loor.

    NOTE: To make sure that the washer is

    properly level, run the washer with a testload: place approximately 6 pounds olaundry in the machine. Then, press POWER,press RINSE+SPIN, and then press theSTART/PAUSE button. See the ollowingsections or additional inormation on cycleselection and operation.

    Veriy that the washer does not rock orvibrate excessively during the spin cycle.I the washer vibrates or shakes, adjustthe leveling eet until the washer is stableand retest.

    Fabric Care Labels

    Most articles o clothing eature abric care labelsthat include instructions or proper care.

    Check all pockets to make sure that theyare empty. Items such as clips, matches,pens, coins, and keys can damage both yourwasher and your clothes.

    Close zippers, hooks, and drawstrings toprevent these items rom snagging or tanglingon other clothes.

    NOTE: Adjust the leveling eet only as ar asnecessary to level the washer. Extending theleveling eet more than necessary can causethe washer to vibrate.

    All our leveling eet must rest solidly on thefoor. Rock the washer gently rom corner tocorner to make sure that the washer doesnot rock.

    I you are installing the washer on the optionalpedestal, you must use the leveling eet onthe pedestal to level the washer. The washersleveling eet should be ully retracted and lockedinto position with the locknuts.

    SELECTING DETERGENT

    ABOUT THE DISPENSER

    The automatic dispenser consists o ourcompartments which hold:

    Liquid chlorine bleach.

    Liquid abric sotener.

    Liquid or powdered detergent or prewash.

    Liquid or powdered detergent and color-saebleach or main wash.

    All laundry products can be added at once intheir respective dispenser compartments. Theywill be dispensed at the appropriate time or themost eective cleaning.

    Ater adding the laundry products to thedispenser, close the dispenser drawer.

    To add detergent, bleach, and abric sotener tothe automatic dispenser:

    Open the dispenser drawer.

    Load the laundry products into theappropriate compartments.

    Slowly close the dispenser drawer toavoid early dispensing o the laundryproducts.

    NOTE: It is normal or a small amount o water toremain in the dispenser compartments at the endo the cycle.

    Prewash Detergent Compartment

    Add liquid or powered detergent to thiscompartment to automatically dispense whenusing the Prewash option. Always use HE (High-Eiciency) detergent with your washing machine.

    The amount o detergent added or the Prewashoption is 1/2 the amount recommended or themain wash cycle. For example, i the main washcycle requires one cup o detergent, add 1/2cup or the Prewash option.

    NOTE: I liquid detergent is to be used or themain wash when using the pre-wash option, the

    liquid detergent cup accessory must be usedin main wash dispenser to prevent the mainwash liquid detergent rom being dispensedimmediately.

    Main Wash Detergent Compartment

    This compartment holds laundry detergentor the main wash cycle, which is added tothe load at the beginning o the cycle. Alwaysuse HE (High-Eiciency) detergent with yourwashing machine.

    Always ollow the manuacturersrecommendations when adding detergent.Using too much detergent can result indetergent buildup in clothing and the washer.Either powdered or liquid detergent may be used.

    When using powdered detergent, removethe insert and liquid detergent cup rom thecompartment. Powdered detergent will notdispense with the liquid detergent cup andinsert in place.

    THE TIME AND STATUS DISPLAY

    ESTIMATED TIME REMAININGWhen the START/PAUSE button is pressed, thewasher automatically detects the wash load(weight) and optimizes the washing time, basedon the selected cycle and options. The displaywill then indicate the estimated time remainingor the selected wash cycle.

    NOTE: The cycle time displayed may appearmuch longer than that o a top-loading washer.The displayed time is or the complete cycle,rather than just the agitation portion o the cycle,as is typically shown on a top-loading washer.

    CYCLE COMPLETION INDICATORThis portion o the display shows which stageo the wash cycle is currently underway (LOADSENSING, WASH, RINSE or SPIN).

    AUTOMATIC LOAD SIZE SENSINGAt the beginning o the cycle, the washer tumblesthe load and detects the weight o th e clothes.The display will indicate the approximate loadsize in the LOAD SIZE display.     DOOR LOCk INDICATORIndicates that the door is locked. The washerdoor will lock while the washer is operating. Thedoor can be u nlocked by pressing the START/PAUSE button to stop the washer.

    SPIN SPEED

    The washer drum spins at up to 1,200 RPM. Thisextracts more water romclothes, reducing drying timeand saving energy.

    Press the SPIN SPEEDbutton until the indicatorlight or the desired setting

    is lit. Some abrics, such as delicates, require aslower spin speed.

    The Drain & Spin cycle:The Spin Speed button also activates the Drain

    & Spin cycle to drain the tub and spin clothes;or example, i you want to remove clothes beorethe cycle has ended.

    CYCLE SETTING BUTTONS

    Each cycle has preset settings that are selectedautomatically. You may also customize thesettings using the cycle setting buttons. Press thebutton or that setting until the indicator light orthe desired value is lit.

    The washer automatically adjusts the water levelor the type and size o wash load or best resultsand maximum eiciency. It may seem there is nowater inside the drum in some cycles, but this isnormal.

    SOIL LEVEL

    Adjusts the selected cycle to allow more timeor heavily soiled clothes orless time or lightly soiledclothes. Press the SOILLEVEL button until theindicator light or thedesired setting is lit.

    WASH/RINSE

    Selects the wash and rinse temperaturecombination or the selectedcycle. Press the WASH/RINSE button until theindicator light or the desiredsetting is lit.

    Your washer eatures a heating element toboost the hot water temperature or ExtraHot settings. This provides improved washperormance at normal water heater settings.

    Select the water temperature suitable or thetype o load you are washing. Follow the abriccare label or best results.

    Warm rinses are regulated at approximately86F (30C).

    Warm rinses leave the loads drier than coldrinses. Warm rinses can increase wrinkling.

    In cold climates, a warm rinse makes the loadmore comortable to handle.

    Cold rinses use less energy, and the rinsetemperature depends on the cold water at the

    aucet.

    CUSTOM PROGRAM

    CUSTOM PROGRAM allows youto store a customized wash cycleor uture use. It allows you to saveavorite temperature, spin speed, soil

    level, and other options or a cycle, and thenrecall them at the touch o a button.

    Adjust the Wash/Rinse Temperature, SpinSpeed, and Soil Level to the desired settings.

    To use Automatic Load Size Sensi

    Load the washer, select the desired cycoptions, and then start the cycle by preSTART/PAUSE button.

    The washer will tumble for a short time the size of the load. After the washer dethe load size, the washer will show the size in the LOAD SIZE display for 10 sebefore it continues with the cycle.

    LOAD SIZE SENSING SYSTEM

    Example 1: If the washer has detected a small load size, thedisplay may only show one l ighted bar. Only a small amount ofdetergent should be used, because the amount of clothing andthe quantity of water that will be used is small.

    Example 2: If the washer has detected a large load size,the display may show all four bars lighted. More detergentshould be used, because the amount of clothing and the

    quantity of water that will be used is greater.

    The option buttons also activate specialfunctions, including CHILD LOCK, TUB CLEAN,and SPINSENSE. Press and hold the optionbutton marked with the special function for 3seconds to activate.

    SPINSENSE

    SPINSENSE can be used to help reduce oreliminate vibrations, especially ofloor installations.

    To activate SPINSENSE

    :While the washing machine is running in anpress and hold the STAIN CYCLE button foseconds.

    The SPIN SPEED button light will blink whthe washer is running to show that SPINSEis active. The SPINSENSE function will remactive for every cycle, even after a power f

    TUB CLEAN

    A buildup of detergent residue can occur in thewash tub over time and can lead toa mildewy or musty smell. The TUBCLEAN cycle is specially designed toremove this buildup. Press and hold

    the EXTRA RINSE button for 3 seconds to activatethis cycle. The display will show a message to addliquid bleach to the dispenser. After the cycle hasended, open the door and allow the drum interiorto dry completely.

    NOTE: Do NOT use this cycle with clothes,

    and do NOT add detergent or fabric softener.

    CHILD LOCK

    Use this option to prevent unwanted use of thewasher or to keep cycle settingsfrom being changed while the washeris operating. Press and hold thePREWASH button for 3 seconds to

    activate or deactivate CHILD LOCK.

    The lock icon will be shown in the display, and allcontrols are disabled. The washer can be lockedduring a cycle. Once CHILD LOCK is selected, thedisplay will alternate between CL and thetime remaining.

    LOAD SIZE

    At the beginning of the cycle, the washer tumblesthe load and detects the weight of theclothes. The display will indicate theapproximate load size in the LOAD SIZEdisplay. This allows you to adjust the

    Select this option to rinse and spin aload separately rom a regular cycle.This can be helpul in preventing reshstains rom setting in abrics.

    To activate the Rinse+Spin cycle:

    Press the ON/OFF button to turn onthe washer.

    Press the RINSE+SPIN button.

    Use a towel or sot cloth to wipe around thewasher door opening, door seal, and door glass.These areas should be kept clean to ensure awatertight seal. Be sure to wipe under the insiderubber seal to remove any moisture or soil.

    Always remove items rom the washer as soonas the cycle is completed. Leaving damp itemsin the washer can cause wrinkling, color transer,and odor.

    Run the TUB CLEAN cycle regularly to removedetergent buildup and other residue.

    Removing Lime Buildup

    I you live in an area with hard water, lime scale

    can orm on internal components o the washer.Use o a water sotener is recommended in areaswith hard water. I a descaler is used, make surethat it is suitable or use in a washer, and run theTUB CLEAN cycle beore washing clothing.

    Lime scale and other spots may be removedrom the stainless steel drum using a stainlesssteel cleaner. Do NOT use steel wool or abrasivecleansers; they can damage the surace.

    Storing the Washer

    I the washer will not be used or an extendedperiod o time and is in an area that could beexposed to reezing temperatures:

    Turn o water supply tap.

    Disconnect hoses rom water supply anddrain water rom hoses.

    Plug the power cord into a properly groundedelectrical outlet.

    Add 1 gallon o nontoxic recreational vehicle(RV) antireeze to the empty wash drum.Close door.

    Select the spin cycle and let washer spinor 1 minute to drain out all the water.

    NOTE: Not all o the RV antireeze will beexpelled.

    Unplug the power cord, dry the drum interiorwith a sot cloth, and close the door.

    Remove the inserts rom the dispenser. Drainany water in compartments and dry thecompartments.

    Store the washer in an upright position.

    To remove the antireeze rom the washerater storage, run washer through a completecycle using detergent. Do not add laundry!

    Cleaning the Drain Pump Filter

    Lint and other objects may accumulate and clogthe drain pump ilter. I the washer ails to drainproperly, unplug the washer and allow the waterto cool, i necessary, beore proceeding.

    Open the drain pump ilter access panel.1 Unclip the drain hose and pull it out. the end o the drain hose in a pan, buloor drain to catch water.

    Twist the pump ilter counterclockwise toremove. Remove any lint and oreign objectsrom the pump ilter.

    Cleaning the Water Inlet Filters

    I the washer detects that water is not enteringthe dispenser, an error message will show on thedisplay. I you live in an area with hard water, thismay be caused by clogged inlet ilters.

    Turn o both water taps completely. Unscrewthe hot and cold water lines rom the back othe washer.

    1 Careully remove the ilters rom the waterinlets, and soak them in white vinegaror a lime scale remover, ollowing themanuacturers instructions. Rinse thoroughlybeore reinstalling.

    Press the ilters back into place and reattachthe water lines. Do NOT operate the washerwithout the inlet ilters.

    To ensure sae and secure installation, pleaseobserve the ollowing instructions.

    1 Make sure the surace o the washer is cleanand dry. Remove paper backing rom thetape on one o the stacking kit side brackets.

    2 Fit the side bracket to the side o the washertop as shown in the above illustration. Firmlypress the adhesive area o the bracket to thewasher surace. Secure the side bracket tothe washer with a screw on the back side othe bracket. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to attachthe other side bracket.
