We haven’t seen much rain this year, but there is no mistake - it feels like winter! It’s impressive to see the dedication of so many of our members this time of year, doing whatever it takes to keep their wellness routines going. Whether it’s in the pool at 5:30 AM, on the tennis courts with the early bird players, or late in the evening with the men’s group, our members don’t let the weather get in their way! As we look forward to spring, new changes are on the way, starting with extended Café hours beginning March 14th. Soon, the chef will be offering a few dinner items for sit down or takeout, Wednesday through Saturday until 7 p.m., so stop by on your way home and let us do the cooking! We are also opening our new spin studio later in spring. It will feature all new, top-of-the-line bikes, new sound, new programs, and a new location! Also relocating this spring, is the Salon, which will move upstairs to the corner location, with expanded services and a whole new look. In March, we will be closing Refuge for the first time since it opened in 2011. Repair work on the pools, new upgrades to the sauna, and a new steam room are just some of the projects that will take place from March 12-14, 2018. Many of you have asked about the recent rise in car break-ins on the peninsula, and around the club, and we are responding. We are currently in the process of upgrading our security around CVAC, as well as our presence in the parking areas. We have asked for more patrols by the local sheriff’s office, and have been in communication with them to learn just what we can do to make us all safer, wherever we are. Lastly, I’d like to finish by saying that what makes a great club is always a combination of caring members and a dedicated staff. All of us at CVAC work hard to make this a club that everyone can enjoy, and we encourage each of you to be considerate of your fellow members and do your part. I see people being kind and sharing the facility every day in a way that makes the club feel more like family and not just a place to work out. If everyone shows just a lile kindness, it will go a long way in keeping this a club that we can all be proud of. I hope to see you at the club real soon! We haven’t seen much rain this year, but there is no mistake - it feels like winter! It’s impressive to see the dedication of so many of our members this time of year, doing whatever it takes to keep their wellness routines going. PILATES CLASS DESCRIPTIONS MIXED EQUIPMENT CLASSES: This total body workout is ideal for those who are new to Pilates, but is challenging enough for experienced clients who want to refine their skills and concentrate on the Pilates fundamentals. Intermediate & advanced levels build upon the fundamental knowledge and strength developed in prior classes .

M.E. (MIXED EQUIPMENT) SCULPT: This class puts additional focus on working the abs, butt, and arms! It can act as additional muscles to aid the body on its path to health while you work towards efficient movement patterns, and it can also provide resistance to build strong muscles and bones. RESTORATIVE REFORMER + ZFITNESS: A gentle version of the reformer class modified to be safe for clients with joint issues including arthritis, osteoporosis or injury. TEA TASTING at Carmel Valley Athletic Club

Wednesday, March 21st 5:30 to 7:00 pm

Kaleo Indigo will be o ering samples of three di erent teas while sharing slides of tea from his trips to China. Come, relax, enjoy the

company of others, and warm yourself up with tea.

Kaleo Indigo is a tea enthusiast and enjoys the subtle di erences in the avors, scents and characteristics that make up loose-leaf tea. Tea was always around Kaleo growing

up, especially sun tea, which his father would make. He was introduced to the art of steeping loose-leaf tea during his rst trip to China in 2003, and since then, only would drink tea from a bag if there were no other option and he was dying of thirst.

Kaleo has been practicing healing arts through various styles of bodywork, movement therapy, nutrition and health for the past 23 years. Besides teaching TaiJi/Qigong

Fusion, Senior Fit, and, occasionally, Yoga at CVAC, he continues to facilitate others towards a better way of health at his o ce in Monterey and at Spa Alila at Ventana

in Big Sur. And he loves to pour tea.
