Join Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology in welcoming Meg Hutchinson for an exciting conversation about her life, her experience with bipolar disorder, and her recovery through art, spiritual practice, and mental health advocacy with Active Minds. Friday March 27 th from 6 8pm Wilde Auditorium University of Hartford Meg Hutchinson is a Bostonbased singer songwriter, poet, and recording artist on Red House Records. At 19, she began struggling with the deep depressions that accompanied the onset of bipolar I disorder. After becoming suicidal and being hospitalized several times, Meg took control of her treatment and now tells her story of recovery through art, spiritual practice, and mental health advocacy. Meg is a touring musician and poet who has been featured as part of her collaborative group, Winterbloom, at Lilith Fair. Meg has studied meditation at the Sakya Institute in Cambridge, MA and is a certified yoga instructor. Meg shares her home with a loveable pit bull, Austin, who is pursuing his therapy dog certification. “Meg Hutchinson is an extraordinary singer, songwriter, and advocate for those with mental illness.
