it gives me great pleasure in introducing to you mica’s Executive Post Graduate Programme. india is one of the fastest

started in 1991, mudra institute of communications, ahmedabad (mica) is a communication manage-
ment education institution. mica has set a precedent as the first residential academic institution
in the country and perhaps in the asia-Pacific region wholly dedicated to meeting the needs of the
integrated marketing communications industry. the institute complements the role of management
education towards modernising and professionalising communications-driven businesses.

about PgPCMX
Having witnessed the ever-changing landscape of management education, mica sensed the need to adapt to the latest
trends. the next logical step for mica was the conception of a management programme for executive level professionals.
thus, the Executive Post Graduate diploma in management (communications) – PGPcmx was flagged off in 2008 after
about two years of research and planning. this is a 15-month, full-time residential, aictE-approved programme.
the intellectual capital available at mica provides a challenging environ-
ment for the students. in addition, it seeks to help them think faster and
more creatively. the course also tries to broaden the understanding of
organisational dynamics in order to improve the design and implementation
of new initiatives. consequently, the PGPcmx curriculum requires all
students to undergo a global immersion through a study tour in Germany
& switzerland along with a residential dual degree awarding masters in
Global communication at anglia ruskin university, cambridge. the
PGPcmx, while aiming to offer the participants to the media & entertain-
ment, retail and design industry, develops perspective and aptitude to
serve these industry sectors in the globalised environment. the curriculum
expands the participant’s perspective and creates an aptitude to work
across cultures and serve an array of industries.
the programme links work experience and educational knowledge to the desired domain of each participant. as a
conclusion to their formal education, each student would write a dissertation on a subject of their choice. they will be
guided by academicians and professionals towards application of their theoretical learning in the business domain.

dual dEGrEEthe present batch of students at mica is awarded with dual degrees; a Post Graduate diploma in management
(communications) from mudra institute of communications, ahmedabad and m.a. in Global communications from
anglia ruskin university at cambridge, uK. the students spend one term with international students who join the dual
degree programme at the aforementioned university. Following this, the cross cultural experience continued with the
international students studying at mica. studying with students of other nationalities and staying at cambridge gives
the students a first-hand experience in understanding new cultures. the entire batch stayed and studied as a cohort
and absorbed the cultural nuances as they immersed themselves in the city life. to embrace student life to its fullest
potential student took up various assignments apart from what the course stipulated. some students worked on a
project with a large multinational corporation, some chose to work on projects with non-profit organizations, while
others chose other forms of part-time employment.
akin to the high standards set by mica, anglia ruskin university also
lays a heavy emphasis on interaction with industry professionals and
academicians. For the purpose of securing the dual degree, students
submit two dissertations, one to mica and the other to its partner
university in cambridge. in both cases guidance is provided by renowned
academicians and professionals towards applying their theoretical
learning in the business domain. this unique exposure has prepared our
students to take on global opportunities.
gloBal immErsionas an integral part of the course, the Executive Post Graduate diploma
in management (communications) – PGPcmx program includes a
global immersion. Here students attend workshops for a concentrated
and holistic exposure to multiple cultures and communities. this year
the students travelled to two countries: switzerland and germany.

the class of 2010 comprises seven ambitious professionals who quit their jobs at a time when the economic recession
was at its peak and took a risk, with confidence in their ability and valuing the constant rewards associated with the
higher learning provided by mica and anglia ruskin university. the 2010 batch brought with them a cumulative work
experience of 59 years from diverse industries. this diversity enhanced the learning experience of our participants. the
valuable insights from their respective industries helped in knowledge sharing and interactions.
the batch size is small but they are seven enthusiastic learners, who have put their faith in academia, undeterred by
the economic downturn. the limited size in turn provided the participants with an opportunity to interact closely with
their peers and the faculty.
