Hello everyone,
7/29/2019 Midsem syllabus

Skipping any topic may be a bad idea this time. We have been
told that there are three papers and Mallikarjun Sir has been
asked not to repeat any of the topics in any of the questions.
So you might get any paper. We asked him how many questions
are there in a paper, and he told us that there are either 4
or 5, depending on which paper you will get.
He was clear on the fact that the questions are application
based. For example, he will most likely give a chunk of facts
in a single question. Then there may be a series of questions
which may follow which will ask you to identify the section,
then identify the principle and ask you to apply using case
laws.
Please focus on the cases which he has done in class. One of
the best way to study is to make a case list for each section
he has done. He told us that he won't deduct marks for notknowing the entire case name. This basically means that if you
get confused with long South Indian names such as
Karpagathachi v. Nagarathinathachi (this one is on Section
6(a) on what can be transferred and what can not)you can just
remember one of the name. How you do that is up to you. We
like to make dirty jokes while remembering names :) You need
to make sure you know the facts of the case well and the
decision as well when you write your answers. This is
something Mallikarjun sir told us directly.
We'll give you a few more tips throughout the week. But pleasemake sure you guys don't skip any topic. Or this is what might
happen to you...

Lastly, don't think that the question will be very dull. Contrary to popular
belief, Mallikarjun Sir set a brilliant question paper which made us think a
lot. He taught all three of us Administrative Law in 3rd year and Land Laws in
5th year.
All the best!

And regarding the Posner reading he asked us not to not to worry about deconstruction and new crits for this exam but rather to concentrate on the part that deals with law and literature and the similaritiesand differences in their interpretation.
Also, he wanted to know if we want a general revision session with him tomorrow at whatever time weare comfortable with. I need to tell him by tomorrow so please reply ASAP. Shylock's Humanity is a part of mid-sem portions. - Megha.
