Back in Marymount’s early years, orientation involved pairing each freshman girl with a big sister, who would serve as mentor and guide to campus life. The handbooks provided information on what to bring, important campus events, places to see in the Washington region, and more. Step back in time through this online exhibit . Additional information about the handbooks can be found here under "Little Sisters Handbooks." 2) “Ladies Swing the Blues” Black Alumni Network Event Raises Funds for Book Scholarship On Sunday, March 10, a group of MU alumni and their guests, pictured below, attended the Metro Stage production of “Ladies Swing the Blues,” which explores the jazz folklore, mythologies, and backstage stories of the 1940s and '50s. The group was treated to a “Meet the Cast” reception following the show. Over $1,800 was raised through ticket sales from the event to benefit the Black Alumni Book Scholarship , which assists students with the often overlooked expense of college textbooks.
