Our Matariki theme this year is Marama the moon and nocturnal birds and insects,

specific to Tairāwhiti. Students will be introduced to the Māori lunar calendar and

recognise that Matariki marks the beginning of the Māori New Year and recognise

that living things are suited to their particular habitat.

Workshops include students making an artwork to take home and a contibution to a

class artwork for the museums's children's exhibition in October 2018.

Art workshops connect students with our changing exhibitions. Workshops are

designed to support the development of student's art skills based on artists

techniques and process, such as drawing, sculpting, screen printing, painting,

photography or mixed media. Talk to us about what's on offer.
