Introduction.

Hi.This is a collection of compositions that I created during this school year. This book shows the type of activities we have at Prepa 1 in our English class.

I have written 5 compositions and I want to show them the topics of this book are varied, insomuch as I wrote a description of my friend, I told about food of a restaurant, I could describe my favorite book and other things.

Learning Reflection.

Writing helps me practice English to learn the vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and how to communicate in writing.

I think what these activities are very helpful. Is one form to learn English easy!

I hope that this book is of his pleasure.

Name: Ulises Vázquez Occupation: student

He is my brother and he studies in CCH Sur. He wants to become a doctor but his notes aren’t very high. He lives in Tulyehualco with his family. He likes playing soccer and he doesn’t like eating vegetables.

He is very tall and he will be 18 years old soon so he’s going to ask his IFE ID card.He works with his parents in Coyoacán making metallic figures.He started studying in CCH 3 years ago and he is thinking of doing the exam and get a place in the Medicine College.He tries to be a good brother.

Unit 2. Eating & Drinking.

Hello I am Jazmín. I will tell you about my favorite restaurant. My favorite restaurant is in San Angel. It is named San Angel Inn

*they serve, very good Chilaquiles. They use Mexican ingredients for example: green jalapeño, onions, cheese, tortillas.

*The menu includes:Huevos rancheros, pozole, mole verde, enchiladas de mole, pato al horno.

*You can choose from: breakfast, lunch, dinner or buffet

*Dishes come with a dessert

*The restaurant has a very good selection of wines I´d like to add that the restaurant is next to Diego Rivera place.Also the street name is Diego Rivera.

Dear Mr Ellis,

I am getting in touch about your advertisement for a major international sporting event in July.

I like all sports, especially athletics. I speak English, Spanish and I'm learning French.

I have been a guide at many events at Escuela Nacional Preparatoria and once I travelled to Cancun to participate in a touristic event.

Mobile phone: Impossible to live without it!

Nowadays, mobile phones are essential for people.People waste more than 80% of their free time using it.So it’s so difficult that you can, see someone without a mobile phone.It´s the most relevant advance in this century.

First of all, I think that, they are easy to carry wherever you go, because they’re small and multifunctional.

In my opinion mobile phones keep people in touch whenever. They have too some disadvantages such as:They attract robbers or some people think that they are easy to lose, because of their size.

In conclusion I believe that mobile phones are very nice and funny. I think they are a good option when you are sad, happy or lonely.In addition, I can’t live without them.

Unit 7. Science & TechnologyHas the computer changed your life?

Nowadays, with computers we can almost do everything we want.Before they were very expensive and big, but now, we can get them cheaper and smaller.

We can do many projects, investigations, editions, calls, etc.They substituted writing machines, calculator, telephones, etc.

We can carry them wherever we go but there are several disadvantages such as they need to be charged, they are heavy, some of them need a mouse and need to have a modem or antenna. One of the main disadvantages is that people have lost their writing practice and too many people spend lots of time in front of them, just wasting time.

In conclusion, if we use them in a useful way, they provide us benefits, but we can also waste your valuable time.Please, don't forget our best friends; our books.

Unit 8. Time & Money

And you, how do you spend your free time?

Nowadays, our free time must be spent wisely. Many people think that we have more free time than our grandparent did, but is that true?We know there are many different activities that we can do now, but it´s necessary to choose the best option.

1.- Is it certainly true that we have a lot more free time that our grandparents did?.I think it depend on each person. Everyone has different activities through the day.

2.- People could use their free time more wisely?.I agree. For instance, if we're going to watch T.V., we should see a documentary program. If we're going to surf the net, we should investigate a real task.Instead of playing a videogame, we could practice an active sport.

3.- Is important for families to spend more time together?I agree it´s very necessary to promote real communication among each family member and activities such as: planning a walk together or chatting lunch time about each family member´s daily routine.

4.- We should spend more of our free time doing exercise and outdoor activities?I believe it is a good idea to do these activities. They provide you a good physical condition and a very nice appearance

5.- There are not enough things for young people to do in their free time?I don't agree young people, could study most of the time, they need to do much exercise, enroll in extracurricular activities, help family members, from part of a reading club or maybe walk the dog.

to sum up everything I said before, I only want to tell you that the best way to spend our free time is way we feel satisfied and happy.

Unit 9. Time & Money18

Money! No happiness but necessary.

1.- It is certainly true that we have a lot more money that our grandparents did.I agree. I think most of our grandparents weren't well prepared and they were farmers or something like that, so that they had a poor payment.

2.- People could use their money more wisely.I agree. We can save more money doing actions like these:just to buy things that we need. Don't spend much money in alcohol. Get up earlier than usually in order to avoid taking a taxi.

3.- Is important for families to spend more money in them.I think this statement is good. Many parents must spend their money on things they really need and invest in their children's education.

4.- We should spend more money doing exercise and other activities.I don't agree. Unfortunately, money is too difficult to get. In addition, it isn´t necessary to enroll to gyms or clubs like them.

5.- There is enough money for young people.In my opinion, young people spend their money in things that aren't useful or necessary. Many people believe that young people should work and earn their own money in order to realize that it is so hard to get it. I believe that young people need to be aware of the way they spend their money. Sometimes, young people spend money stupidly.

Unit 10. Home & AwayCoyoacan

To. EmmanuelHello dear friend. I can recommend you the best place to visit in my beautiful Mexico. It's obviously “Coyoacan”.

It´s full of attractions, events and magic. Many tourists go there every day. It´s wonderful activities can take place indoor or outdoor. There I have lived great part of my life, so I can say that its food is so delicious and healthy, of course it´s necessary to mention the great variety of amazing dessert.

“El café Jarocho” is one of my favorite places to spend my free time. While you’re walking around the downtown you could be enjoying a fascinating chocolate ice cream.

Near the downtown we can see some museums, ancient churches or The Artesanal Bazar.

Ah! If you want to laugh a little stop at the Mime´s show.

P.D: There is a park where you can relax yourself; we call it “Los Viveros”. You can´t miss this wonderful place.

Unit 11. Home & Away.

Tulyehualco, Xochimilco…

Hi Flor.

How've you been? I hope you're okay.Let is called Tulyehualco the land my beautiful town.

It is called Tulyehualco “La Tierra del Olivo y el Amaranto”, but its real name is Santiago Tulyehualco. Native inhabitants are called chiquihuiteros, but I don't like it.

It is located in the south of Mexico City between San Juan Ixtayopan and san Luis Tlaxialtemalco town.

Its main attractions are its traditional fairs such as “La Nieve” and “Olivo and Amaranto”. You can take a walk

around “Tehutli” which is a volcano, enjoy delicious ice cream and nutritious alegria bars.

From many places in this town you can have of seeing the great view of the volcanoes “La Icctazíhuatl” and “El Popocatepetl”. The worst thing about Tulyehualco is that there aren't big quiet

and it has too many traditions like “Chinelos”, a traditional dance where people go dancing along streets with their faces covered by masks.
