Basic and enhanced device users also have the option to choose from the 300MB, 2GB or a 5GB plans. Smartphones Smartphone users (Android™, BlackBerry™ and Windows Mobile™) will be able to choose from 300MB, 2GB or 5GB of data. All Value Pack pricing for smartphones includes text messages, picture messages and location-based services such as Google Maps™ or Latitude™, as well as a free feature that allows you to use a capable device as a Wi-Fi HotSpot to connect other devices like laptops, tablets and gaming devices to the Internet. Cellcom customers currently have two data package options: a 200MB or a 5GB plan. When smart phones launched, offering two data plans met the existing consumer needs. But as the number of smart phones users skyrocketed and the availability of data-intensive applications expanded exponentially, there was a dramatic surge in data consumption and traffic on Cellcom’s network. Although many customers are now using data, they embrace the technology to varying degrees. Light users may browse the mobile web to check the weather or sports scores and perhaps send a few picture messages. Average users might download a few apps a week, watch short YouTube™ videos and occasionally use Google maps. And the very tech savvy, heavy data users are likely to use Pandora™ as their primary music source, download apps almost daily and regularly view YouTube™ content, TV or movies on their device. This significant shift in the number of data users and the tremendous variance in the amount of data consumed by each customer led to a reevaluation of Cellcom’s data plans. On April 1 Cellcom will introduce additional data tiers and new pricing. Customers will have the option to choose a 75MB, 300MB, 2GB or 5GB data plan. For the 97 percent of Cellcom’s smartphone users who are consuming less than 2GB of data, the new pricing tiers will have little to no impact on the cost of a monthly data plan. By redefining our pricing model and data tiers, users will now be paying according to the amount of data used. You will remain on your current data plan until you upgrade. When you upgrade, your Cellcom representative will review your past data history and recommend a plan that best matches your usage patterns. At the time of upgrade, most customers currently on the 5GB plan will move to the 2GB plan and most customers on the 200 MB plan will move to the comparable 300MB plan, resulting in little to no impact on the monthly cost of the data plan. FAQWhat data plan should i choose?Currently 97 percent of smart phone users consume less than 2GB of data, 89 percent use less than 1GB of data, and 58 percent use less than 300MB of data. Take a look at your data history to find out what plan meets your needs.

how can i check my data usage? You can do this by logging in or registering for myCellcom or contacting Customer Care by calling 611 from your Cellcom phone or 800-236-0055, launching a chat or sending us an email. Cellcom’s data calculator is also a useful tool for new smartphone users to help estimate the amount of data that will be used every month to choose the plan that is best for you.

When does data pricing change?Prices are effective as of April 1, 2012. You will remain on your current data plan until upgrading to a new device. If you change to a 3G-device you already own or pay full retail price for, you will also remain on the old data tier. All customers upgrading to a 4G-device, regardless of whether it is customer-owned or purchased at full-retail, will need to change to the new data tiers.

Are there changes to the family data plan?Family plan pricing has new tiers, as well. There will be two tiers for the Family Value Pack pricing. The 2GB family plan will be $40 and includes 2GB of data, Wi-Fi HotSpot for one primary and up to four add-a-lines, and unlimited messaging. The 5GB family plan will be $120 and includes 5GB of data, Wi-Fi HotSpot for one primary and up to four add-a-lines, and unlimited messaging. On either of these options, add a smartphone for an additional $20 per line. Data is not shared in the family plans, but rather each line gets the same allotment of data (2GB and 5GB, respectively).

What if i go over my monthly allotment for data? how much are overages? When selecting your data plan, a Cellcom representative will review your data usage and help you select a plan that best fits your current usage pattern. If that usage pattern changes, a Cellcom representative can help you adjust your plan to better fit your needs.

If you go over your monthly data allotment, there is a standard overage fee of $10. This fee purchases a new bucket of data so you are not charged per KB. The amount of extra data purchased by the overage fee depends on your plan. See the chart to the right for details.

how can i monitor my data usage? You can monitor your data usage by logging in or registering for myCellcom or by dialing #MIN from your Cellcom device. You can also contact Customer Care for this information, by calling 611 from your Cellcom phone or 800-236-0055, launching a chat or sending us an email.
