The first stop on this series is 13 Coins Restaurant in Bellevue. One of our cooking in-structors and a professional chef, Dave Dekker, wel-comes you at the restaurant. Enjoy their classy and inspirational menus. The group will choose the second and third eateries from a list of options. SP15/T-02 Guided TourART AT SAKAI SCHOOL – HISTORY OF JAPANESE AMERICANS OF BAINBRIDGE ISLANDLearn and honor the history and culture of Japanese Americans of Bainbridge Island. Located at the heart of Bainbridge Island Sonoji Sakai Intermediate School offers a unique Japanese American art display. The work of art tells about Bainbridge Island’s Japanese American experience as they were forced to leave in 1942 and yet it is very beautiful and lovely. We will also visit the Bainbridge Historical Museum and the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial located on the site of the former Eagledale ferry dock where over two hundred men and women were forcibly removed from home. ベインブリッジ島日系人の歴史と文化に触れる旅。坂井園治氏の名前を冠した学校でベンブリッジ島の日系人の歴史展示を鑑賞します。

Conrad Mansion Museum: Charles E. Conrad built this Victorian home in 1895 designed by a Spokane archi-tect, Kirtland Cutter. Mr. Mokutaro Hori, an Issei from Oita prefecture Japan, worked here as a horse keeper and a house boy.Stumptown Historical Society and Whitefish Museum: Located in the heart of Whitefish, you can explore the area’s logging and railroad history. This is where Mr. Mokutaro Hori worked his way up to a successful busi-ness owner in the late 19th century.Glacier National Park: Glacier National Park is the center of the largest and most intact ecosystems in North America. Lake McDonald Lodge: This historic hunting lodge was built in 1914, nestled on the shores of the largest lake inside Glacier National Park. Enjoy tasty lunch and spectacular views from the window. It originated as a set of small man-made fort is-lands (daiba literally means “fort”), which were built towards the end of the Edo Period (1603-1868) to pro-tect Tokyo and specifically in response to the gunboat diplomacy of Commodore Perry.

Memoirs preserve the stories of our lives and cap-ture moments in history. Your perceptions of people, places and experiences are unique. Local author Janine Brodine will lead you in writing techniques that will help you capture forgotten moments and bring them to life on paper. Prepare to do some writing during each session and to share some writing with the class. Please bring paper or a computer to class. You will also learn how to make a plan that includes special needs like medicine and medical equipment in a disaster. An Outreach and

Training Specialist from City of Seattle Office of Emergency Management will show you how to assem-ble an affordable emergency kit, set up a personal safety network, and how to stay safe in an earthquake.

Credits are valid until they are used up to take other classes. Refund checks take 2~3 weeks to process. Annual membership will not be refunded or credited in any case.

WAIVER: All participants must sign a Nikkei Concerns Waiver on the registration form each quarter before attending any class, workshop or tour.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is complete when full payment is received.

Only those properly registered for a class or tour may participate. Students will NOT be contacted prior to the start of a class or workshop unless it is cancelled or they are placed on the waiting list. Those on a class, workshop or tour waiting list must be paid in full and will be notified as openings occur. Waiting lists will not carry over to the following quarter (With the exception of computer classes).

REGISTRATION: On-line registration for winter quarter will begin on March 2, 2015 and paper registration for winter quarter will begin on March 16, 2015. Registration will NOT be accepted prior to this date. Summer quarter starts the week of April 13, 2015 with the exception of some tours

PAYMENT: Payment by check, credit card and cash is accepted. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express.

MEMBERSHIP FEE: $30 annual membership fee (non-refundable) is valid from September 2014 through August 2015.

PARKING: For classes at the Seattle Buddhist Church (SBC), students may use the church parking lot on the corner of 16th Ave. S. and S. Main St. For classes at Nikkei Manor, parking is limited. For classes at Bellevue Children’s Academy, parking is available on site. Please carpool or use public transportation whenever possible. Nikkei Concerns is not responsible for any loss or damage for parked vehicles and/or contents at any location.

TOURS: Most tours depart from the SBC parking lot (SBC/PL) on the corner of 16th Ave. S. & S. Main St. Return time is always approximate. Only those with confirmed reservations will receive a reminder telephone call from Nikkei Horizons staff prior to the tour date.

CLASSES: Classes are scheduled for 8 weeks, unless otherwise specified.
