Message from the ChairpersonAs the Chairperson of the pow wow, I want to first of all thank the Creator for a successful powwow. I am pleased to announce that there has been an overwhelming amount of compliments that have neen received and I want to thank the “team” that pulled off a successful celebration. I have an awesome group of people that are assigned tasks at the powwow and each does their jobs to the fullest; very grateful for that. Cecil Crier with protocol and ceremony, Marlene Green with fundraising, Maureen Buffalo with clerical, administration and initiations, Clayton Bruno with security, Patrick Buffalo and Shannon Buffalo with special competitions, Ordell Saddleback with wood and championship jackets. We also had Dorothy Simon with handgames, Darryl Mon-tour with slo-pitch, Kacey Yellowbird with 5k & 10k run, Charmiane Crane with parade, Lorna Bull-Rain with the Elders tent, Mario Swampy with golf; finally keep your eyes open for hockey which was postponed but will still be an event in the near future. Last but not least Debra Buffalo and the Community Initiatives Group, they are such an awesome group of workers who assisted in the preparations of facility, and where available throughout the weekend for odd tasks. It would be selfish for me to take all credit for the success of the event but these individuals all had a role and responsiblility in the process and did an awesome job! In addition, I want to provide a brief synopsis of how monies is received and expended. Yes, Samson with FNDF (First Nation Development Fund; Gaming Funds) provide the powwow with a cushion of funding. Bingo operates all year round to fund the main amenities at the powwow (toilets, lights, water, protocols and give-away). The prizes that are distributed come from donations from Peace Hills General Insurance, Peace Hills Trust, Samson Management, industry partners and businesses in Wetaskiwin. Which I greatly appreciate, and cannot thank enough. With that, I am available if you have any concerns.Ekosi Pitama..Ninanaskomon..Councillor Holly Johnson-Rattlesnake
