2016 Treaty Days

SCN held Treaty Days on May 19 & 20 in two locations this year.

May 19 : Pigeon Lake Recreation Centre Treaty Days in conjunction with Mimiw

Sakakihkan School Powwow on May 19, 2016.

May 20 : HBMC on May 20, 2016. SCN Celebrated with a Bouncy Castle for the

Kids, Pie Throwing, Hamburgers and Hotdogs for all.

Historical Overview:

At treaty signing, the chiefs and headmen pledged allegiance to the Crown and

agreed to follow the laws of the land. In return, they received a number of promises

such as Education, Assistance in times of famine, A Medicine Chest (HealthCare), and

other social programs. The Crown received the land base to build Western Canada.

The Spirit and Intent of the Treaties are the basis of how we live Today, we still re-

ceive $5. While it buys much less now, the money represents an important link to

our past and reminds us that our Treaties are real

Thank you to all the Volunteers and Membership that made the event a success ...

Community Garden

The Samson Community Garden is located beside the 4 Nations Arena.

Volunteer your time and gardening skills towards this project and you will be

able to share in whatever the garden produces. Which is the goal of the project.

The planting has been done, but the general upkeep, watering and weeding has

to be taken care of until the garden produces and is ready for harvesting
