No more limits

Some things in life are more prac-tical than beautiful. For exam-ple bicycle helmets, thermal un-derwear, or parking meters. And:va-cuum panels. Vacuum panelsare the large surface areas whichonly “dress“ the bottle for one rea-son. They maintain the container‘sshape during hotlling. Whether you nd panels beautiful or not isup to you.

If you and your customers preferpanel-less bottles, we have goodnews for you.Our NitroHotll technology keepshotlled containers stable by in-creasing their interior pressure. Itmakes unaesthetic vacuum pan-els and hotll bases a thing of thepast. It gives you completely newopportunities for your productdesign. And, if you wish, you caneven hotll lightweight containerswith NitroHotll. It‘s nice not to be

restricted!

This is how NitroHotll works:

NitroHotll can be easily retrottedin existing lines or installed newly asa complete blow moulder-ller bloc. Two elements form the core of thistechnology:

First of all:

Relaxation in the blow moulder

■ First the bottles are blown via theRelax Cooling (RC) process. A spe-cial cooling and stretching rodcools the bottles from inside whilethey are blown.

■ The result: The bottles are morestable and can therefore with-stand dierent pressure ratios.

■ A positive “side eect“ of theRC process is signicantly re-duced costs. The air cooling proc-ess which has been optimisedfor e-ciency requires much lesscompressed air than bottle rins-ing which is common in the nor-mal hotll process. In addition, this process enables the use of alu-minium moulds. They are not onlycheaper than steel moulds, theycan also be changed quicklier in-creasing the station output of up

to 2,000 bottles per hour.

Secondly:

Nitrogen after lling

■ The heart of NitroHotll is its ni-trogen dosing system which is in-stalled between the ller and thecapper. After lling, it applies aprecise quantity of liquid nitrogenin the headspace of the bottle. Im-mediately after this, the bottle iscapped.

■ The nitrogen in the bottle be-comes gaseous, which is caused bythe ambient temperature. There-fore, its inner pressure rises by 1.5- 2 bar.

■ In the chiller, the temperature of the hotlled beverage is loweredagain. With the traditional hot-ll process, a negative pressure isgenerated which changes the bot-tle shape. However, with the Nitro-Hotll process, the nitrogen slowsdown the signicant pressure

drop. After chilling, a stabilisingresidual pressure of 0.3 to 0.5 barremains in the bottle.

■ The result: The bottle is stabilisedthrough the interior pressure andkeeps its shape also when cooleddown.

Your benets

There are several benets of theNitroHotll technology:

Bottle design

With the traditional hotll process, you are forced to use a panel de-sign for your PET bottle. NitroHot-ll keeps containers stable withoutvacuum panels. This gives you the

opportunity for a completely newproduct design.

Material costs

NitroHotll enables to combinelightweighting with hotlling. Thisway, material costs can be reducedsignicantly.

Blow moulding

Use of aluminium mould and reducedcompressed air requirement. The re-sult: Increased station output of upto 2,000 bottles per hour and savingsin energy of up to 40 percent when

compared to the traditional hotllprocess.

During labelling

The panel-less bottles do not require“Special treatment“ during label-ling. This way, they can basically bedressed with the same label type likesoft drink containers, which often iseven less expensive.

During conveyance

Better bottle stability is also notice-able during conveyance. The bottlescan be handled much easier duringseparation on conveyors or when be-ing guided in lanes. This increases the

degree of eciency of the entire line.

During storage

Regardless if refrigerator or vendingmachine: NitroHotll bottles can beused for a wide range of applicationsand they keep their shape in all situ-ations.
