From the picture I can see a pair of proud compasses and a hard-working pencil. The compasses are big, drawing a circle with ease, while the pencil is small, drawing a line with great effort. I think the compasses are reasonable to be proud because no one else can do the job better.

Page 4: NMET2012 (Beijing) 开放作文. NMET2008 (Beijing) 开放作文

At the same time, however, he should realize the pencil has his own advantages. The pencil can do other shapes better than the compasses, even pictures. So in my opinion, while we are confident in ourselves, we should recognize strengths in others and show due respect for them.

(2012)One possible version: I think the white pencil, looking proud

and delighted, is laughing at the black pencil by saying “You’re nearing the end!” The black pencil, on the other hand, remains calm. The white pencil’s words let him fall into deep thoughts. He clearly remembers he has been used in writing and drawing.

Page 6: NMET2012 (Beijing) 开放作文. NMET2008 (Beijing) 开放作文

It’s true that he’s approaching the end but he has been living a memorable life and there has rarely been a dull moment.

In reality, we should learn from the black pencil: not to mind what others say so long as we are confident in what we have done.

Page 7: NMET2012 (Beijing) 开放作文. NMET2008 (Beijing) 开放作文

Two pencils are on the table, a white one and a black one. The white pencil is long and new, and looks really fresh and vigorous. Of course, he has every reason of taking pride in himself. But for the black, things are quite different: he’s short and small, and compared with the white, the black seems a bit too miserable. It’s clear that he has been used too much.

Page 8: NMET2012 (Beijing) 开放作文. NMET2008 (Beijing) 开放作文

The white pencil, being obviously superior, should be modest and show his concern to the black. But he doesn’t. Instead, he says “You’re nearing the end!” How wrong he is when he is saying so to a person like that!

Someday in his future, I think, when he himself is nearing the end, he would strongly feel his rudeness is highly regrettable!

If I were the black pencil, I would say to him, “Damn on you!”

In the picture, between two closely-located buildings grows a big tree. Unlike most trees, this one bends in the middle , struggling all the way up to get more sunshine. The picture reminds me of those who succeed in unfavorable conditions. Faced with difficulties, they never give up but try their best to find a way out. Life can be hard. But if we have the courage and determination, we will finally get the sunshine we want as the tree in the picture does.

As we can see in the picture, Xiao Ming , a student, stands at a table staring at a birdcage with a cat in it. He looks puzzled. How can the cat be kept in the birdcage when it should be free to play inside or outside the house? It is certainly feeling uneasy, unhappy and uncomfortable. (Its owner should have thought about its nature --- it loves freedom. )

It is certain for the cat to feel uneasy, unhappy and uncomfortable.

A: The picture attempts to conveyattempts to convey a message that whether children or small animals, they should have their own places suited to their nature. Unnecessary limitation should be removed. Only in this way can they have healthy development both physically and mentally.

B: The picture clearly shows that small animals should be taken proper care of, and given suitable places for their living. And it seems to be the same with a child. Too much limitation will desdroy his healthy development, both physically and mentally.

Some people prefer to join a package tour, which they think costs less than an individual tour. Besides, it’s quite convenient to follow the tour guide to different scenic spots. (Meanwhile, they can easily get to know some new friends. )

What is better still, in a package tour, they can easily make friends with each

other, and this is really fantastic for them.

Some other people, however, just like to travel individually, mainly because it gives them great freedom. They can adjust their plan so that their trip is always full of interesting things. Their only concern is accommodations.

Personally, I prefer the second way. Traveling on my own, I can decide where to stay (a little longer and which spot can be skipped over to save energy or time for another spot. True, I may encounter inconveniences in finding accommodations. But nothing can be compared with freedom, which is important to a person who takes a holiday trip mainly for relaxation. )
