HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEPTEMBER! “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken." Psalm 16:8 NIV Dean Majette, Senior Pastor Rev. Paul Brill, Minister of Music Rev. Wilson Macá, Minister of International Missions Mr. Garrett Wolf, Minister to Children and Youth Mrs. Alberta Aikin, Congregational Care A Message from the Community Care Team The Deacon Community Care Team focuses on three mission areas. First, we seek to support church ministries that reach out to our community, such as the Clothing Giveaway and Vacation Bible School. Second, we have pledged to support Alberta Aikin, Pastoral Assistant for Congregational and Spiritual Care, in her ministry. Third, we seek to support and expand Ox Hill’s dynamic outreach mission to our Chantilly neighbors. In addition to these three areas, team members stand ready along with all other Deacons to support new and existing initiatives, regardless of their source. The Community Care Team recently served the Clothing Giveaway by assisting Julie Germain and the Women’s Ministry by spending several evenings sorting donated clothes and preparing for the event. At the event, we participated by helping our neighbors find clothing for their children as they prepare for another school year. At the Vacation Bible School carnival, the Community Care Team served by distributing informational flyers about Ox Hill, Rio Poderoso and World Vision. We stand ready to assist other Ox Hill Ministries — we welcome requests! The Community Care Team is seeking ways to assist Alberta in her role. We have helped by providing transportation to medical appointments when the individuals were unable to drive themselves. As Alberta’s ministry grows and develops, we hope and plan to be there to support her and our neighbors. The Community Care Team serves the outreach efforts of Ox Hill. For the coming year, we are expanding our efforts to better serve Rio Poderoso and our Youth and Children ministries. For Rio Poderoso, we have expanded our triennial mass mailouts to include 1,000 new contacts in areas that have a significant Hispanic population. We are exploring other ideas to serve Rio Poderoso. We are also working with Garrett Wolf, Minister to Youth and Children, to reach additional prospects; for example, after Vacation Bible School, we identified over 100 prospective children. We are also exploring other ideas with Garrett as to how we can serve him and our community better. If you have ideas or if you need support for your ministry, please contact any member of the Community Care Team: Frank Issi, Bob Laxton, Ron Mathis, and Jon Peterson. All the Deacon teams THANK YOU for every existing and new opportunity to serve!
