Dagse Novsies, hoop almal sien al lekker uit na die

lang Desember vakansie, en nog meer na die Kerskamp wat oor twee weke plaasvind te Klipdraai. Ons het heerlik lekker gekamp by die Kongres en Eastco oor die laaste twee maande, fotos volg onderaan. Weereens baie geluk aan oom Johan wat Sawanant van die jaar gewen het asook

die ander Novsies wat toekennings gekry het by die Kongres die jaar. Ek wil weereens n versoek instel om asb julle lief en leed aan my of Elize te stuur. Nou ja, geniet die leesstuk, hoop ons sien julle almal by die Kerskamp. Groete, Marnus

Hallo Novsies,

Die jaar is besig om erg spoed te vang na sy einde. So baie dinge moet nog gedoen word alvorens ons almal heerlik kan uitspan. Die van ons wat van plan is om die wa te haak en in die rigting van ons vakansie bestemming te stuur wag daar ook baie uitdagings en werk wat gedoen moet word. Waens moet hersien en gediens word, voertuie moet gediens word, en so meer.

Met die verkeersowerhede wat al hoe meer op woonwaens begin konsentreer, is dit ons plig as woonwa eienaars om te verseker dat ons die pad ordonansies gehoorsaam en weet wat ons te doen staan. Daarom wil ek ‘n beroep op julle doen om julle te vergewis van die woonwa se gewig,nie te oorlaai nie, en ook te verseker dat die sleep voertuig die korrekte gewig het, te verseker dat die lisensie korrek is, en baie meer. Kontak gerus vir Fanie Marx. Hy het ‘n volledige navorsing ge-doen. Tydens die onlangse kongres, is Jurie Dreyer weer tot Nasionale voorsitter verkies. Ek wil hom dan ook langs hierdie weg voorspoed toewens vir die volgende jaar. Groter nuus vanaf die kon-gres, en iets wat Novs nader aan die hart lê, het Johan van den Berg die trofee ontvang vir die meeste lede gewerf, asook die SAWANANT van die jaar trofee ontvang. Ons wens hom weereens baie geluk met die besondere eer wat hom te beurt geval het. Ook tydens die kongres het Corrie en Johnette Topham, Chris Turnbull, Jan Swanepoel, en Arend en Nelie Pretorius 25 jaar lidmaatskap sertifikate ontvang. Ongelukkig was plek by Koppisol baie beperk en almal kon nie die geleentheid bywoon nie. Ek sal die sertifikate en toekennings aan julle oorhandig met die eerste geleentheid. Baie geluk by voorbaat aan julle elkeen. Voor ek vergeet, geluk aan Marnus met sy eerste edisie van die Stronkie verlede jaar. Doen so voort. Hoop om julle almal in groot getalle by die komende Kerskamp te sien. Die bestuurslede sal julle kontak oor die reelings. Groete Koos

NOVSIES JEUGBLAD

Hallo Novsies

Die Nasionale saamtrek by Koppiesol in September was heerlik. Die springkasteel was geborg deur NOVS en al die kindertjies van

SAWA het baljaar op hom.

Die verhitte swembad het eindelose pret verskaf vir groot, klein, jonk en oud.

Saterdag aand het al die NOVSIES gehelp om ons tafel te versier in neon gedoentes, dit was groot pret om te sien hoe die klientjies help om alles op te helder. Ons sou beslis die

prys gewen het vir die kleurryskte tafel!

Groot en klein het deelgeneem aan die aand se verrigtinge!

Sondag na Kerkdiens het ons Sondag Skool klassie gehou en geleer oor Dawid en Goliat.

Die klein NOVSIES het gou vir die groot NOVSIES gewys hoe Dawid vir Goliat gegooi het. Heerlike pret met waterballonne, en al die groot mense moes bont staan, want ons klein NOVSIES weet waar Dawid die wortels geplant het as dit by mik en gooi

kom

Ons sien vreeslik uit na die Kerskamp by Klipdraai vanaf 27 tot 27 No-vember.

Hoop om julle almal daar te sien. Ons het n baie spesiale eregas genooi om vir ons te kom kuier saterdag, so bring al julle maaitjies, niggies en nefies saam, want ons gaan onver-

geetlike pret he met speletjies, kersgeskenke, lekkergoed pakkies, roomyse en vele meer!

Hoop om al die KLEIN NOVSIES daar te sien. Groete,

Towing in South Africa has be-

come such a complicated en-

deavour that most people today

don’t know if they are legally

towing or caravanning on our

roads due to the large number

of regulations that impact tow-

ing.

In an effort to shine some light

on South Africa’s towing regula-

tions, we invite you to take cog-

nisance of the following:

1. What does your licence en-

title you to tow?

Many motorists don’t realise that

our South African driver licences

regulate what the holder can

drive as well as what type of

trailer he or she can pull.

As a motorist you must make

sure you are able to pull a trailer

with your licence and more par-

ticularly what size of trailer.

The following codes are applica-

ble:

1.1 Code B – entitled to pull a

trailer with a maximum GVM

(gross vehicle mass ) of 750kg

1.2 Code C1 – entitled to pull a

trailer with a maximum GVM of

750 kg

1.3 Code C – entitled to pull a

trailer with a maximum GVM of

750 kg

1.4 Code EB – entitled to pull a

trailer that can exceed a GVM of

750 kg

1.5 Code EC1 – entitled to pull

a trailer that can exceed a GVM

of 750 kg

1.6 Code EC – entitled to pull a

trailer that can exceed Aa GVM

of 750 kg

2. What does Tare and Gross

vehicle mass mean?

2.1 Tare is the actual weight of

the motor vehicle as displayed

on your licence disc. It includes

your spare wheel, anything

which is a permanent part of the

structure of the motor vehicle or

anything that has been attached

as a permanent structure. It

does not include your fuel or

anything temporarily attached to

the motor vehicle.

2.2 Gross vehicle mass means

the maximum mass of the motor

vehicle and its load as specified

by that particular manufacturer.

3. How does one determine

how much can they tow legally?

Regulation 151 of the National

Road Traffic Act helps a motor-

ist determine how much she or

he can tow, which can be bro-

ken down as follows:

3.1 In order to tow a trailer of

750 kg, the tare of the drawing

vehicle must be double the

gross vehicle mass of the trail-

er. In the event that the trailer’s

Gvm does not exceed half the

tare, the trailer must be

equipped with a parking brake.

3.2 Where the GVM of the trail-

er exceeds half the tare of the

drawing vehicle but not more

than the tare of the drawing ve-

hicle, the trailer must have a

parking brake as well as a ser-

vice brake or an overrun brake.;

3.3 Please note that the above-

mentioned rules will apply to

trailers that are greater than

750kg but less than 3500kg.

4. Is it possible to tow more

than a trailer?

The National Road Traffic Act, in

particular regulation 222 deals

with this particular issue in great

detail. The Act very widely

states that you may tow the fol-

lowing:-

4.1 a drawing vehicle and one

or two trailers

4.2 a drawing vehicle which is

towing a motor vehicle which is

a not a trailer for example a

motor home

4.3 a drawing vehicle towing

another motor vehicle which is

not a trailer and another trailer,

in cases of an emergency or

breakdown.

Regulation 222 of the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 places specific restrictions on the manner in which in these combinations are to be complied with and should you be in this situation please ensure that you comply with this regulation com-pletely.

“I don’t have to outrun the bear,” his friend shouts back over his shoulder. “I just have to outrun you.”
