ST MARK’S CHURCH FAMILY NEWS
Sunday 19 May 2013
1. The Minister is away until Saturday 8 June. If you require pastoral
care please contact Rev Andrew Christie (01224 746888) or the
church office.
2. Ecumenical Service for Pentecost: tonight at 6.30 pm in Crown
Terrace Baptist Church. You are invited to this special service to
celebrate the Church’s birthday with Christians from churches all
across Aberdeen - Church of Scotland, Roman Catholic, Scottish
Episcopal, Methodist, Baptist, United Reform churches, and the
Salvation Army.
3. A Malawi Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday 25 May from 10am
- 1pm in the church hall. Any donations of baking, raffle prizes or
bottles for the bottle stall would be appreciated. Also any offers of
help would be most welcome. We look forward to your support on
that morning.
4. The Strollers will meet on Saturday 25 May at 2 pm outside the Hydro
Electric shop on Union Street. You are welcome to join them.
5. Stage Door, the Junior Drama Club, are starting the Summer Coffee
Shops on Saturday 1 June with a cabaret and coffee morning. Tickets
priced £2.50 are on sale at the close of the service this morning.
Donations of home baking, raffles and offers of help will be much
appreciated.
Normal Coffee mornings are from Saturday 8 June onwards, until 14
September - price £1.50.
6. Copies of the Coffee Shop Rota are now available in the Deacons’
Room for uplifting. Copies are also on the notice boards. Please would
anyone who is willing to help add their name to the list.
7. The OAK Café: tickets are on sale for the Special Lunch, in aid of
LifeStraws, on Thursday 6 June.
8. The Aberdeen City Centre Parish grouping Prayer Circle will meet in St
Mark’s on Wednesday 29 May at 2.30 pm. You will be made very
welcome.
9. We will be flying the flag (literally) of the Aberdeen City Centre Parish
Grouping at the third annual Celebrate Aberdeen Parade down Union
Street on Saturday 8 June. Please put that date in your diary, as we
are hoping for a big turnout from our three Grouping churches,
marching behind the Grouping banners which focus on our work with
Big Issue. ‘Muster’ is outside Harlaw Academy in Albyn Place at 11 am.
10. The Bethany Shop in Aberdeen is at 123 George Street and would
appreciate donations of clothes, accessories, books, bric-a-brac, toys,
jewellery etc. Donations can be handed into the shop. If you have
any questions please telephone the shop manager, Norma Brown,
direct on 01224 640319 or 07758 938941.
11. Bishop Graham Cray invites you to join people from all over the world
at midday day tomorrow (Monday 20 May) in an hour of prayer for
those beyond the reach of the church as it often is, for fresh
expressions of church and all who champion, lead or attend them. You
