MontageDescription:This is a spiritual poster montage using two or more images and type.

Date: 10/25/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 11Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe PhotoshopMasksFilters

Objectives:•Learn to manage Photoshop layers.•Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.•Usefilters.•Apply appropriate typography.

Process: TobeginthismontageIfirstselectedaquotethatIlikedbyPresidentUtchdorf. Then I searched the web for images that would enhance the thought. I chose a beach image, an image of stars at night, and a hand. I Used the beach image as my background since it was the image I was going to use most of. Then I added a second layer with the stars. I blended the two images with a mask placed on the stars. TomakethestarsclearerIusedthesharpenfilter.OnceIhadthosetwo images where I wanted them I added the hand and used the mask completelyblendingitwiththeothertwo.Ithenaddedthequoteandused 2 contrasting fonts to add visual interest and create a hierarchy with the words that I though were most important. I was able to pull a sea foam color from the beach image and use it on the script font. The very last thing that I did was use an adjustment layer to drop the saturation.OncethiswasdoneIreadjustedwherethetextwassittingand brought it lower away from the edge of the paper.

LetterheadDescription:I created an original logo and then used it to make this full-bleed company letterhead.

Date: 11/08/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 11Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe IllustratorAdobe InDesign

Objectives:•Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.•Create a new logo•Use the new logo to design a full-bleed letterhead. •Use appropriate typography

Process: To create this letterhead I started out by sketching some logo ideas for my portfolio website. I thought about how I used to write my initials as a kid, and it became the basis for my logo which I drew in illustrator using 2 capital letters in the Harlow Solid Italic font. I chose a modern complementary color scheme with pink and green to imply that we are cutting edge. I then placed that logo into an InDesign Document where I was able to create the rest of the letterhead. I addedapinklinetoextendacrossthetopofthepageandseparatethe contact info from my name. I used a corrugated metal picture as my background to give the piece an urban feel. I reduced the opacity of the metal image so that it would add to the gestalt and not become a focal point. The last thing I did was add a watermark on the lower right corner. I used the L and B from the logo to add repetition and create unity.

Using the transform tool I was able to make all the changes I needed for this card. I also changed the opacity on this project to let the background image show through a little more.

LogosDescription:Create a logo for a local company. Research the market, and then create three different styles of logos to represent them.

Process: To create these logos I searched google to see what other bakeries were using for their logos. Then I thought about the name of her company and what products she offers. I created one logo that was fun and whimsical, one that would work great for bakery labels, and one that was more of a logotype. I drew the cupcake shape using the pen tool, and the line tool. For the middle logo I used the type on a pathtooltogetthetexttowrapinsidetheovalshapeofthelabel.ForthelogotypeatthebottomIusedthetexttoolsinInDesigntoadjustthe kerning of the letters so that they were legible. .
