PIRATE FITNESS #124 Grades 1-3 (Fall 2014)

June 9-27 (Monday-Thursday) 9:00-noon

In this camp, students will learn about fitness and nutrition through reading, writing, cooking, and fitness activities and games. Students will apply basic computation and measurement skills to real-world situations in preparing healthy snacks. This camp will promote students’ involvement in athletics. Students will learn about the importance of fitness, understand a variety of organized sports and apply their knowledge through physical activity. This camp promotes health and wellness through academics. Fee: $60 Location: Remington Cafeteria Instructor: Megan Brock

SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE #125 Grades 1-3 (Fall 2014)

June 9-27 (Monday-Friday) 9:00-11:00 am

In week one of this camp, students will learn the basics of the Spanish language, including greetings and simple conversation, numbers, alphabet, calendar, telling time, colors and Spanish-speaking countries. In week two, students will use these new basic skills to go clothing or grocery shopping in a Spanish-speaking environment, as demonstrated in simple skits. Cultural comparisons of food and clothing will be part of this unit. In week three, students will develop a richer food vocabulary and other skills to be able to order in a Hispanic restaurant and use local transportation (buses, taxis, etc.). CO-ED SOCCER CAMP #126 Grades 1-3 (Fall 2014)

June 23-26 (Monday-Thursday) 11:00 am - noon

The Pattonville Elementary Soccer Camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 1st through 3rd grade and is run by Pattonville Head Coach Tom Iffrig and other PHS soccer coaches. Campers should bring shin guards, indoor & outdoor soccer shoes and water. Technical instruction for the week will include; passing, receiving, finishing, dribbling and defending and will be reinforced with small sided games and scrimmages! This is a great way to receive quality instruction from high school coaches, get a good workout and have a lot of fun playing soccer! MAD SCIENCE BOOT CAMP #116

Grades 1-6 Half-Day Camp – 9 am to noon

June 9-13 Enlist in Mad Science Boot Camp and brush up on your science skills! Hang on

for a week of non-stop science fun as we conduct tons of activities. Use Morse code to send secret messages to your friend. Get a taste for space as you launch a “bottle rocket”, test soil for “Martian” life and experiment with space suit design. Discover pollution solutions by baking nachos with solar power. Test what your toes have to do with tennis. Grow jaws and claws to feed your beastly stomach! K’NEXIONS #119 Grades 3-5 (Fall 2014)

June 16-20 (Monday-Friday) 9 am – noon

Students will explore science concepts of gravity, inertia, force, kinetic and potential energy while building K’Nex roller coasters, ferris wheels and other contraptions with movable parts. Fee: $30 Location: Remington Instructor: Tracey Robinson COMPUTER CAMP #120

June 23-27 (Monday-Friday) 12:30-3:30 pm

Students will learn the process of the scientific method by completing a multitude of science labs. Students will practice forming problem statements, hypotheses, variables, materials lists, procedures, observations, results and conclusions. Camp will include brainstorming ideas for actual science fair projects, and students will be prepared to create and implement successful science fair projects. Lab ideas include: programming a robotic Roamer, making a bottle rocket, using a pendulum, and so much more! Fee: $30 Location: Remington Instructor: Tracey Robinson

Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their mathematical skills while working in an environment that promotes teamwork, creativity and perseverance. Small-group instruction, real-world simulations and game shows will motivate students to accept challenges, resulting in self-confidence and individual success for students in the upcoming school year. Sixth graders interested in review and fifth graders who would benefit from a head-start are welcome!

DANCE FOR FUN CAMP - #114 Grades 4-6 (Fall 2014)

June 23-27 (Monday-Friday) 9:00-11:00 am

Each day, camp starts with stretching and warm up, plus we will read a book related to dance. Dances learned will include the Cha Cha Slide, Zumba and skills learned include eagle spread, kicks, turns, and arm movements. This camp will be for children who want to learn more about the fundamentals of dance while having fun. At the end of camp, students will perform a routine utilizing the new skills they have learned. This camp is for all levels of dance experience. Fee: $30 Location: Holman Middle School Instructor: Carrie Campbell

BASKETBALL CAMP #115 Grades 3-6 (Fall 2014)

June 9-13 (Monday-Friday) 9:00 – 11:00 am Camp starts with an overview of basketball history, terms, and rules so campers can get familiar with certain aspects of the game and be able to call their own fouls using specific basketball terms. Players will rotate through skill stations which emphasize and teach the fundamental skills. Campers will engage in lead-up games to practice new skills. Each lesson or activity will directly relate to the camp and we will progress together as a group. This camp will stress the importance of hard work, communication, and a positive attitude while maintaining a fun environment to develop good habits on the basketball court. TENNIS CAMP

Grades 1-9 (Fall 2014) July 21-25 (Monday-Friday) - #110

9:00 – 10:15 am Tennis players of all ability levels will benefit from this tennis camp. Campers will be evaluated on the first day and placed in groups to maximize their potential. We will cover the basics of the game including the basic strokes, footwork, physical fitness and conditioning, plus equipment. This camp will provide young players the opportunity to improve their tennis game, work hard, make new friends and have a lot of fun. This camp is taught by the Varsity Tennis Coach, Jeff Grass. SUMMER BAND CAMP June 9-27

Pattonville Students Entering Grades 6, 7, 8 (Fall 2014)

Three-week camp that includes one concert performance. For current 5th graders, this is a chance to start playing your band instrument before you start middle school. For current 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band students, this is a fun way to keep playing your instruments throughout the summer. Beginning Band - Camp #105 Meets from 8:00am – 9:30am. For current 5th graders who are planning to take band in 6th grade. Instruments for this class are the flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, and percussion. Percussionists will need both snare pad and bell kit.

Jazz Band – Camp #106 Meets from 9:30am – 11:00am. Jazz Band is only available to students who are entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade next year and play an instrument found in a standard jazz band (sax, trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass guitar, piano, vibes or drum set).

Advanced Band – Camp #107 Meets from 11:00am – 12:30pm. For current band students who are entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade next year only. Fee: one class - $60 two classes - $80 Location: Pattonville High School Instructors: Andrew Smith

STEM Camp #104 June 9-11

Pattonville Students Entering Grades 6, 7, 8 (Fall 2014) 8:00am-2:00 pm

If you want to learn more about careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), then STEM Camp is for you! This will be a hands-on, activity-based camp allowing students to explore robotics, computer programming, engineering, biomedical science and more. Students should bring a lunch to camp each day. AQUATICS ROBOTICS #103 Age: 12 and Up

July 28- August 1 (Monday-Friday) 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Make a splash this summer! Using devices such as soldering irons and rotary drills along with grit and perseverance, participants will learn basic robotics and build their own SeaPerch underwater rover/ROV. They will then learn the basics of SCUBA (optional) and participate in a specially designed human/robot hybrid “weightless” mission. Students attending this camp will need to complete a DiscoverSCUBA form. Students should bring a lunch to camp each day.

JUNIOR PIRATE FOOTBALL CAMPS Grades 5-8 (Fall 2014)

www.jrpiratesfootball.com Instruction in the Fundamentals of Football for Grades 5-8 The Jr. Pirate Sports Association will be offering summer football camps for Pattonville residents entering grades 5-8 in the fall of 2014. Campers may attend one or both camps. Camps are held at Remington Traditional School and run from 6-8 pm each day. Fee is $55 and covers one or both camps. Participants must provide own insurance

June 16-19 Football Camp - #108 This is a non-contact camp that will focus on the fundamentals of football and prepare students for participation in youth football and beyond. Campers should wear shorts, t-shirt and bring water. Cleats are suggested, but not required.

July 14-17 Football Camp - #109 This camp is for students interested in playing Jr. Pirate Football and will focus on teaching the fundamentals of football. Campers will become familiar with practice routine, plays, verbiage and the overall Jr. Pirate experience. This camp prepares students for playing youth football and provides a good gauge for what to expect. Campers should wear shorts, t-shirt and bring water. Cleats are suggested.

AGE 4-ADULT Develop confidence, physical expertise and an inner calmness that can overcome fears, while having fun and getting a superb workout! Camps will be run by PHS athletic coaches and players. Cost: $110 for the week. Multiple student families receive $25 off next sibling. (Example: First student for the week is $110…each additional sibling is $85 for the week.) Individual session cost is $45. If a student does not want to attend the entire day, you may sign up for individual sessions. Camper may report no more than 10 minutes prior to the session beginning and must be picked up at the conclusion of said session. Daycare is not provided.
