Pedigree Analysis 1. The following pedigree shows inheritance of dwarfism in on family. Dwarfism is an autosomal, dominant trait (D), while normal height is recessive (d). Determine the likely genotypes of the individuals in the pedigree. 2. The pedigree below depicts the inheritance of albinism, an autosomal, recessive trait. Determine which individuals in the family below must be carriers of the albinism allele.

Pedigree  Analysis

4. This  pedigree  indicates  the  occurrence  of  hitchhiker’s  thumb.      a. Based  on  the  evidence  provided  in  the  pedigree,  is  hitchhiker’s  thumb

dominant  or  recessive?      b. What  evidence  supports  your  answer  in  “a”  above?

5. On  a  separate  sheet  of  paper,  construct  a  pedigree  that  shows  recessive  inheritance  (i.e.  diabetes).

a. Include  at  least  3  generations  b. Include  at  least  15  individuals  c. Include  at  least  4  individuals  who  have  the  disorder  d. Indicate  all  carriers
