byThomasGlynnewhohadbeenappointedHighSheriff
ofCaernarfonshirein1626.Thehistoryofthehouseiswell
documentedpassingfromThomasGlynnetohisbrother
JohnGlynnewhowasLordChiefJusticeunderCromwell.
Thepropertywastenantedduringthe18thcenturyand
wasextensivelyre-modelledbyFrancisWynneattheend
ofthe19thcenturybeforepassingtotheNewborough
familywhosubsequentlysoldthepropertyafterthe
SecondWorldWar.
PlasNewyddisconstructedprincipallyofstoneunder
steeppitchedroofswithdistinctivetallchimneysand
mullionedwindows.TheManorHouseisflankedby
astoneCoachHouseandBelfrywhichwereadded
towardstheendofthe19thcenturytoformacourtyard
approachedbyasmallbridgeoverthemoat.
InternallyPlasNewyddretainsmanyoriginal
featureswithaccesstothefrontviastonesteps
toanarcheddoorwithgargoyleoveraccessinga
stoneentrancehallwithstrappedoakfrontdoor
leadingtoastaircaselobby.Fromthelobby
stepsleaddowntoanimpressivedininghallwith
inglenookfireplacehousingamulti-fuelstove.
Offthedininghallisakitchenwithbreakfastarea
containingfittedwallandbaseunits,electric
2-ovenAgaandcompanionelectriccookerwith
halogenhobs.Belowtheoakstaircasewhich
leadstothefirstfloorthereisbelievedtobea
