LHASA The first goal of the collec- tion is to update traditional Ti- betan clothes and to give them a more contem- porary look. Another method I attempted to help me cap- ture this tradi- tional mood was through using raw materials such as sheep skin and leath- er. My next tar- get is to ensure that the gar- ments maintain their simple shapes, and not to allow the new look to overcomplicate elements and colour. Picking the right shape is imperative to the achieving of my goal of updating a tra- ditional outfit, without losing the traditional mood. Tradition FALL 13/14 The beauty of fashion, particularly fast fashion, is the freedom of choice that it can give people When the role of media is exggerated that freedom become restricted, but on first principle, the right to choose what we wear and believe is singularly important in society. Equally the beauty of tradition and established belief systems is therespect they foster for the society in which we live and between men. Both of these forces have negative effects on men as well, but together they could rep- resent powerful tools for social progress.

The beauty of fashion, particularly fast fashion, is the freedom of choice that it can give people When the role of media is exggerated that freedom become restricted, but on first principle, the right to choose what we wear and believe is singularly important in society. Equally the beauty of tradition and established belief systems is therespect they foster for the society in which we live and between men. Both of these forces have negative effects on men as well, but together they could rep-resent powerful tools for social progress.

These colours reflect the brighter and happier aspects of our daily live. Using the ancient Tibetan approach to coul with the traditional monk’s silhouette results in very contemporary look.

Collection of colours are very rich and strong and red plays a large part in my col-lection to demonstrate independent powerful and feminie women. In eastern art, colour has very symbolic back-ground in society. Each colou presents some-thing, for instance, red symbolizes good fortune and joy, black presents power and yellow for earth is beauty.

TurkhThe theme of my collection for the Jan 2011 project for womenswear was Upcycling. It is the process of turning useless or waste mate-rials into new material or better quality prod-ucts. I have chosen to reuse wool, polyester net and human hair for this purpose.

Page 14: Portfolio,. SARASHKA 2006&2014

• Mongolian wool

• Polyester net

• Silk net

Page 15: Portfolio,. SARASHKA 2006&2014

The inspiration for the collec-tion comes from my upbringing in Mongolia. I have chosen to use Mongolian wool and felted the wool on both Polyester net and Silk net in order to create a new material. I feel that both human hair and wool are the ul-timate environmentally friendly and renewable resources that we should use more of. The ma-terials are completely natural and hence are free from chemi-cal treatments and synthetic treatments.

The design itself is inspired by traditional Mongolian silhou-ettes. These are typified by big dramatic head pieces and tra-ditional royal red cheek marks. The palette is earthy and natu-ral.

tumes and traditions. I have named my collec-

Sensory Depravation, 2013 by Sarashka This project is about Avant Garde design that are inspired by architecture. Urban architecture is about the efficient use of space, since space is limited and at a premium, which is a stark contrast to my native Mongolia where space is in abundance. In an urban environment, there are many distractions from noise both visual and aural. The aim of the design is to insulate from all these noise and give space to the person. It is achieved by giving clean

lines and materials with industrial quality like vinyl and carpet.
