Writing: a short text in the past.

Short Story: “The Christmas Present” by O. Henry.

UNIT 2 Make a difference

Language focus: past simple: negative and question forms. Indefinite pronouns: everybody,

nobody, everything, nothing.

Vocabulary: compound nouns.

Speaking: giving information about your past.

Writing: writing a biography.

Short story: “Soapy’s Choice” by O. Henry.

UNIT 3 Following fashion

Language focus: present continuous: affirmative, negative and questions. Present continuous

and simple present.

Vocabulary: clothes and shopping.

Speaking: describing a picture.

Writing: writing a description of a person focusing on what he/she is wearing.
