Therefore, the cars wash shops are increasing quickly, and people are happy to send their cars there. In Taiwan, hand-washing cars is more popular, because the customers think using hands to wash is softer. It does not damage the pain of the cars, and it is a luxury way to take care their cars.

Chapter 2: Industry Profile

Nature of industry

In last 10 years, the population of cars has increased many folds. In today’s context most cars are driven by the owners themselves and would any day prefer to have a quick car wash, rather than leaving the car the whole day at service station. The Car Wash industry has grown from as simple as hand wash to sophisticated high impact pressure jet wash technology. Owning and running a car wash these days, is not just a mere business but it’s one of the most lucrative and respected business.

The car wash business is big business. With millions a year spent at the nations thousands of car washes owning a car wash business can be a lucrative endeavor and a sound investment. With relatively small overhead costs and a generally limited employee base it can appear, on the surface, that this business is a simple one and headache free.

The reality is, like any other business, the car wash business has its fair share of headaches, troubles and problems. To the casual observer it may appear to be something of a hands off business and yet nothing could be further from the truth. They may feel that all that really needs to be done is build a couple of self service bays, stick a sign on the side of the building and the money will simply pour in. Even those looking at more complicated car wash systems, such as a full service car wash or a Tunnel system, could believe that with a few employees to run the vacuums and make sure customers drive into the automatic car wash from the right end the business would run itself.

History

1940’s

The dawn of the car wash era has begun.By the mid-1940s, there were approximately 32 drive-through car washes nationwide. In 1946, a semiautomatic car wash system was developed with a conveyor belt that hooked to the bumper of automobiles. It had an overhead water sprinkler with three sets of manually operated brushes and a 50 HP air blower to help dry the car. All of these elements would become an important part of the car wash industry in the future.

1950’s

In 1955, while on vacation in Mexico, Dan Hanna, Sr., stayed in a motel located across the street from a car wash. The mechanically-minded Hanna became very interested. He studied the car wash’s operation and visited extensively with the owner/operator. He returned to his home town of Portland, Oregon, and with money his mother obtained by mortgaging their home, Hanna opened his first Rub-A-Dub car wash in Milwaukie, Oregon. This led to the creation of Hanna Enterprises. Two years later, he opened his second wash and ultimately had 31 successful Rub-A-Dub car washes operating in the Portland area. As his business grew, Hanna recognized the need for faster and more efficient car wash equipment … so he invented it.

In 1959, Hanna tinkered with and tested his wash rack until he had a working model of the first mechanized car washing system. Word spread about Hanna’s machine, and he began to put them in other people’s car washes.

1960’s

By the mid-1960s, Hanna Enterprises had clearly established itself as the premier innovator and manufacturer of car wash equipment. Hanna made and patented several inventions that revolutionized the car wash industry, including Wraparound Brush, Roller-On-Demand Conveyor, Soft Cloth Friction Wash, Triple Approach to Tire Washing, and Recirculating Water System. As a result, Hanna Enterprises became the world’s largest conveyorized vehicle wash equipment manufacturer.

Hanna launched an aggressive marketing campaign in 1966 to expand its international business and installed its first international car wash in Japan in 1967.

In 1968, Hanna Enterprises became Hanna Industries and began an extensive acquisition effort acquiring Lark, Reuter Sons Manufacturing and Flaming Equipment Company. In addition, Hanna expanded its distribution capabilities in a contract with Country Club Carwash, Inc.

11

1970’s

As with many industries, the 1970s were difficult times for the car washing business. The U.S. recession had a devastating affect on the vehicle wash industry as the price of gasoline increased rapidly. Shrinking profits for car wash operators slowed production and development of the industry.

Hanna Industries made two important inventions in 1975 — the automatic wheel cleaner and a polish ‘n wax application. These innovations made it possible for many car wash operations with Hanna equipment to stay in business because they had a “competitive edge” with services their competitors did not have.

1980’s

By the early 1980s, the U.S. economy had rebounded with strong sustained growth in all sectors. The car wash industry recovered from the recession and car wash development was at an all time high. The automobile industry was having record sales, and in 1985 there were reportedly 162 million cars in the U.S.

As the numbers of cars and car washes grew exponentially in the 1980s, Hanna Industries again brought innovations to the market. Recognizing the need for consistent car wash quality, Hanna began franchising. In 1981, Entrepreneur’s magazine named Hanna the #2 franchiser in the world (just behind McDonald’s) and in 1982 named Hanna #1. Hanna’s success continued throughout the 1980s with the creation of more vehicle wash and marketing innovations.

By 1988, Hanna Industries was servicing more than 18,000 vehicle washes in 56 countries. Annual sales reached in excess of $30 million. In 1989, Hanna ranked #1 worldwide for installed conveyorized car washes.

Page 12: Project Feasibility Study And Evaluation

12

1990’s

In 1993, a Texas venture capital group brought about the merger of two industry giants — Hanna Industries and Sherman Carwash Company. The merged companies became Hanna-Sherman International, Inc. and had a large focus on international markets. Hanna first expanded in the Far East (Korea and Thailand) and emerging markets (including China, Russia and Eastern Europe). Hanna also increased activity in Germany, Ireland, Latin America and Southeast Asia. International growth flourished throughout the 1990s, making Hanna the most global car wash manufacturer in the industry.

2000’s

In 2001, a prominent group of Northwest investors purchased the assets of Hanna-Sherman International, Inc. and formed today’s Hanna Car Wash Systems International, LLC. Shareholders of the new company include The Aspen Group (based in Portland, Oregon) and Roy P. Disney, owner of The Apogee Company (based in Burbank, California). The Aspen Group is an investment group formed in 1989 that has participated in over 200 diverse projects including Warner Bros. Channel 32 in Salem, Oregon, the Westin Hotel in downtown Portland, and the Gregory Lofts in Portland’s Pearl District. The Apogee Group is a private investment organization owned by Roy P. Disney.

The financial strength of the shareholders permit Hanna to expand its business by placing added emphasis on Research & Development and focusing on continued innovation in the fine Hanna product line.

Today, Hanna Car Wash Systems International has more patents and trademarks than any other conveyorized system manufacturer. With over 30,000 installations in 90 countries and more than 650 million vehicles on the road worldwide, the future for Hanna and its customers is unlimited.

Chapter 3: Market Feasibility Study

Market analysis

Our target market is the most densely populated area in the city and is comprised of a diverse mixture of ethnic and economic groups. This diverse economic and ethnic make-up supports our view that there is a strong demand in our market area for a complete car wash facility that possesses both full-service and self-service facilities. Industry surveys reveal that young people between the ages of 18-25 (11% of the target market), blue collar workers of all ages, and those with little disposable income will patronize a self-service facility. Individuals over 25 (72% of the target market), white collar workers, and those with disposal incomes will patronize full-service facilities.my shop

extremely fortunate my service is not limited to a specific segment or group of the market.

SWOT analysis

Competition Analysis

1. Competitor Analysis

Nowadays have a lot of competitors of car wash shop in Chaing rai ex. Wash and spa, pang mai, Mister clean. Their’s open in down town Chaing rai.

2. Customer Analysis

The aim of marketing is to understand consumer needs, desires and motivations. and satistify the quality of Carcare..Koon.and the average of customer age about 25-55 years

3. Company Analysis

Nationally, the car wash industry experienced a downturn in sales volume and an upturn in gross profit per car washed in 1990 and 1991. Specifically, between 1990 and 1991, sales volume declined 3.1 percent and gross profit per car increased by 7.9 percent. Thus, on the average, car washes experienced a small increase in gross profit. Industry experts blame the sluggish economy and unusual national weather patterns for the decrease in sales volume and predict volume will rebound to pre-1990 levels as the economy improves.

Page 18: Project Feasibility Study And Evaluation

Market Segmentation

Carcare..Koon Segments its customers by type of car ownership. I believe that the type of car that a person owns says volumes about their driving, and, therefore their car washing and detailing requirements.

Target Market

Our target market area i have no direct competition. There are cases where car wash owners have built their business in an area which put them into direct competition with another car wash operation. Business logic dictates that unnecessary competition benefits neither operation.focus in this service-dependent business is to provide the highest quality service, at the fairest price, to the largest percentage of the target market population as possible. This will foster a repeat customer base.

Production/Services Process

Car washing (exterior)

1. Step 1

Gather your materials and put them within easy reach of your car. Make sure the water hose reaches around the entire car.

2. Step 2

Add soap to the bucket and fill it with water. Rinse the entire car with water, but don't spray the car with a strong stream. Hold the hose toward the top of the car and let the water run down the surface.

3. Step 3

Dip the sponge into the soapy water and wash one panel at a time. Rinse each panel after washing to prevent soap from drying on the car. Start at the top of the car and work down, rinsing the sponge frequently. Use a brush on tires and wheels.

4. Step 4

Rinse the entire car again after washing it. Keeping the car wet until you are done helps keep the soap from forming a film on the car.

5. Step 5

Dry the car with a clean towel or chamois. Extra steps, like adding tire shine or a wax protectant.

Page 26: Project Feasibility Study And Evaluation

26

Washing advance (Interior&Detail)

1. Step 1

Set up in a location that has given permission to hold the hand car wash and use their water supply. Use signage to advertise the car wash. This will attract customers. Advertise the price. A good car wash for an affordable price is what car owners are looking for when they want their car washed.

2. Step 2

Select four people to wash the cars. There should be one person in the back, one in the front and one on each side of the car. These people will fill their buckets with car washing soap, wash the car with a sponge and soapy water.

3. Step 3

Select one person to operate the water hose. This person will get the car wet for the washers and then rinse the car off after it has been soaped. This person will set the pace for how many cars can be washed in an hour.

4. Step 4

Select the last four people for drying the car. There will be one in the back, one in the front and one on each side of the car. These people will use the car shams to dry the car. The windows will need to be dried and clean with window cleaner if they were not clean enough for the car washing soap. Use paper towel to clean the windows.

5. Step 5

Continue steps 2 through 4 for each car. You should be able to get two cars washed in one hour with this type of conveyor system.

6. Step 6

Adding tire shine and wax protectant.

Coffee Process

1. BUYING AND STORING COFFEE:

Buy best quality coffee beans or ground coffee from small specialist retailers rather than supermarkets.  If you have a coffee grinder buy your coffee as beans and grind them yourself, that way you can always be certain of fresh product. If you don't have a grinder a vacuum packed blend is the perfect choice, vacuum packing seals in the wonderful aromas and flavours of freshly ground coffee.

Here are a few tip's on the best way to keep your beans and ground coffee fresh for as long as possible:

Although 'Air' is indispensable to us humans, it's ground coffee's "public enemy no 1" as it deteriorates rapidly once exposed to air. So only grind beans or open a vacuum pack when you are ready to use it, transfer leftover coffee to an airtight container (preferably glass or crockery)  immediately.

Store in a cool dark place, preferably not in the fridge.  Do not store near strongly aromatic foods as both ground coffee and coffee beans are

easily tainted.  Consume stored coffee within within days to enjoy it at it's very best or 2 weeks at

most if you must.

Page 31: Project Feasibility Study And Evaluation

31

If you wish to store ground coffee or beans for longer periods, freezing in an air tight container protects both the flavour and aroma for up to 3 months for ground coffee & 6 months or so for beans. Tip: frozen ground coffee can be used straight from the freezer.

2. COFFEE MAKERS:

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes coffee makers, however for simplicity of use and the quality of the coffee it produces, a good Cafetiere is difficult to beat. Our blend is ideal for cafetieres and many other methods.

3. WATER FOR COFFEE

Coffee connoisseurs recommend using refrigerated bottled spring water for coffee making, but if you are using water from the tap or faucet, run the water for a few minutes until it runs cold, the colder the water the more Oxygen it contains and the more Oxygen in the water the better the Coffee (or Tea). DO NOT use tap or faucet water with an odor or pronounced taste, some  (in parts of London, New York and other cities for instance) are highly chlorinated with a very distinct taste and odor. If you are unfortunate enough to live in one of these areas it's well worth doing as the connoisseurs do and using a good bottled still spring water (not mineral or carbonated water), you will be amazed at the difference.

4. COFFEE TO WATER RATIO

I recommend 1 level tablespoon of ground coffee per cup capacity of the coffee maker. This measure will give a strongish brew, for even stronger coffee use rounded or heaped tablespoon measures, for weaker coffee use dessert spoon measures or reduce the measure by 1 cup at a time i.e. 4 tablespoons in a 5 cup capacity coffee maker. Experiment to learn your preference but note that ratios will vary for different coffees and remember, although not ideal, you can always add more fresh boiled water if it's too strong, but you can't make a weak brew stronger.

Note: A 1-cup measure is generally taken to mean 5 fluid ounces (150ml), if your not sure of your coffee makers capacity, use a measuring jug to measure water into it to about 1" (2 cm) below the lip.

5. BREWING YOUR COFFEE

This method is for a Cafetiere but will suite other types of coffee maker.

Fill the kettle with fresh drawn water and put it on to heat, while it heats up warm the Cafetiere, our Cafetiere has a glass container so I do this by putting the container (without the metal bits) in the microwave for a minute or two, for metal containers or if you don't have a micro-wave you can use a warm oven or hot water but remember to dry the container before the next step.

Measure the coffee into the container using the above formula in para 4. When the kettle boils remove it from the heat and leave it for about 15 seconds or so,

unlike tea, for best results coffee should be brewed with water that's just off the boil. Fill the Cafetiere to within about 1" (2cm) of the top with the boiled water. Stir and let it brew.

When the coffee grounds start to settle, replace the plunger and push it down smoothly until fully depressed. If you feel resistance don't try to force it just wait a few seconds and the pressure will dissipate.

If you've done it correctly the coffee is now brewed to perfection with a lovely thick, creamy aromatic ' espresso like' froth on the surface, it smells wonderful and is now ready to pour.

TIP: Did you know that you can also use a Cafetiere for making excellent loose leaf tea?

6. SERVING YOUR GOURMET COFFEE

Unlike commercial coffee which is deliberately served scalding hot to mask the bitterness of low grade blends, the subtle flavours of good coffee improve and mellow as it cools. I recommend Using a tea towel or tea cozy to keep coffee warm and ensure it cools gently. If the coffee is too cold, try warming your cup (in the micro-wave or hot water?) not the coffee. It's far better to have the coffee go cold and gently reheat it than use a hotplate. If you must use a hot plate, leave the coffee on it for no longer than 15 minutes or so, or it will start to burn and turn bitter.

7. FLAVOURING COFFEE

The flavoring of coffee is an ancient tradition dating back to nomadic Arab tribesmen who added a pinch of ground Green Cardamom (not Brown Cardamom) or other spice to coffee before brewing. You can experiment with spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice etc (the fresher the spices the better) and flavourings like vanilla (pods not flavouring drops) or Liqueurs & Spirits like Amaretto etc. But remember, the idea is to add just enough to compliment the flavour of the coffee, not destroy it.

8. FINALLY

Clean your Cafetiere or other coffee maker thoroughly in fresh hot water after every use, old coffee residues or highly perfumed washing up liquid can taint the flavour. The care you take will only increase the ultimate pleasure of your coffee drinking experience.

Chapter 7Conclusion

Page 51: Project Feasibility Study And Evaluation

Conclusion

An extremely important feature of my business is its location. Without the proper location, the chances of succeeding are drastically reduced, although not impossible. It is interesting to note that, for the last five years, a regional car wash corporation with eight locations in the tri-state area has actively pursued the property owner to sell so they could establish a car wash on it. For personal reasons, the land owner refused to sell. Such a successful company would not have so vigorously pursued the site if they did not feel the land had enormous potential. We share their enthusiasm.

My operation will incorporate the newest and most technologically advanced wash equipment in the industry. This will enable us to provide our customers with the best possible service at the best possible price. It will also allow us to ensure that the environmental concerns of the community are respected and acted upon. Additionally, we believe the strongest point in my business is our management team. Both owners possess vast knowledge, gained from operational, budgetary, and personnel experience, from which to direct the business and provide for outstanding customer service.
