Extraordinary General Meeting 16/12/2020 8pm Block CoffeeShop All parents are invited to attend a Special General Meeting at the Block coffee shop, Victoria Park (arrive at 7.45pm to start at 8pm). We will be electing a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. A message from the School Governors Many thanks to the staff of the School. Your tireless dedication and constant hard work for the children of Treganna isimmesurable.

We would also like to wish the pupils, parents and carers of the School a Merry Christmas. Thank you for your support during the year. We have worked diligently during the term to try to improve travel safety standards around the School and there have been a number of meetings between the Governors' Traffic Working Group and Council staff. The wait for decisions and safety improvements feels long but a number of developments have been agreed by the Traffic Working Group and Council staff. These include:

• Improvements on Road leading to the School

• Ideas for better places to park when the drive to school is unavoidable.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the traffic questionnaire - your comments were used when discussing developments with Council staff. More information will follow in the new term.

In the meantime, we urge you, especially drivers, to take care, cut your speed and drive with caution. The horrific consequences of a road traffic accident when the safety of so many children is at stake does not bear thinking of.

Dreaming of a green Christmas? Here’s our advice to buying wrapping paper

There’s just 13 days left until Christmas, have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

If you’re looking to get a head start on the perfect Christmas gift, make sure your wrapping paper doesn’t let you down. Check that it can be recycled before you buy to ensure guilt-free wrapping.

Here’s our eco-friendly guide to buying gift wrap this year:

1. Avoid buying metallic, foil or glitter paper as it can’t be recycled.

2. Use recycled brown paper (available from your local Post Office or craft shop) and stamper sets to jazz it up and create your own unique Christmas designs.

3. Instead of buying metallic bows and ribbon, make bows from newspaper, just search tutorials on YouTube to help you perfect the look.

4. Use foliage, holly and leaves to decorate presents, check that the items you’re using can be placed in with your garden waste recycling once the present has been unwrapped.

5. Don’t forget your Christmas cards - Send plain cards without ribbons, embellishments or glitter as these items can’t be recycled or if possible, make sure the recipient can remove them before they pop them in their green bags for collection. Alternatively, send an e-card for your Christmas wishes.

Make these small changes now to help reduce your Christmas carbon footprint later.

If in doubt, please check our Christmas Recycling Advice on our website for further advice on what items can be recycled.
