Taylex Tanks contain more concrete that most other brands

and are therefore heavier and stronger.

Our tanks are constructed from 40 mpa strength concrete. TheWalls, Lids and Bases are reinforced with F72 and F41 steelmesh sheets.

The tank walls taper inwards from the top to the bottom so that

there is more strength in the bottom of the walls where it’sneeded. The base of the tank is also thicker to withstand thepressures of ground movement and the weight of water.

Standard lids are 100mm thick and light trafficable lids are

150mm thick. Both lids are reinforced with steel reinforcedmesh sheets.

All tanks have engineer’s drawings

available on request.

Installation Tips

• Site needs to be level and on stable, compactedground that is capable of bearing the weight of your

new tank.

• Make sure the ground where your tank is to be

located is free of sharp objects and stones.

• Make sure there is 75-100mm thickness of level

crusher dust or sand under your tank. Alternatively a

concrete pad can be used. To ensure yourguarantee, you should box in your crusher

dust/sand to ensure it stays consolidated and the

overflow must be piped away.

• If your tank is being located on a stand, make sure

the stand can hold the capacity of the tank when

full of water, remembering 1 litre of water equals 1

kilo, plus the weight of your tank. Hardwood decking

can be used with gaps no greater than 25mm.

• All pipework must be supported and plumbed with

a flexible connector to avoid excessive strain on

fittings.

Our tanks are all heavier and stronger

than most vessels on the market. We feelconfident with quality and strength of ourproducts and so offer excellent warrantyarrangements for your peace of mind.




Risers & LidsAll Trafficable lids are supplied with a 150mm concrete lid and

a 150mm tall manhole access point. Extra 150mm Risers are

available if a tank is to be buried more than 150mm deep (see

underground installation diagram to left).

Cast Iron Manhole CoversA steel lid or manhole cover (Gatic) is designed to be placed

above the tank riser in a concrete slab or driveway. Using this

product you can then have access to a tank placed under a

driveway, paving or concrete slab.

Preventing Tank Floatation

As tanks empty they may float if the groundwater level rises.Please make sure your tanks are filled with water to prevent

the tank from floating. Only after full installation is complete i.e

stormwater drains and overflows are connected properly to the

tank, should the tank be allowed to empty.

Concrete Anti-Floatation CollarsIf your property has a high water table, it may be necessary to

install multiples of shorter tanks so that your tank can be

installed on top of the watertable and not in it. If a tank needs to

be placed in a high water table area we may need to install a

concrete collar that sits at the base of the tank to prevent

flotation. Your Taylex consultant will advise you if this is

necessary.

Engineered Light Trafficable Lids

Installation of 2 part tanks (31500Lt)In-ground installations are best for these tanks. Soil levels

should be the same on all sides of the tanks to prevent leaking

or movement of the tank. Also where possible, the middle join

should be placed underground.

Underground:This installation allows a tank

to be buried underground with

only an inspection hole visible

at ground level. It is only

suitable for tanks with

Light-Trafficable Lids (2 tonne

point load limited - not trucks).

A maximum overburden (soil)

of 300mm is safe for this tank

installation. If you require to

build or place a driveway over

these tanks, please make sure

that your slab is engineered

and constructed to give extra

strength to assist your 2 tonne

point load limit on the lid

design. You will require a cast

iron Access Cover for this type

of installation.

In-ground:This installation allows a tank

to be placed in the ground with

approximately 300mm –

500mm or more of the top of

the tank above the ground

level. It is suitable for tanks with

a Light-Trafficable Lid or a

more cost effective Non-

Trafficable Lid.

Above-ground:This installation allows a tank

to be placed on a min 100mm

boxed or sunken pad of

5-7mm gravel . It is suitable for

tanks with both Non-Trafficable

and Light-Trafficable lids.

Ensure that ground water andoverflow pipes cannot wash

away the Base and ground

area around tank.
