Tarun Tahiliani is one of the most celebrated fashion

designers of India. He acquired his early education from the

Doon School and then went abroad to pursue degree inBusiness Management from the Wharton Business School,

University of Pennsylvania and another degree from The

Fashion Institute of Technology.

Tarun Tahiliani is inspired by Indian textiles, embroidery and

techniques and widely uses it in his creations. He has used

chikan embroidery of Lucknow in various forms in his attiresand often embellishes it with beads and semi precious

stones. He particularly emphasizes on block printing,

bandhini styles, attractive color combinations in his

creations.

Tarun Tahiliani has designed for a number of celebrities like

Simi Garewal and Ramola Bachchan. He was widelyacclaimed for his Jemima Khan's wedding collection.

Tarun Tahiliani has received a number of awards like

Designer of the Year Award(2002),Best Womenswear

Couture Designer Award(2004),Women's Wear Designer of

the Year(2007) and many more.

He is simply fascinated by Chikanembroidery of Lucknow and is often

incorporated in his designs with zardozi.

He also makes use of beads and semi

precious stones to embellish the

ensemble. He strongly believes that

fashion is all about your comfort levelwith a particular attire.

Exposition 2010.he Tarun Tahiliani Bridal Couture Exposition is

the first-of-its-kind bridal couture event in India

is set to take place at DLF Emporio.

The Tarun Tahiliani Bridal Exposition is the

annual event that introduces important bridal

trends for the season.

The Tarun Tahiliani Bridal Couture Exposition

will be a fascinating and inspiring journey

featuring exceptional jewels and luxury objects

with a display that illustrates the progression

of design styles, techniques and motifs. The

embroideries are very intricate including

swarovski crystals, rhinestones, zari work.Especially for this celebration Forevermark has

designed jewels keeping in mind he grandeur

and magnificence of this exposition.

Indian Fashion Week 2010

Major suface ornamentation techniques used were zardozi, applique, zari work,

swarovski crystals embellished the fabric, velvet appliqued on borders, sequins was also

used commonly. Also lot of machine embroidery and cutwork was common too and

golden tassles and fringes were seen

Lakme Fashion Week 2008Denim hot pants with gold coins, pencil

skirts with apsara chains, wrinkled skinnyapsarette jeans, a denim jacket lavished

with thousands of jet Swarovski stones, a

coated overlap denim jacket, a denim blue

mini shirt dress - were all great formal wear

denim ideas all this made the show talk of

the town. He collaborated with Levisdenimwear.

Speaking about his collection Tahiliani said

that he has given some interesting denim

wear options for the stylish women of

today.Indian women to start with all over the world love to wear colour

and jewels while going out for night out, club or dinner. You can

have all these options not just another boring pair of jeans. We

have created different kinds of versions to go with our skin and

added to serious glamour. That was the whole collection about,

said Tahiliani.

Here were jeans for the modern fashionistas who want to make one of the most

stunning style statements ever. Swarovski crystals, sequins, silver chains for denim

jeans were dreamt up by Tarun and were truly a beauteous sight to behold.

From the opening coated apsarette jeans teamed with a jewelled chain bra, the

show was set for some high voltage fashion action. Denim hot pants with gold

coins, pencil skirts with apsara chains, wrinkled skinny apsarette jeans, a denim

jacket lavished with thousands of jet Swarovski stones, a coated overlap denim

jacket, a denim blue mini shirt dress - were all great formal wear denim ideas.

Beaded fringes dangled from pockets and jeans edges. Jewelled turn-ups gave

denim jeans a new look while Bermuda shorts and denims with zardozi patch

pockets proved that the indigo denim jeans of the past was in for a dramatic

glamorous look.

The final section featured ecru destructed jewelled hot pants, indigo haremjewelled jeans and the ecru destructed denim pair, besides the skinny jewelled

dungarees, which all gave a new fashion direction.

The finale was the denim bride in bleached white jeans covered with jewelled

chains and crystals worn by the new darling of the Bollywood screen, Sonam

Kapoor.

Colours, culture, drapes and showmanship - Tarun Tahiliani's show was a complete

package. The show started with Indian drapes followed by oriental cuts and the back

to Indian traditional of course with a touch of west. The silhouettes in the collection

were voluminous, magical and almost danced with the music while the models

sashayed down the ramp to perfectly exhibit the garments.
