Only one PCMCIA interface is required, which can bemounted in either the upper or lower position--The second assemblyposition can be fitted with a cover. The interface is designed to hold theflash card, which is the permanent storage of the system for firmware,application programs, and machine and application data. ln its functionthe flash card is equivalent to the disc of the PC, except that it has norotating parts.The flash card is always inserted in position A (position B remainsunused).
