When your vehicle is equippedwith an air bag, do not obstruct
with installed or portablewireless equipment. It cancause the air bag to fail orcause serious injury due toimproper performance.
If you are listening to musicwhile on the go, pleasemake sure the volume is at areasonable level so you areaware of your surroundings.This is particularly importantwhen near roads.
Avoid damage to yourhearing
Damage to your hearing canoccur if you are exposed to loudsound for long periods of time.We therefore recommend that
you do not turn the handset onor off while close to your ear.We also recommend that musicand call volumes are set toreasonable levels.
NOTE! Excessive soundpressure from earphones can
cause hearing loss.
Glass parts
Some parts of your mobiledevice are made of glass. Thisglass could break if your mobiledevice is dropped on a hardsurface or receives a substantialimpact. If the glass breaks, donot touch or attempt to remove.Stop using your mobile deviceuntil an authorised service

Keep the phone in a safe

Emergency calls
Emergency calls may not be
available in all mobile networks.Therefore, you should neverdepend solely on the phone foremergency calls. Check withyour local service provider.
Battery information and
careYou do not need to completely
discharge the battery beforerecharging. Unlike other batterysystems, there is no memoryeffect that could compromise
the batterys performance. Use only LG batteries and
chargers. LG chargers aredesigned to maximise batterylife.
Do not disassemble or short-
circuit the battery pack.Keep the metal contacts of the
battery pack clean.

Replace the battery when itno longer provides acceptable
performance. The battery packmay be recharged hundreds oftimes until it needs replacing.
Recharge the battery if it hasnot been used for a long timeto maximise usability.
Do not expose the batterycharger to direct sunlight oruse it in high humidity, such asin the bathroom.
Do not leave the batteryin hot or cold places, thismay deteriorate batteryperformance.
There is risk of explosion ifthe battery is replaced with anincorrect type.
Dispose of used batteriesaccording to themanufacturers instructions.Please recycle when possible.Do not dispose of in householdwaste.
If you must replace thebattery, take it to the nearest
authorised LG Electronicsservice point or dealer forassistance.
Always unplug the chargerfrom the wall socket afterthe phone is fully chargedto save unnecessary powerconsumption by the charger.
Actual battery life depends onnetwork configuration, productsettings, usage patterns,battery, and environmentalconditions.

Important noticePlease check to see if anyproblems you have encountered
with your phone are describedin this section, before taking thephone in for service or calling aservice representative.
1. Phone memory
When available space on your
phone memory is less than 10%,your phone can not receivea new message. You need tocheck your phone memoryand delete some data such asapplications or messages to
make more memory available.To manage the application
1. On the home screen, touchApplications tab and selectSettings > Applications >Manage applications.
2. When all applications appear,scroll and select the applicationyou want to uninstall.
3. Tap Uninstall and touch OKto uninstall application youdesired.
2. Optimising yourbattery's life
You can extend your battery'slife between charges by turningoff features that you don'tneed to run constantly in thebackground. You can alsomonitor how applications andsystem resources consumebattery power.
To extend the life of yourbattery
- Turn off radio communicationsthat you aren't using. If you
aren't using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, orGPS, turn them off.
- Turn down screen brightnessand set a shorter screentimeout.
- Turn off automatic syncing for
Google Mail, calendar, contacts,and other applications.
- Some applications youvedownloaded may cause yourbatterys life to be reduced.

Important noticeTo check the battery chargelevel
1. On the home screen, touchApplications tab and selectSettings >About phone >Status.
2. The battery status (charging,discharging) and level (as a
percentage of fully charged)are displayed at the top of thescreen.
To monitor and control whatuses the battery
1. On the home screen, touch
Applications tab and selectSettings > About phone >Battery use.
2. The top of the screen displaysbattery usage time. Either howlong since last connected to apower source or, if connectedto a power source, how longyou were last running onbattery power. The body of thescreen lists applications orservices using battery powerfrom greatest amount to least.
3. Installing an opensource OS
If you install an open sourceOS on your phone, and do notuse the OS provided by themanufacturer, this may causeyour phone to malfunction.
WARNING: If you install anduse an OS other than the oneprovided by the manufacturer,your phone is no longercovered by the warranty.
WARNING: To protect your
phone and personal data,download applications onlyfrom trusted sources, suchas Android Market. If someapplications are not properlyinstalled on your phone, yourphone may not work normallyor a serious error can beoccurred. You will need touninstall those applicationsand all of its data and settingsfrom the phone.

4. Using unlock pattern
Set unlock pattern to secure your
phone. Opens a set of screensthat guide you through drawing ascreen unlock pattern.
WARNINGPrecautions to take whenusing the Pattern LockIt is very important that youremember the unlock patternyou set. You will not be ableto access your phone if youuse an incorrect pattern 5times. After attempting the
unlock pattern 5 times, youcan touch the Forget PatternOption and use your Googleaccount information to unlockyour phone.
If you do not have Google
account, you don't create theGoogle account on the phone, oryou forget it, you can use HardReset.
5. Using safe mode andhard reset
Using safe mode* To recover from malfunction
state of your phone
1. Turn off your phone andreboot. While your phone ispowering back on, press and
hold the Home key duringAndroid Logo is displayed.Your phone will boot all theway to the main screen anddisplay "safe mode" in lowerleft corner.
2. Select Settings>Applications>Manageapplications, and choose theapplication then select anUninstall icon.
3.After uninstalling the
application, turn off andreboot your phone.
* Using Hard Reset (FactoryReset)If it does not restore to theoriginal condition, use HardReset to initialise your phone.

When your phone turns on andthe lock screen displays, press
and hold theVolume
up +Home + Search keys all at thesame time (for five seconds).When the pop up screen isshown, choose OK to resetyour phone.Please note, after you perform
Hard Reset, all your data andapplications on your phonewill be erased and cannot bereversed.
WARNING:
If you perform Hard Reset,all user applications anduser data will be deleted.Please remember to backup any important data beforeperforming Hard Reset.
6. Connecting to Wi-Finetworks
To use Wi-Fi on your phone,you access a wireless accesspoint, or hotspot. Some accesspoints are open and you cansimply connect to them. Othersare hidden or implement othersecurity features, so you mustconfigure your phone so it canconnect to them.
Turn off Wi-Fi when you're notusing it, to extend the life of yourbattery.
To turn Wi-Fi on and connect toa Wi-Fi network
1. On the home screen, touchApplications tab and selectSettings > Wireless &networks > Wi-Fi settings.
2.Touch
Wi-Fito turn it on andbegin scan for available Wi-Fi
networks.
- List of available Wi-Finetworks is displayed.Secured networks areindicated by a lock icon.

3. Touch a network to connectto it.
- If the network is open, youare prompted to confirmthat you want to connectto that network by touchingConnect.
- If the network is secured,
you're prompted to entera password or othercredentials. (Ask yournetwork administrator fordetails.)
4. The status bar displays iconsthat indicate Wi-Fi status.
7. Using a microSD card
Pictures, along with music andvideo files, can only be saved toexternal memory.
Before using the built-in camera,
you need to insert a microSDmemory card to your phone first.
Without inserting a memorycard, you will not be able tosave pictures and video you hadtaken.
NOTE: Applications can only besaved to the phone's internal
memory.WARNING:
Do not insert or remove thememory card when the phoneis on. Otherwise, it may damagethe memory card as well as
your phone, and the datastored on the memory cardmay be corrupted. To removethe memory card safely, pleaseselect Applications > Settings> SD Card & phone storage >Unmount SD card.
8. Opening and switchingapplications
Multi-tasking is easy withAndroid because openapplications keep runningeven when you open anotherapplication. Theres no needto quit an application beforeopening another. Use andswitch among several openapplications. Android manages

each application, stopping andstarting them as needed, toensure that idle applicationsdont consume resourcesunnecessarily.
To stop the application you use
1. On the home screen, touchApplications tab and selectSettings >Applications >
Manage applications.2.Scroll to the desire application and
touch Force stop to stop using it.
9. LG PC SUITENOTE:Install LG PC Suite from
your memory card1 Install your microSD
memory card on yourphone.
2 Connect your phonethrough USB data cable
to your System.
3 1. In the status bar, dragthe USB icon.
2. Choose USBConnected and Mount.
3.You can view themass storage contenton your PC andtransfer the files.
4 1. Copy the folder nameLGPCSuiteIV onyour PC.
2. Run LGInstaller.exe file on yourPC and follow theinstructions.
Note*Please do not remove or delete otherprogram file install on your memory card.This may cause to damage your pre-installed application on the phone. Toinstall the pre-bundled application on yourSD card, select OI File manager from mainmenu and select the respective applica-tions, then install them on your phone.
LG PC SUITE
The LG PC Suite IV is aprogram that helps youconnect your mobile phoneto a PC using a USB datacommunication cable, so thatyou can use the functions of

10. To transfer files usingUSB devices
1. Install your microSD card onyour phone. ( It may alreadybe inserted on your phone.)
2. Before connecting the USBdata cable, make sure thatthe Mass storage only mode
is enabled on your phone. (Onthe applications menu, chooseSettings > SD card & phonestorage, then select Massstorage only check box.)
3. Use the USB cable with
your phone to connect thephone to a USB port on yourcomputer. You receive anotification that the USB isconnected.
4. Open the notification drawerand touch USB connected.
5. Touch Mount to confirm thatyou want to transfer filesbetween your phones microSDcard and the computer.

When the phone is connectedas USB storage, you receive
a notification. You phonesmicroSD card is mounted as adrive on your computer. You cannow copy files to and from themicroSD card.
NOTE: When uninstalling PCSuite IV, USB and BluetoothDrivers are not automaticallyremoved. Therefore, they mustbe uninstalled manually.
TIP! To use a microSD card onyou phone again, you need toopen the notification drawer and
touch Turn off USB storage.During this time, you cantaccess the microSD card fromyour phone, so you cant useapplications that rely on themicroSD card, such as camera,
gallery and music functions.To disconnect your phone fromthe computer, carefully followyour computers instructionsto disconnect USB devicescorrectly, to avoid losing
information on the card.
1. Safely disconnect the USB
device on your computer.2. Open the notification drawer
and touch Turn off USBstorage.
3. Touch Turn off in the dialogthat opens.
11. Unlock screenwhen using dataconnection
Your display will go dark ifuntouched for a period of timewhen using data connection. Toturn on your LCD screen, justtouch it.
12. When screen freezes
If the phone does not respond touser input or the screen freezes:
remove the battery, insert itagain and power on the phone.
If it still does not work, pleasecontact to the service centre.

Installing the SIM cardand battery
Before you can start exploringyour new phone, youll need toset It up. To insert the SIM cardand battery:
1 With the back of the phonefacing you, remove the back
cover. To remove the backcover, firmly press yourthumbs on either side of theback cover, and slide thecover below the camera lens.
2 Slide the SIM card into theSIM card holder. Make surethe gold contact area on the
card is facing downwards.

3 Insert the battery into placeby aligning the gold contacts
on the phone and the battery,then gently press the batteryuntil it snaps into space.
4 Replace the back cover of thephone and slide it down intoplace until the latch clicks.
Charging your phone
Slide back the cover of the
charger connector on the side ofyour GT540. Insert the charger,and plug it into an electricaloutlet. Your GT540 must becharged until you can see .
NOTE: The battery must be fully

To store multimedia files suchas captured images by using abuilt-in camera, you must inserta memory card to your phone.

Here are some tips on how to
navigate around your phone.Touch - To choose a menu/option or open an application,touch it.

Lock and unlock screen
Whenever your GT540 is not
in use, it will return to the lockscreen. If you do not use thephone for a while, the homescreen or other screen you areviewing, is replaced with the lockscreen when the screen blacksout, to conserve the battery.To wake up your phone, pressthe Send, Home, or Power key.The lock screen will appear.Touch the unlock icon anddrag your finger to the right tounlock your home screen. The
last screen you were workingon opens.
NOTE: If there are any programsrunning when you set thepattern, they may be still runningin lock mode. It is recommended

Sending a message1 On the home screen, touch

Getting to know the viewfinder

Using the focus mode
You can select the focus modeas following options;
AF (Auto Focus) Set thecamera to focus automatically.
Macro Macro mode allows youto take extreme close-ups. If youare trying to take a close-up shotbut the focus box remains red,
try turning the macro mode on.Face tracking If you set Facetracking and take a photo, yourcamera detects and focuses onhuman faces automatically.
NOTE: Zoom is not supported in
Face tracking mode.MF (Manual Focus) Set thecamera to focus manually.
Taking a quick photo
1 Press and hold the camera
key on the right side of thephone.
2 Holding the phone horizontally,point the lens towardsthe subject you want tophotograph.
3 Press the capture buttonlightly, and a focus box willappear in the centre of theviewfinder screen.

Timer The self-timer allowsyou to set a delay after the
shutter is pressed. SelectOff
,3 seconds, 5 seconds, or 10seconds. This is ideal if you wantto be included in a photo.
ISO The ISO rating determinesthe sensitivity of the cameraslight sensor. The higher the ISO,the more sensitive the camerawill be. This is useful underdarker conditions when youcannot use the flash. Select fromISO values ofAuto, 100, 200,and 400.
Scene mode Choose fromAuto, Portrait, Landscape,Sports, Night, and Sunset.
Color effect Choose a colourtone for your new photo.
Once youve made your
selection, use the Backkeyto close the colour tone menu.You are then ready to take apicture.
NOTE: You can change a colourpicture to black and white orsepia, but you cannot change a
black-and-white or sepia pictureto colour.
Captured image Choose fromHold, On, and Off. If you selectHold, after taken picture screenis shown for 1 second, and it
goes to the preview right away.Grid screen Choose from Off,2x2, or 3x3.
Shutter sound Select one ofthe four shutter sounds.
GEO-Tagging Activate to use
your phones location-basedservices. Take pictures whereveryou are and tag them with thelocation. If you upload taggedpictures to a blog that supportsgeotagging, you can see the

Shooting a quick video

You can store multimedia files to amemory card to have easy accessto all your image and video files.
TouchApplications tab, thenselect Gallery. You can open alist of catalogue bars that storeall your multimedia files.
NOTE: Make sure you
install a memory card into thephone to save photos andaccess all your pictures. Withouta memory card, the phone willnot display any photos or videos.
There are six catalogue bars as
shown below.All : Displays all yourpictures and videos.
Favorite : If you touch andhold a photo or video, the optionscreen will appear allowing you
to tag the photo as a favourite.This Favorite bar will show yourfavourite photos and videos.
Camera : Displays all yourphotos.
Image : Displays all yourimages.
Video : Displays all yourvideos.
Tag : Like the Favorite bar,you can tag photos. This bardisplays your tagged photos andvideos.
Timeline view
The GT540 Gallery provides atimeline view of your photos andvideos. On the left side of thescreen, the date you took yourphotos will be displayed, fromoldest to newest. If you select aspecific date, all the photos youtook on that day will be groupedover a white background.

To transfer files using USBdevices:
1 Connect the GT540 to a PCusing a USB cable.
2 If you didnt install LG AndroidPlatform Driver on your PC,you need to change settingsmanually. Choose Settings >
SD card & phone storage >activate Mass storage only.
3 Touch Turn on USB storage.
4 You can view the massstorage contents on your PCand transfer the files.
NOTE:You need to install yourmicroSD card fi rst. Without anmicroSD card, you cannot useUSB mass storage.
NOTE: If you installed LG AndroidPlatform Driver, you will see popup with Turn on USB storageimmediately.
NOTE: After using USB massstorage function, if you want tosynchronise your phone withyour PC using the LG PC suite,you need to touch Settings > SD

Music

Playing a song
1 On the home screen, touch
Applications tab and selectMusic.
2 Touch Songs.
3 Select the song you wantto play.
4 Touch to pause the song.

Searching for stations
You can tune in to radio stations
by searching for them manuallyor automatically. They will thenbe saved to specific channelnumbers, so you dont have tokeep re-tuning in.You can store up to 48 channelson your phone.
To tune in automatically
1 On the home screen, touchApplications tab and selectFM radio.
2 Touch the Menu key .
3 Touch Auto scan, then touchOK.
NOTE:You can also manuallytune in to a station using thewheel displayed next to the radiofrequency.
Resetting channels
