The Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council is pleased to provide this Regional Directory as a

convenient and current source of information on agency listings, contact persons, and other public

officials.

The Council recognizes the need for an up-to-date ready reference to ensure that information flow

is as expedient as possible throughout the Treasure Coast Region.

The Council wishes to acknowledge and thank the personnel from the 54 local governments as

well as staff from other agencies who participated in the preparation of this directory.

TREASURE COAST REGIONAL PLANNING COUNCIL

The Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council was established in 1976 to address and resolve

issues on a regional basis in the counties of Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Palm Beach. The

Council is composed of 28 members of which 19 are local government officials including County

Commissioners, Mayors and City Councilmembers, and nine are private citizens appointed by the

Governor.

Regional Planning Councils are quite different than any State Agency or special purpose district.

They perform numerous and vital roles that no other level of government can perform. There are

four functions that the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council is in a unique position to

perform. The first and most basic function is the provision of a multijurisdictional forum through

which local governments and other affected parties can discuss and resolve planning issues

affecting more than one jurisdiction, county, or municipality. The Council also serves to

coordinate and synthesize diverse perspectives, expertise, and opinions into a comprehensive set

of balanced recommendations for problem resolution. The Council offers a regional perspective

on issues that affect the Region and addresses them at a relatively local level. The Council can

address issues that are common to several or all member local governments in a more efficient

and economical manner.
