Background &Vision

With  the  communication  and  cooperation  with  volunteers  from  home  and  abroad,  with  the  help  of  the  media  and  aid  from  other  organizations,  it's  our  strongest  goal  to  develop  the  young  urban  immigrants'  competitive  skills,  hoping  that  our  little  help  would  broaden  their  horizons,  offer  them  the  access  to  the  rest  of  the  world  and  help  build  their  dreams  of  reaching  out,  eventually,  

with  joint  efforts,  make  a  difference.

Millions of migrants have flocked to the urban centers of China in search for a better quality of life.

On the other hand, modern China’s economy and infrastructure is being built on the backs of migrant workers, with Beijing alone home to 5 million migrant workers (Xinhua, 2007) and 500,000 migrant children (Global Envision, 2007). However, with migrants coming every day to seek a better life for their children, they lack access to basic social services that so many of us take for granted. Because they fill the existing labor gaps, migrant workers often find jobs referred to as the “three Ds”: dirty, dangerous, or degrading. Inevitably, their children are the ones who pay the highest price. With no support network in the new city and parents working long hours every day, they are at risk of becoming the ‘forgotten’ children of China. As a result of China’s unique registration system (hukou), which ties each citizen to their place of birth, these children often end up on the fringes of society. (feat. INCLUDED)

Our Main TNMINREN Primary SchoolA private primary school for immigrant children in

FangShan District, Beijing.There are 10 classes of students from 1st grade to

6th grade, with a total number of around 300 students.

Our StudentsAged from 6-12, our students are lovely,

energetic and enthusiastic. Based on our previous experience, they are very curious about foreigners and foreign culture. They’re also eager for knowledge. However, for most of the students, their parents are busy making a living for the family without spending enough time to stay with them, guiding and instructing. Some may have took on some improper habits. Some may be too shy or don’t know how to express themselves.

WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING.

Class Designing &Specific Goals

On weekdays As we could only give our classes to thechildren up to twice a week otherwise our classes would interrupt and affect their compulsory classes. Therefore, on weekdays, we hope to design series of classes that engage consistency as well as a special focus like one kind of art or basic economic knowledge. The goal is to make sure the children have learnt something memorable, useful and inspiring through our up to 12 classes in 6 weeks.

Class Designing &Specific Goals

Saturday Camp Due to all kinds of restrictions on weekdaysclasses(time, size of classes, etc.), we can’t get to know every kid, let alone help to strengthen their minds and work out their personal puzzles as well as problems. So we hope to start up Saturday camps which students could choose if they want to attend. With lower volunteer-child ratio, we could design various activities that focus on deeper metal communication and development.

Special Event

“Show Me Your Dreams”“Show Me Your Dreams” is about bringing more and more

people’s attention to the group of immigrant children, as well as encouraging the children to say their dreams out loud and chase them with the help of the public. Last term we had our students present their dreams on blank postcards and displayed those

amazing cards on campus. This term we intend to seek cooperation with NGO and CSR to enlarge this event and bring in

more social attention and care. WE NEED YOUR INNOVATION.
